There's something I've been discussing. We really need some space for Foreigners, especially if Evastelai's spells have persisted after her passing. We can't live on the kedans' hospitality as we did before, nor Mister Shudder's, who has been very gracious about the matter of using his hotel.

I wonder if those of us with savings could purchase some space. It might be difficult, and we are not well-liked, but it would let us have somewhere to house new arrivals. Having people with construction experience might help. Sadly, this is not one of my areas of knowledge.

Unlike the kedan, we don't have family here, so we should stand in proxy for one another.

Response about two weeks later - video message

Iroh! This is the first time I've been able to get to a console since Zuko and I woke up outside the city about a week ago. So much has changed and we've only seen a few of the people from before.

Zuko and I are sleeping at his old house, but it's not very safe here. I want to move soon. Valdis was telling me about the changes she's seen and I think the old Palace might be a good option for what we're both wanting. I have to check it out still, but it's mostly abandoned from what I was told and it has plenty of space. And it's closer to Tu Vishan's head. So it'll be easier to reach when I try to- well, that's for later. Nothing dangerous. I hope.

[There was some grumbling behind Wan and he looked over his shoulder at someone, "I'll be off in just a moment! You can wait! I paid for the time!"

Huffing a little, he looked back at the camera.]

I wish I could make this longer, but I need to go. And... and I hope you're still checking for messages to this.

If you do get this, please, come to Zuko's old place. If we aren't there, we will be by night fall. Any day you come over.

[Iroh hurried over at the time. Even if the streets had changed, he still knew where his nephew had lived. he kept an eye out for Wan or Zuko -- or anyone that was prone to troubling a harmless old Foreigner]

[Zuko was inside their old suite when Iroh walked up. The fact that someone was outside didn't escape his attention. They'd had more than one unwelcome visitor since they had taken back this place. And before Iroh could even knock, and angry looking Zuko swung open the door.]

Look, we don't want any trouble so just-! ... Uncle?

[Zuko blinked and stared, but then relaxed in relief.]

Good afternoon, Zuko!

[Iroh walked in like it was just another day.]

[Wan was further inside the room, holding back while Zuko took door duty. Just in case he needed some back up for anything. But when Iroh appeared with the door opening, all the tension in Wan drained away. He brightened up and grinned.]

Iroh! You got my message!

Indeed I did. How are you two holding up?

[lordhotman]

[Iroh would undoubtably notice there was something different about his nephew from the last time he saw him. Zuko was a little older, a little taller, and more at peace with himself. Which showed in the light smile as his Uncle let himself in. It was good to see a friendly face, especially that of his Uncle, after all the hostility from the Kedan.]

We're doing fine. What about you?

[raavashing]

Sorry there's no where but the floor to sit. And we don't have any tea.

[Wan apologized as he combed his fingers through his hair sheepishly.]

We're still working on getting a good teapot. And money to buy one. The second is more of a problem than the first.

[Though, admittedly, Wan was very picky about teapots.]

An, you know me too well, nephew. I'm doing well enough. You've grown, I see.

And the floor is fine. I've certainly sat on worse. But, yes, money is a concern.

It's been two years.

[At least for him. He's not sure what happened with his Uncle since the whole Malicant thing. Zuko then moves to sit down on the floor with his legs crossed. He wasn't nearly as fussy as Wan.]

Then I think you may finally be from my future.

[ Iroh sat on the floor as well, leaning against the wall ]

Those of us who stayed spent... some time in the Dreaming. A year passed outside. We slept through most of the recovery. And an invasion from one of the countries on land.

[Wan was only fussy about it because he wanted to show some hospitality. He had no problem joining both of them as he came over to sit next to Zuko. Folding his legs under him, he ended up in a position that left him leaning his shoulder into Zuko's.]

Valdis told me, us, about that. That a year had passed. She didn't mention an invasion from the outside. Maybe that's why we were brought back. To protect the Great Turtle from those who would harm it while it recovers.

[He was going to assume the Turtle was alive until proven otherwise.]

That would be reasonable. if I recall, you were some of those closest to the Turtle since the old Emperor's death.
