[A six-year-old appeared on the screen. Barely. There was some movement below, like she was shifting a certain book being used as a booster, before her young face appeared in view once more.]

[That face wasn't happy.]

I don't know what's going on...but I don't like it.

[Beyond that, she wasn't sure.]

Hm. Might be harder to find you, but I can do my best!

How're you going to do that? And don't say magic.

[He blinks.]

Uh, no? I was just going to go from what I can see in the background on your end and go from there? Why?

[She blinked right back.]

Oh.

[That was actually really smart. A+ detective boy.]

Okay. If you think that will help.

[He has ambitions.]

Well, I hope it will! I'm going to head out now, and I'll let you know if I can't find you?

I'm gonna stay here for a little while. Just in case.

[It wasn't the worse place ever. In fact, one of the clues Tim might note was the view from just outside. Across the street was a small sandwich shop. A shop which would be more than happy to eventually give her a tall glass of water and cookie. Which, if he were to eventually come upon the console cafe, he would see her sitting in her seat eating. Legs swinging lightly back and forth in her seat as she savored the oatmeal raisin-like treat.]

[After a bit of wandering, asking questions as politely as possible, and eventually stumbling across a welcome center which had a lot of informative paperwork, Tim started his hunt for the girl he had seen on the odd computer thing. There was a bit more wandering and asking questions, but eventually he managed to find the console cafe she'd broadcast from, and then her.]

Hi--I'm Tim. I... think I forgot to introduce myself before.

[She was mid-bite when he walked up to her, taking the time she needed to properly chew and swallow to glance him up and down. Slightly suspicious, but not overly so. She...supposed he looked like the boy she'd been talking to before. And he was right; they had forgotten to share names.]

I'm Midii.

Midii Une.

[Introductions in person are way better than over the internet anyway.] It's nice to meet you.

[He pulled out some of the pamphlets he'd picked up at the Welcome Center.]

So, I don't think we were kidnapped. At least, not in the usual sense of the word.

O...kay....

[She accepted the pamphlets, ignoring most of the words in favor of the pictures. She could read just fine, sure, but...a lot of them were using words she had never seen before. Her brows furrowed at his words.]

Then in what 'sense' were we kidnapped?

[He shrugged a little, frowning slightly at the question.] Well, I mean, we were brought here against our will, but it doesn't seem to have been on purpose? Apparently it's magic.

[He paused, remembering her reaction to the "m" word earlier, and he had to admit, it did sound pretty far-fetched, but he hadn't seen anything to suggest that the theory was false.]

Someone cast a spell a while ago, I guess, and it's still running, even though the person who cast it is gone.

[He remembered well. Her facial reaction indicated her opinion of the notion...hadn't changed much in the time since he first contacted her.]

Why does everybody keep saying that?

And if they didn't take us on purpose, then it had to be by accident. Which means the people who took us are...really dumb.

[She assumes 'not on purpose' meant they took the wrong kids.]

Well, there are a lot of people from different worlds here. I think magic is real in some of them. [Including Tim's, though he hadn't had much of a chance to study that yet.

He made a face. He actually agreed with Midii on that point.]

Yeah, I'm not sure they were too bright either. I mean, supposedly it was to help out with some big fight, but what are we supposed to do?

[Tim might have believed that magic existed, but Midii...didn't not. However, since Tim was a kid like her, it didn't feel quite so patronizing. So she decided to let him believe what he wanted, and whatever.]

...they're fighting here, too? [Strangely enough...that was the first thing that made sense to her since she woke up.] Oh. I bet they want us to carry medicines and stuff around the battlefield, then. I heard kids do stuff like that for the soldiers.

[He blinked at that.]

I didn't think about that. I guess that would make sense for us to get recruited for that. But it sounds like it's all over, and they don't need us for that anymore.

Just 'cause it sounds like it's over doesn't mean it is.

Wait. You'll see.

[Well, that's a troubling thought. Moreso because he thinks she might be right. Why else would the spell still be taking people? He can't believe that no one has figured out how to break it.]

Maybe. I guess we'll have to see, huh?
