[Aang takes a slow measured breath before speaking.]

Hi. I'm Aang. I don't know if we've met yet, but...I'm hoping we do.

[He manages a small, hopeful smile that lasts for a fraction of a second. If you blink, you might miss it.]

Chances are good though, that you know some of my friends. General Iroh, Sokka, and Katara. They know a lot more people than I do, and so I want to make sure that all of them know that they went home.

[This is a lie. Aang doesn't know that they actually went home, but he's choosing to believe in the reality that they did. Because the thought of any of them being stuck in the void for who knows how long is...no. They're home. They're just home.]

Anyway, I know I'm not much of a substitute, seeing as I'm no where near as wise as Iroh, or mechanically inclined like Sokka, and I can't heal like Katara, but...I'm still an Avatar and I'd like to help.

So if there's anything that they were doing that you'd still need help with? Or that just needs doing? I'd love to try.

Hey, I know Katara, she helped me out when I got here. Sorry to hear she's gone.

If you're looking for something to do, Brave Vesperia could use some more hands. I don't know what an Avatar is but we're in the business of helping people too.

The Avatar is the one person who can bend all four elements, and who's tasked with keeping the world in balance. Who's Brave Vesperia?

[It would probably not be helpful for Aang to mention he's 114 years old...]

It is. General Iroh is a good friend, and gives the best advice.

[Aang doesn't mention how he also makes the best tea, because that really goes without saying.]

Did you know that Iroh is a firebender?

Yes...I knew Wan.

[A long pause.]

He was my closest friend.

[She's trying very hard to not let the conflicting emotions enter her voice.]

We had a bond between our souls. He could sense when I was near...feel what I felt. He was the kindest, most sincere person I've ever met.

[He'd faced her darkness when she lacked the strength to do so and had helped Anton carry her out of the Void.]

He was my Frelser and I trusted him unconditionally.

[Yuri could hear it in his voice and it brought a wince of sympathy.]

Sounds like a really big job for one kid.

Brave Vesperia is a guild, and we do jobs for people. It's a way to get a little pay and help others at the same time.

It is, which is why I'm really glad I have good friends to help me.

[Insert the reprisal of the small, hopeful smile here.]

I don't know about accepting payment for helping people, I'm a Monk. But...I'd still help when I could.

It's a good way to make friends too, especially with the Kedan. So feel free to tag along sometime.

[She almost doesn't dare to hope...She knows that this isn't truly Wan and she needs to treat Aang as his own person, but it was a bond that she missed desperately]

I don't...I don't really know? It might. There's a lot about being the Avatar, about Raava that I don't really know or understand yet. But maybe!

When I helped Wan possess Tu Vishan to try to force Malicant out, a piece of our souls bonded together.

[A small pause as she considered things.]

Raava...she and I have interacted before, when Wan was in the Avatar state...I spoke to her, told her that I would protect him. She might recognize me...

[Then she sounds sad again]

But of course...that's only if Raava kept her memories, or the bond survived the passage of time...

It does, it should. I talk to my past lives all the time, and I think I can only do that through Raava, it's just...she doesn't talk to me. She acts through me, but...until I met Wan here I'd never spoken to her.

[A small pause.]

I guess ten thousand years is a really long time to keep having the same conversations.

[Ten thousand years...That was a long time...]

Would you be willing to meet with me? Just to see if it has?

Of course.

[He says without any reservation at all.]

Really? I'd...I'd like that. Um, where do the Brave Vesperia meet?

Can you meet me at the Hotel?

[Uh... where do they meet? Good question. Yuri didn't exactly organize meetings or anything. If they had a job they just met at the site usually. Maaaybe that should change. Right now he'll just make something up.]

I am truly sorry your friends have gone.

Though there's no need to compare your strengths to theirs. I am sure you have plenty of your own to cultivate.

Though I beg your pardon if this is an inappropriate question - what precisely do you mean that you are an Avatar?

Iroh and I were suite-mates, for some time.

[In some ways, he looked out for her even after that, and she still enjoyed taking tea with him occasionally.]

Ah... Katara is gone?

[ unlike with Alayne, this is easier to accept... Katara seemed to want to go home whereas Alayne didn't. ]

I don't recall him mentioning it, but- from what I do know, I take it that's a sort of pyrokinesis?

[That's not exactly a word that Aang knows, mostly because...why use that when there's already firebender? And so rather than ask, he shows.]

[Aang holds up one hand, snaps his fingers, and a small flame forms on the end of one thumb.]

In my world some are born with the ability to control one of the four elements. Air, Water, Earth, and Fire. One person in a generation can control all four, and that's the Avatar.
