[ the feed cuts on and Inara is positioned behind the console, smiling lightly with crimson lips pulled upwards as she regarded the camer thoughtfully. She is cleaned up and prepped for a public chat, hair dried and styled as well as she was able. ]

Good evening, everyone. My name is Inara Serra, and I have recently found myself a bit out of sorts with my arrival in this strange place. I would cry kidnapping, but I hardly think that is the case.

I was wondering - and hoping - that there might just be someone I know here. Please, if you recognize me, I would greatly appreciate if it you could respond.

Also, if anyone could perhaps explain a bit more about what this place is and how I might have come to be here - and why - I would also be greatly indebted to you.

Well...yes. I rent a shuttle on one, actually.

[ it has IMPORTANT THINGS in it, but not panicking is good. ]

[She sounds genuinely sincere about renting a shuttle on a spaceship. Usually, that kind of crazy can be spotted from miles away. So either this woman is really dedicated to her delusion, or this place really is that insane. Haytham, after all, was from the past. It might work both ways.]

This is going to be a strange question, but if I asked you what year it was, what would you say?

Rented is a better term.

[ She says that like an after thought, though she still has yet to remove all of her things from the shuttle. She'd accumulated so much in the time she'd spent there... ]

[ Also, this woman thinks Inara is insane. She can read it in her expression and the tone of her voice. ]

[She mouths a silent "oh" and nods her head in commiseration.]

Sometimes it feels like they're not far removed from banging rocks together.

Oh, did they stop doing that? I must have missed it.

[That earns a genuine laugh.]

[ Inara's smiling too, and it's definitely more genuine now than before. She's still tense because what do you mean giant floating turtle, but there's not nearly so much coiled energy in her expression and posture. ]

I don't think I caught your name.

I'm Elena, Elena Fisher.

Inara. It's nice to meet you, Elena. I wish it were under better circumstances.

I don't know how much help this would be, but maybe if you told me a little about the people you're looking for, I could keep an eye out for you?

Hmm. [ this makes her smile faintly. ]

You'd know them, I think, if they made an appearance. They are not very subtle.

[She nods, a wry grin playing on her lips as she recalls a certain discussion about subtlety and how that ended in explosions.]

Yeah, I think I know the type. I'll keep my ear to the ground for mayhem and anyone mentioning spaceships.

[ oh yes she's familiar with that. NOTHING EVER GOES SMOOTHLY. ]
