[One minute he'd been settled in bed for the night and the next he was outside being pelted by wind and rain. His first act was to pull out his pocketwatch and check it only to discover that it didn't connect to the network. Whatever network COMPASS had them all set up on, John did not have access to it though he could still get into the other apps that were provided on the otherworldly device. After approximately thirty minutes of wandering about in the freezing cold, John had found himself in the Welcome Center - armed with information and new items to help him make his way in this world.
Now's the time when he addresses the network.]
Good evening, my name is John Watson and I've just arrived to this world. I'm a former Army doctor and had been working in General Practice. It's not everyday you find yourself in a new world but I think I'm taking it fairly well. Though I am a bit curious if anyone is familiar with a ship named the Charon, of a city called Zelien or a company called COMPASS. It's fine if you haven't, I'm only curious.
[There, that's the fastest way to draw out anyone who might have been in that other world.]
Anyway, I'm sure there are hospitals and doctors around these parts if anyone happens to get sick or injured during this storm but if you're in need of patching up you can call me any time. Not entirely sure where I'll be staying as of yet but I'm here to help in any way I can.
Seeing as how I'm new here, I am searching for a job preferrably where I can continue my medical practice and would like to know about the conditions of each location. My skills may lie along the scientific side of things but I've no issue working alongside those who use magic in their healing practices.
Thanks for your time.

Do you know a man named Sherlock Holmes?
[text]
Yeah, I do. He's my friend. He wouldn't happen to be here, would he? Tall bloke, dark curly hair, prefers texting.
[Seems odd that he has to physically describe Sherlock but John has no idea what other versions of Sherlock might look like.]
[text]
[Sherlock had mentioned that he knew a John Watson. Still, Conan had learned enough caution to not be willing to admit to living with the man just yet.]
[text]
[If this person is trying to find out more about him to keep Sherlock a secret, that's fine with John.]

If I may inquire further, are you more interested in the healing aspect of your practice, or are you equally looking into experimentation and research?
[text]
To be honest I'd rather be healing but I am curious as to what sort of experimentation and research you're talking about.
[Typically he leaves all of the experimentation to Sherlock.]
[text]
Although I focus on technological advances with a primary concentration in navigation and weaponry, I too have prior experience serving as the medical unit for our crew, and thus, am constantly updating my database regarding basic first aid practices.

[Raine usually responds in the same medium, but in this case, the request is directly related to her business.]
First, I'd challenge the apparent assumption that science and magic are on opposing sides of a spectrum.
[She keeps having to have this discussion.]
Second, my name is Raine Sage, and I run the Healers' Guild in the Water sector. If you're interested in a job, I'd like to speak to you in person.
video;
At her words John gives her a smile and a light chuckle.]
I'm afraid I don't know much about the magic aspect of it. It didn't exist where I'm from outside of sleight of hand tricks but I realize that not everyone comes from a world like that. Unfortunately I didn't get a whole lot of opportunity to learn about healing magic - or any magic at all.
[If he hadn't been on board the Charon, John would probably still be denying that magic existed at all so at least there's that.]
Nice to meet you. I'm definitely interested in a job and available to talk whenever you are.
video;
That's the case with many Earths, I've found. It does make holding a serious conversation difficult when one party is convinced I'm talking about a hoax.
[It puts John ahead of some, at least.]
Sooner is better. We've lost some staff recently, including my -- second-in-command, roughly. If you can find your way to Water, I can meet you for tea this afternoon. Will that do?

[ John? ]
[ He certainly doesn't recognise the words "Zelian", "COMPASS", or the "Charon." They're obviously significant to John but in that case Sherlock would probably recognise them too. But he doesn't and that fact is grading on his nerves. ]
Really John, you should know batter then to publicly announce your full identity to a group of strangers in an unknown location.

Where are you now?

Not too worried about that. [READ AS: he's armed.]

You'd do better to talk to Raine about employment, but we always appreciate medical volunteers at the shelter if you find yourself with spare time.
[audio]
She's already contacted me about it. Got an appointment with her already. Anything I can do to help, I will certainly make time for.
[Mostly because sometimes he doesn't sleep so well these days and working keeps him distracted.]

When you do get settled, the shelter is in the Earth Sector if you'd like to stop by. I'm... a bit fuzzy on who we've got for medical volunteers at the moment, actually. I should probably find that out.

Well, we've certainly a place for you at the Guild, darling.
[ She's at least British. ]
But that would be Raine's area. Welcome to the Turtle, darling.
Video
Thanks. Definitely still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I'm walking around on the back of a turtle. It's certainly different than what I'm used to.

[ Come work with the nice nurse, doctor. ]
My name is Heather. I'm a nurse at the guild.

[Which could be good or not.]
Not particularly, no. Magic was just some sort of trick people did for entertainment. I did spend some time in another world where people could use magic, though. It was amazing. Unbelievable at times but still amazing.
Re: text;
This... isn't the first different world you've been to? How did you get there?
