Who here has heard the phrase "the calm before the storm"?

It's true, you know. Before something big happens, a hurricane, a tsunami, an ambush - the birds go quiet, the animals go to ground.

Sometimes I think they're smarter than us.

It's too quiet. I don't like it.

It is not unwise to be suspicious of a lull in activity - especially after the slew of more recent incidents.

However, it is not unwise to make use of the quiet to prepare oneself as best as possible.

And perhaps take a much needed breather.

That's true. It has been quiet. It's been months since I came across any cases.

What are you expecting to happen?

Having an instinct or special sense doesn't make you smarter, just more attuned to a particular signal.

All an animal does in such a circumstance is run and hide. We have much more sophisticated methods of preparing for danger.
