[After a fight between Rey and Kylo Ren at the Hotel, and once the combatants have been appropriately ejected (including Hux, thanks to an attempted equally violent intervention), Anton makes a broadcast.

[He's looking only slightly ruffled, but those who know him will see his demeanour is a bit sterner than usual. Behind him, the Hotel's lobby is visible ... more than ruffled. There's a few broken bits.]

Please be aware that Misters Kylo Ren and Hux, and Ms Rey, are banned from the Midnight Hotel for the foreseeable future. Anyone attempting to sneak them inside or otherwise grant them access will be considered in violation of the Hotel's rules.

It's a work in progress. Hopefully, with time, we will get better at this but humans are flawed creatures.

[Poe rubs the healing scar in his cheekbone absently. He knows far too well how much trouble resentment can bring but it's not an easy thing to deal with. Still, he gives Anton a smile a second later.]

I tend to find it unhelpful to judge that on a species' long-term scale. Individuals may get better--species will, on average, remain as they always have.

[Five hundred plus years may not be long compared to some others here, but it's long enough that Anton doesn't entirely believe in societal moral progression.]

Not a weapon I have wielded in quite a while, I admit, but Cleaver's scythes are enchanted against damage. It seemed the most likely to be useful in this situation, of the weapons I have.

[Mostly it's enchanted against magical damage. Using it had been a bit of a gamble, and the steel had warped a bit, but all in all it had borne up well enough against a laser sword.]

Jess always said that I was a terrible optimist, so I guest this is one of my particular flaws. I do think we all can get better with time but as you said, when it comes to long-term scale it's very tricky.

[Yup, living that long sure give you insight. Poe's wouldn't question it if he knew.]

Not many weapons in my world can stop a lightsaber, it was a really good choice. Cleaver is a friend of yours?

[The last time Poe saw someone face a lightsaber it ended in murder, he's very happy not to see that happening again.]
