So, um, wow...

This is going sound incredibly stupid on both counts, but would anyone mind lending me some advice on a couple of things? It's nothing really personal, it's just I'm having a little trouble with a couple of small things. (A breath, calm yourself, calm yourself.) Okay, so for starters... I need to look for a job. I used to work at the cat cafe, but that's gone now I think. So, I was thinking of something that I would like to do. And I kind of think I wanted to start a business again. I used to do that. A scooter rental shop in my own world and in another place I was at I ran a consignment shop...

I think if I was going to do that again, I would want to start a bakery or something like that...

(She might even be smiling based on her tone of voice now.)

What kinds of things would you want to see sold? How much do you think I should charge? Should I think about doing something else? What's setting up something like that going to take? What am I missing here...

(Oh, right. She has to ask about this other thing too.)

And now for the second part...

Does anyone know how to build those really cool, big pillow forts? I thought it would be something fun, but I'm having trouble even keeping this little tiny fort upright.

Yeah, I was really thinking about it, honestly I will when I ask myself what I want to do. Besides, I can't go back to my old job here and I kind of miss having my own shop.

(A pause.) You would? Really? I...I really could use the help.

You think it's a great idea? I kind of thought that if I'm already baking constantly for my housemates, I might as well try to see what I can do with it and it's not as if I can rent scooters out here.

I do think it's a good idea. I can't remember if I've heard of any other Foreigners running a bakery... but who doesn't love baked things, either way?

Sure, I don't mind. I have to deal with them anyway, and I've done all this before. I assume you'll need to rent a shop, rather than buy?

I haven't been here long, so I'm not entirely sure of that myself. I know there was a cafe I used to work for, but this would be different than that.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking and I would also think that if I can find a way to recreate some things that some of us are used to, well, wouldn't that be a good thing?

I owe you a lot for your help. (A nod.) Yeah, I think renting would be best.

Finding a way to make the Foreigners feel a little more at home would certainly be a good thing, I would think. And there's always that odd birthday or wedding to make cakes for.

Think nothing of it. When you're ready, let me know-- [There's a brief pause, and then a laugh] Although I suppose it might help if I introduced myself, wouldn't it?

Well, I would be sad if I couldn't get someone a birthday cake if that was what they wanted. (Then she pauses.) Wedding cakes? Do people actually get married here?

I'll let you know soon. I'm just going to try to come up with what I can sell, at least starting out what I can do. (Then a grin.) It probably would. It wouldn't look very good if I was asked questions and could only say "But that really nice guy told me" and "Hey, you" wouldn't be very nice.

People can get married anywhere they fall in love, can't they? [He laughs] I pushed a couple of my friends to get married before I left, actually. He was being a bloody idiot and it hadn't even occurred to him to propose.

Erskine Ravel, at your service. And you are...?

Uh, yeah, they can. It just... (She looks a little sheepish.) it seems kind of weird to think about doing something like that here. I, mean, what if they leave...then they don't remember, right? Being here? That's just sad to me, the idea of being forgotten.

(Then she stops herself.)

Uh, right. Names. I'm Marie. Marie Kreutz.

[He'll just... not mention the fact that the groom up and disappeared shortly after the wedding. Erskine himself had vanished around the same time, although at least he'd come back.]

I don't know. They'd both been here for quite a while by that point. It seemed like something they might want to do before it was too late.

[But hey, this is venturing into sad territory and they're just meeting. No sense in making everything doom and gloom already, right?]
