[ There is a video response, but as soon as the screen switches on there is just a blur of black clothes before the person gets out of sight.

A strangled, choked noise close to a sob.

And in the Midnight Hotel, Kylo Ren is breaking down as a steady, panicked chant of no, no, no runs through his head. It can't be, not his father, alive, looking somewhat younger even than when had last seen him, asking for him as if nothing had happened...

It doesn't even occur to him in his panic that Han had asked for kids, several of them, though he does angrily wonder who Mara is. Another girl he had picked up on his travels to replace him?]

O-kay...

That was strange.

Kinda gave me a bad feeling too.

[ Hearing his father's voice again after he had thought he would never again, gets an actual sob from Kylo. ]

No...

[ Off-screen, he is pressing himself against the far wall of his room as if the console might bite. ]

[Han just keeps staring in confusion, wondering who this guy is and what his deal is.]

[ Kylo presses a hand to his mouth to stifle any more traitorous noises, knowing he should be a responsible adult and get information but... No. He just can't.

There is another flurry of black robes, and a glimpse at a pale, stricken face before the video transmission cuts off. ]

[Han just stares confused. There's a faint familiarity but he knows he's never seen this guy before.]

Ok what was his problem?

[Luke's first reaction was curious confusion; Han was old enough he noticed Leia's name before anything else, but as soon as he actually paid attention, he snapped up straight, blinking.]

Han?

[Relief and confusion both, even if Kylo Ren's presence meant he already knew they must have gotten Han from Jabba, but still. It was a bit different like this. Even with the sudden difference in ages (more than usual, that was). At least he already knew that was possible, even if it was more unsettling when it was someone he knew so well personally.]

Yeah?

Boy am I glad to see you.

Kid you look even younger than usual.

This other guy was talking about time stuff..,is that it? You're from way before me?

[He's not ashamed to acknowledge that he relaxes a little, and the chuckle is only somewhat awkward.]

Yeah, looks like it. It's... um, it was two weeks after Bespin when I ended up here.

[A pause. Not at all as heavy as it'd have been weeks ago, but still there. Then he shakes his head and grins.]

And you look even older than usual.

Wow that is a big gap.

Last thing I remember it was 29 years after Yavin. And believe me when I say a lot's happened.

You want to get together and talk about it? Promise I'll try not to say anything that might shake you up too much.

[Man, the kid doesn't even have Endor under his belt yet. Han thinks.]

This Poe keeps saying things even I have no clue on. He says it's like two different histories and it's starting to seem like it.

Just makes me wanna go find a good, stiff drink somewhere.

One more thing...is Leia here? I haven't heard anything from her, so I'm starting to wonder.

She isn't. [He shakes his head, still feeling drawn between being disappointed about it and relieved. Because now that he's been here over a month and Han is (if far older than he should be from Luke's reckoning) here, he realises how much he's missing his friends.]

But, different histories? You'll have to tell me, because so far I haven't noticed anything like that... I'll come meet you. [He smiles briefly - if nothing else he has to ask him about that question about kids. Kylo... Ben, hadn't mentioned anyone but himself.]

You're at the Welcome Center, right?

Yeah, I'm down here.

Kriff, ok thanks. I miss her already. She and I are married now.

There's so many we're away from. She and I have kids, and you...you got a family too by my time. I'll tell you more in person so you aren't overloaded.

[He had what? It wasn't an unwelcome or completely impossible thought, but it wasn't really something he'd spared any thoughts for. But, he could always ask about that later, if he wanted to.

It didn't take him very long to walk over to the Center, feeling like he was doing the reverse of what Padmé had done when he'd come here... Shaking his head, he went to find Han. Which wasn't very hard, but he was still startled for a moment, again, at the difference in age.]

Hey. This really is rather... weird.

[Apparently meeting at least one person from the future didn't really make it any easier with the next. Especially when you knew them.]

[Han detected that Luke was a bit surprised. That was why he was going to need to go slow here. Luke arrived quick, and looked even younger in person.]

Yeah it is. You look even younger in person. I still keep thinkin' I'm gonna wake up and this will be a huge nightmare. But it's good to see you, kid." He said.

So do you know anything at all about this...this future stuff? I mean beyond what I said on the comm?

It's been too long since you saw me being twenty two, I think. [Luke smiled faintly, then shook his head.] I know the feeling, though... it's not so bad, but this isn't where I want, or need to be.

[Frowning at the question, Luke rubbed his neck.]

Not... much. I've spoken to someone who apparently is my nephew though... and wants to kill me. [He flashed a humourless smile.] You mentioned kids?

[Han nods] Yeah it has...way too long. And I'm with you there...it's all right here, but I'd rather be home.

[Luke brings up the kids and Kylo.]

