[When Conan opens the video feed, he simply looks tired. He hadn't ever gotten to know Avery well, despite living with him for some time. Hi sudden disappearance had been startling, even if Conan had been in Tushanshu long enough to know that people just left sometimes.
But Avery's disappearance had left Conan with a problem. His mind might have been 17, but he looked 7. And a seven-year-old could not hold a job or rent an apartment by themselves.]
So I don't know how many people have heard, but the cat cafe is gone now. Which means I don't have anywhere to stay any more.

[ Ugh. he's going to regret this. ]
I don't know if you'd be interested, but I am fairly new here so having someone that's a little more familiar with the area might be helpful. It's a beneficial situation for us both that way.

What kind of detective? Are you planning on joining the police force here?
video
I'll occasionally work with the police but I prefer to do things my way. Not every case that comes to the police is interesting. That won't bother you, will it?
Re: video
Not at all! The person who takes care of me at home is a private detective that sometimes consults with the police. And I've met a lot of other detectives too.
But if you only take the interesting cases you must be a really skilled detective. What kinds of cases do you take?
video
All sorts, but generally I prefer the more bizarre cases that not even the police can solve.

A few other things you should know, I like to play the violin when I'm thinking and there will be times where I don't talk for several days on end. Also, back at my flat I often performed post-mortum experiments-it helps me with my work.
Re: video
[Conan didn't feel like getting into the whole Sleeping Kogoro thing right now. He listens intently to the rest.]
I can deal with all of that. I kick a soccerball when I want to think, and I probably won't spend that much time in the apartment.
What are you trying to learn from the experiments?
video
None of that will bother me either, which sector are you in?
Re: video

If you'd like, I can meet you there in half an hour.
Re: video
video -> Action?
[ He snaps the feed off because
he has to have the last word on everything damn it.he's still busy doing mundane things he doesn't really care about the apartment is, as he'd said, a bit empty and should be furnished. ][ In the half hour it takes the kid to get there Sherlock has already built a table which is sitting in the middle of the room. Off to the side is an armchair with a few books stacked up on it, and a bookcase. When he said 'a bit empty' he wasn't kidding. ]

[ Once he pulls the door open he gets a good look at the kid, noticing immediately that something isn't adding up. He looks like a child, yes, but he's not dressed as one-the watch on his left hand doesn't have a brand name on the inside face, there are four red triangles to indicated where the numbers go, and there is a small hinge on side that suggests the top of the watch flips up. What for? The next suspicious piece of clothing is the red shoes on his feet. Brightly colored like a child would prefer but there's no indication of brand logo on the shoes either which suggest they are custom made. Another off thing about them is the white circle on the side, it looks a little too stiff to be just a random design and seems much more like a dial? Third, the belt he's wearing is also custom made, the buckle has three separate dials, but for what? And finally, the oddest part of his wardrobe was the fact he's wearing suspenders. ]
[ Of course though, he doesn't voice any of his concerns and just gestures for the boy to enter. ]
Sorry about the mess. As I said, still new.
no subject
Which all added to up to someone very interesting.]
That's okay! The last place I stayed at was an apartment over a cat cafe.
no subject
Doesn't he remind you of someone, Conan?][ Sherlock notices those sharp little eyes moving in the same way his do upon meeting someone for the first time. He's not too concerned about the visual clues that are left out in the open though and doesn't make any indication that he's noticed and just sort of scratches absently at the side of his head before shutting the door once Conan is fully inside. ]
Good. My room is to the back, the other is yours if you want it. Now, is there anything that you need to know about me that you haven't noticed?
no subject
[Not at all. That guy is fictional.][Conan laughs as he tucks his hands behind his head.]
So you really are a detective. Most people don't notice me observing them.
no subject
It's not often that I meet someone that's actually capable of it though-so let's hear it. What have you observed from me?
[ It was time to see if this kid was actually capable of observation and deduction. According to his device idea this was the Conan kid that Tony had mentioned. What a strange stroke of luck that he'd need a place to stay. ]
no subject
[For a moment, as Conan stares up at his new roommate, he allows a part of his true intelligence to show past his childish mannerisms.]
My observations? I'm just a kid, you know. So I'm not an expert at this yet. But you work with chemicals, don't you? You used to smoke and use some kind of injected drug, although not recently. Your family has money, but you don't have interest in it yourself. And you haven't met many kids. You already told me that you play the violin, so there's no need to mention the calluses on your fingertips.
no subject
[ But now it's all too obvious that this isn't a child at all, which of course explained the discrepancies in the child's wardrobe. ]
Impressive. [ He offers quite simply. ]
Yes, I've noticed several things about you-including the fact that you're hiding your real age.
no subject
That's a strange conclusion to come to, isn't it? Why did you say that?
no subject
Do you really want me to point it out? First, we'll start with your shoes-red and bright like a child might like but there's no brand printed anywhere on them-that suggests a custom design but there's something off about them-the small white circle on the side. Just part of the design? But it's too stiff and sticks out just a enough that it seems more like a dial. Moving up, your belt is, once again, custom made which wouldn't be that suspicious but you're also wearing suspenders-are you really that concerned about your pants falling down? But the most damning bit of evidence is your watch. It's a regular analogue watch with no numbers to indicate time. You're trying to pass yourself off as what? Six, Seven? No child that young is that good at telling time.
And then you went and confirmed it all by the look on your face. [ He pauses, looking the kid over again but differently this time. ] You're in trouble, aren't you?
no subject
"It seems like there's no point in denying any of that."
He wasn't about to try denying something that had already been deducted. That would be just more suspicious for someone of this level of deductive skill. However, that did not mean he intended to offer up any details.
no subject
As long as we understand each other.
But I will need to know two other things, whatever it is that you're hiding from, is it anything I should know about? Is it something that can reach you here?
[ He'll ask more questions later but for right now he just needs to gauge the threat level. ]
no subject
"Any danger is in the place I came from. It is possible that it could follow me here, but not likely."
He does not answer the question as to whether it was something this guy should know about. The answer was obvious enough.
no subject
"If it should find its way here and you feel that it is a threat to the general population then you are to notify me immediately." He decides on a compromise. It's only an issue if it's an immediate threat and right now, whatever has this kid running scared, isn't anything to be concerned with.
"I'll let you keep your secrets until it's necessary that I know them." Or until he thinks it'll be easier to pry them out of the kid.
no subject
Conan had no intention of ever telling him the full story.
no subject
Except that curiosity was nagging at him as it always did whenever faced with something interesting. Luckily, Conan's reactions were enough for him to work out some kind of vague notion of what was going on with the kid but he didn't have the 'how.' It was so far beyond his comfort zone in science and logic that he didn't have a chance of deducing it like he did most everything.
no subject
But as much as Conan would like to object, he had been rather neatly cornered. He couldn't object to the condition without explaining his reasons. Which would completely invalidate the point of not sharing any details of his situation.
no subject
"Not when there are so many other questions to occupy my time with at the moment." With any luck it'll be a long time before he gets bored again.
no subject
Conan's list of things to investigate grew by the day here.
"So what should I call you, Mr. Consulting Detective?"
no subject
"For now, just 'Mr. Holmes' is fine."
no subject
"Okay, Mr. Holmes!" Conan slips back into his usual childish mannerisms as he responds. Habit was a difficult thing to break sometimes.
"Was there anything else?"
