Midsummer Ball Announcement

[Valdis appears happier than people might be used to seeing. She has a genuine smile gracing her features, and a sly look in her eyes.]

I am happy to announce that on August twenty first, we will be having a Midsummer Ball at the Courtyard of Public Opinion. Everyone is invited and it is sure to be a wonderful evening.

Formal attire is a must. I have the names of a few tailors that do excellent work if anyone is interested.

[Because who doesn't love pretty dresses and suits]

For security, I will have KPD officers working the event and all foreigner officers are required to attend in order to help keep an eye on things.

[And no, there is no getting out of it.]

Weather permitting, events will start around three in the afternoon. Anyone who would like to volunteer for setup is welcome to help. We will be setting up the night of the twentieth with finishing touches added the next day.

I'm much better at grinding them into medicines and cooking spices than I am arranging colors. Do you have any particular flowers in mind?

Not really, mostly the ones from the gardens. Arranging them isn't too hard, there are some florists in the city who have volunteered to help as well.

[Oh thank goodness. Professionals.]

I've been to the flower shops before. Their displays are always so pretty.

Maybe I can ask Adrien for help. He might have a better chance at knowing what to do.

You mean Anani? I don't control him, he does what he wants, when he wants. So I'm sure he'll get into some sort of mischief.

How long have you had him? I don't think I ever asked before.

A little over a year. He just showed up at the Hotel one day and didn't leave.

He's lucky to have found you, then. Not everybody would be willing to let a pet do as they please.

[Then again, many of the Foreigners had always been pretty good about free will; she'd had far more freedom as a child than she probably should have.]

I do hope he decides to come. It would be nice to have some company that night.

Well, he's a cat, I'm pretty sure they always do as they please.

Do you have any idea how many people will come? It's been a while since we've had a celebration like this.

I hope many, but with this heat...we'll see.

Is there any way it could be held inside, where the air would be a bit cooler?

That's true...I can see if we can get some of the surrounding buildings to host parts of the ball, as a back up if it is too hot.

I'm sure there will be plenty of people who'd appreciate that, if it were to happen.
