When Gene heard the radio post from Akito - who he actually still needs to see and talk to about the events in the fight with Malicant - he immediately had armored up and teleported nearby. Like he's getting a cat out of tree. Real superhero stuff!

So he...did not really expect to teleport near Akito's position in the middle of an argument between Akito in the tree, and Dante on the ground. And the Mandarin does not teleport stealthily. Big ball of light. Zorking noise. It's very obnoxious. He sends away his helmet, and looks critically at the pair.]

Is this a bad time?

Oh no. Your fine. Granted, I don't think this is the renaissance fair or the freak show, but I was just about to leave.

I was going to to help, but apparently nobody here can take a joke. [In other words, he's not helping. He turns to leave in a huff.]

[ ignoring Dante, because Akito can and will be a huge bitch when he feels like it. ]

[Wow, who spit in Dante's bean curd? Wait, Gene doesn't care. This is probably karmic payback for cockblocking him, as is right and proper. Like Akito, he ignorez-vouses Dante in favor of the more immediate problem. Jerk.]

Sure, hold on. [And he levitates off the ground up to where Akito is all tangled up in the tree branches. Yikes. That shirt's probably a write-off, pal.] How did you manage this?

[As Dante stormed out of the log off, one more person decided to express their anger. Or rather, one more bird. As Dante passed under Bird, he hit something hit his head, and glared upwards before quickly leaving again. Because that's just gross, Bird.]

Ah... I don't know. I woke up this way.

[ it was actually somewhat scary since he practically strangled himself to death initially. ]

[Gene is momentarily nonplussed. Like. Why would you sleep in a tree. There is a perfectly good Midnight Hotel.]

[ like. duh. where else would he sleep? ] Can you get me down? Please?

Uh, yeah. Sure. [wat. Gene's had to sleep in some weird places, okok, but up in a tree is a new one on him.

And he gets to work untangling Akito from the tree, which has quite a tenacious grasp on him and his clothing. Yeah. Goodbye, Akito's shirt. It was nice knowing you.]

[ thankfully Akito's been layering up the few clothes that he has, so he's got a t-shirt on underneath that sweater. no need to flash Gene some too-skinny teenager torso unnecessarily.

I'll have to buy another sweater.

Don't worry about it. [Gene's still got most of his stockpiled juulan from before the final battle with Malicant; if Akito needs some help, he can hook the kid up with a sweater or something.]

What are you doing up here? I haven't seen you since-- since we got back.

[ Akito had been more focused on his precious belongings than any small amount of juulan he had saved up, so he's homeless and has no money - thus the lack of hotel-ness, because he would feel awkward not paying. ]

I like trees. It... We used to nap in them, back home. When we would camp with our friends.

[Gene has no particular opinion on trees.]

Looks uncomfortable to me. [And here he is, slowly de-levitating with Akito to get him to ground level. Once he gets Akito to his feet, he dismisses his armor.

A pause. Then:] Did you get taller?

[ he's surprised gene noticed, because it really is just a miniscule amount of height gained. Aside from his voice being kind of funny it's the most obvious change, however. ]

Ah... Un! I guess my body took advantage of the rest...? I grew nearly half an inch.