Ah, yeah, that's where it gets weird. That Hux guy mentioned Kylo, but he isn't my kid. I have three kids, Jacen and Jaina, who are twins, and, well...There was our youngest, Anakin. That story...I don't know...if I tell the whole thing, it won't be easy to hear.

[Han sighed. If Luke didn't want to hear it, Han was giving him an out. He wouldn't burden the kid if he'd rather not hear.]

Hux also called Kylo Ben. But the Ben I know isn't my son...he's your kid. He's 5 now, in my time. Your wife's name is Mara, and you and her...that's kind of a surprising story itself if you wanna hear it.

Huh. [At first, all he can do is stare and frown for a moment, trying to wrap his mind around the fact that apparently it wasn't just Han and Leia who got children, but him as well.]

Later, maybe. [He smiled a bit wryly.] Not like we're lacking in time right now, I don't think. But that... does sort of sound like... what, different ways things could go?

[Luke frowned. Was that possible? Apparently. He hadn't thought much about it (or at all), but in a way it made sense, he supposed.]

Kylo Ren doesn't like to use his name, no. I'm not sure if he's got siblings or not, he didn't mention any the time we met.

[Han nods] Yeah, whenever you want to talk about it. Although I can't avoid some of it now.

That guy Poe, the pilot...he talked about something called the First Order that popped up after the Empire died. But I don't know anything about that. We did keep fighting what we called the Imperial Remnant for a while, but eventually you and the woman who became your wife just after, you helped convince the two sides to make peace.

And he doesn't seem to know anything at all about the war that we got caught in after. I'll spare you the details for the moment, but let's just say it was long, tough,the whole galaxy was caught up in it and I'm just glad it's finally over by the my time.

And then there's the part about you disappearing...I know that didn't happen. I mean, he could be from a few years ahead of me, but I don't know...

All I do know is that it's giving me a headache and I want a good stiff drink about now.

[Han sighs again, shaking his head.]

So how long have you been here now?

Long enough I can probably find you somewhere to have that drink at. [Luke smiled faintly, shaking his head.] This is... weird, though, yeah. Maybe it'll help if you think of it as a Force-thing?

[Luke wasn't sure that was helping him any, but maybe it was similar to visions, whether about the past and future or the sort he'd seen in the cave on Dagobah. Possibilities - even if they clearly were already both fact to Han as well as Ben and a few others, apparently.]

I've been here over a month by now. [Running a hand through his hair, Luke shook his head.] I don't get how it works, but you and Ben and... apparently a few others from what seems to be two different futures isn't the only... strangeness.

[he hesitated between just asking about his possible future wife and son (because, who wouldn't be curious?) and about telling Han about this. In the end...]

My parents are here, Han. They're barely older than I am.

Yeah, I guess I could. Still hard to believe I actually came to think of that stuff as real. But when your whole family is using it, it's a lot harder not to accept it. You, your wife,your Ben, Leia, all three of my kids...[Han shakes his head] And I'm the odd guy out.

[Han listens, his eyes widening a little.]

He isn't Vader is he? Please tell me he isn't Vader.

I get what you mean on the age thing...I never knew my parents, but if they showed up younger than me, or the same age,it would still freak me out.

But hey, maybe it's also a good thing. You've said quite a few times you wish you could have met them when they were alive. If they aren't as freaked as you and not willing to talk, I hope you can make the most of it.

[Han is quiet for a moment, then talks again] You know, I never used to mind being alone, but now that I'm married, I'm not going to like being without her. It's been a long, complicated ride, but we've made it through somehow.

At the same time, it'd be my luck that she'd show up and be Kylo's mom instead of the mom of my kids. I get the feeling that'd be even worse...seeing someone, knowing you both have a face the other knows and loves, but you're both from different worlds or whatever. [He shakes his head, reaching up to brush the hair off his forehead.]

Maybe I should just not think about it for now. [sighs again]

He's not. [Luke shakes his head, wondering if he should feel guilty for feeling relieved he doesn't have to go through telling Han (for now, anyway), since he already knows. He'd suspected he would, considering how old he was.] He's from... before things must have happened. They both are.

And yeah I'm... it's been nice. [The smile is undeniable and he wouldn't have been able to control it even if he tried.]

Well... if Leia does end up here, maybe she'll be from when you are. [He could admit, if she appeared at all he would sort of like her to be from when he was, but he does honestly hope for Han as well.]

[ her reaction isn't quite as horrified as Kylo Ren's, but Rey is stunned nevertheless by the face she sees over the feed.

he's about thirty years younger, fresh-faced — or about as much as he can be, for a seasoned smuggler — and vibrant, not at all the old man she'd become acquainted with. but she'd know Han Solo anywhere.

Wait, I bet this is what that Poe guy was talking about. Somehow, the timelines he and I remember are very different.
