I have a question.

[ She's got her hair up in a messy bun. At least she's being seen? She's still pretty scarce, but she's coming out of hiding a bit. ]

How often do people get things from home? I mean something you know you left at home and is now here.

I got a photo from home is why I ask. I wasn't expecting it, and it looks like the real thing? Though why it wouldn't be is beyond me.

I was just wondering.

I just got my laptop. I was there for it - between one breath and the next, there it was.

[ At the risk of breaking in on Brigid's space before she's 'ready'- ]

It's something to do with the Dreaming, I think?

Whatever magic brings us here also seems to bring other items. I haven't experienced this personally myself, but I've heard a bit about it.

No. I think part of it is that most of my possessions are pretty fungible. Books, electronics.

Maybe I just haven't been around long enough.

I had my backpack with me when I got pulled over, so I actually have mine already.

Well, I mean... it's at home. It's there when I want to go back to it.

If anything, I suppose I would wish for my father... that happens sometimes, loved ones visiting.

I'd like that more than any personal possessions.

I found a picture from home once, too. Last year, I think? And I got my favorite coat. The Dreaming sometimes just brings us stuff at random, dunno why.
lasergrenades: (Pleased)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2017-03-19 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh, yeah. It gets really cold in New England in the winter - having a good coat that's warm and stylish is a total must. [She sounds pleased about this accomplishment, but her smile softens a little.] Plus, it's just nice to have things from home.
lasergrenades: (All the thoughts)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2017-03-25 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Well, there you go. Do you not have a favorite? Seems like it'd be important, Boston gets worse than Manhattan.
lasergrenades: (Chatting)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2017-03-25 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Pepper is not entirely certain if Brigid is calling her childish or not, and decides to give her the benefit of the doubt, by and large.]

Doesn't mean you can't have a favorite now, too. Purple's a good color, though. My armor's purple and it's probably the best outfit I have. [She's joking; the armor did not count as an outfit. A high-tech prosthesis was the most accurate description, she'd been told.] You'll probably get more things from home every so often, if you're here for a while.
lasergrenades: (Grin)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2017-03-26 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Pepper is perhaps too sensitive about such things, it's true.]

Yep! I was wearing it when I got here, so it came with me. It's power armor, like Tony's if you've ever seen his. Mine's prettier, though. [And slightly less beat up, since she hasn't been here as long as Tony.] It flies and has laser grenades. [She's very proud.]
lasergrenades: (happy)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2017-03-27 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I fly it on night patrols for the police force, and it's been super useful for things like the storm cleanup or the big turtle move we had a while back. I haven't used it in a fight, though. [Beat.] Well, not a real fight. Tony and I went a few rounds in the gladiator rings in Hatal.
lasergrenades: (Shrug)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2017-03-31 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
It's not that dangerous on it's own; I've only ever had one problem with it. I got used to flying enough before coming here, and I've had the chance to keep practicing. Not so much the fighting, but I don't mind the break I get from that in Keeliai. All the weaponry parts can be turned off when I don't need them.

[So they basically haven't been on since coming here.]

Flying is super fun, though. I can take you up some time, if you'd like.
lasergrenades: (Heh)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2017-04-10 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, gotcha. Not a fan of flying, no worries.

[She gets it, mostly. Airplanes were not all that fun, and honestly a lot less safe than the armor, but you had to be wearing it to get all the perks.]

That's a looong trip. Did you go on your own?
lasergrenades: (Chatting)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2017-04-24 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's a pretty long hike for only staying a week. That's cool you went overseas for school - it seems like most people stay closer to home, for whatever reason.

DO you live with your uncle, then?

[Despite recent events leading her to a more distracted look on average...Zatanna allowed herself a moment of proper thought to the question before answering.]

I think...it used to happen a little more often way back when. We'd make landfall at whatever continent Asti saw fit to drift towards at the time, and people would come across certain items from home.

But yeah, it does still happen from time to time. Only less on land and more around the city.
backwordscompatible: (looking up)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2017-03-21 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
[That was good to know. Although, as a follow-up question:]

Are you worried it will get damaged?
backwordscompatible: (pic#5193501)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2017-03-21 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Vague. And also completely understandable, no matter what exactly she meant by that. It also told Zatanna she needed to tread a bit lighter than usual on this subject, which was why she paused for a moment to think before opening her mouth again.]

There are ways to protect it, if you're interested.
backwordscompatible: (Explaining)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2017-03-22 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Magic.

Protection spells. I know a few different levels, depending upon what exactly you're looking for. And before you ask, yes, I've done them before. I have a bunch up around the Welcome Center, even. Otherwise it would be pretty dumb to keep the front door unlocked at night, you know?
backwordscompatible: (job well done)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2017-03-23 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah, easily.

Under a certain limit, this is one of those areas where size doesn't really matter.
backwordscompatible: (proud)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2017-03-25 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
[She shook her head.]

No, not at all.

Stop by the Welcome Center any time. We'll figure out which set up works best for you. Once we have all the necessary ingredients, it shouldn't take long at all.

My- [ Let's not call it a Warframe so we can avoid the inevitable follow up questoins. ] -something of mine washed up on the edge of the turtle around the time we were docked in Tavimbi.

It wasn't anything particularly fragile like a book, more like... [ She doesn't want to call Mag a 'weapon' even though that's what she ostensibly was. ] A piece of machinery. Tony and Deon were able to help me clean up the superficial damage and get it in working order.
ten_zero: (laugh)

[personal profile] ten_zero 2017-03-23 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Deon is gone now, but Tony has been helping people with technical-based problems for awhile, it seems.
