[AUDIO]
I haven't really done one of these.
[A short pause.]
Wasn't going to do one.
[Another short pause.]
Figured it'd be too much like I'd be one bad day away from ending up under a blanket screaming 'leave Britney alone!'.
[A snort of amusement with a bitter edge.]
But that's, I was being stupid. I didn't think a place like this was going to be dangerous,
[A long pause, then he continues in a decidedly fake amused voice.]
You'd think I'd know that already, I've seen The Chronicles of Narnia.
[A laugh that fades into a sigh.]
Anyway, I'm just giving a quick shoutout, Asami, Short-And-Grumpy, Annabeth, Criminally Handsome, Little-Panda-Guy and my fellow rooftop dweller; seriously hoping you guys are okay.
If you - or anyone hearing this - needs anything just say the word.

[Does short-and-grumpy sound offended at the stupidity? He sure does!
He has high standards for costumed vigilantes, okay?]
One would be very enthusiastic to trust you with asking for your help, after that admission, don't you think?
no subject
You're right.
[Because he is.]
Maybe I was just hoping it wouldn't be. New to this, like you said, still a little naive perhaps.
[Static over the line as he rubs a hand through his hair. Then - after the silence - his voice comes back stronger.]
But I won't let anyone else get hurt if I can stop it.
no subject
Damian pretty much snaps at him.]
Then stop being naive. Or find somebody to watch your back and train you who isn't. The people we are up against are not novices.
no subject
He lets silence play, feeling a smile - small but definitely there - grow on his face for the first time since blood spattered across the festival]
Don't worry about me kid, I learn fast.
no subject
>Tt.< I was worried about the people whose lives you'll put in danger while you're learning.
[No, he wasn't. Well, yes, he was, but he does prefer if the people who try to work for the safety of the population stay at least moderately functional.]
no subject
Maybe.
Eh, probably not.]
Look, I'm trying really, really hard to not clutch at my chest and screech 'I would never!'
[Peter bumps the last three words up an octave.]
'cause I know you mean well - in a seriously mean, mean way - so I'm just going to go with I'm doing my best, okay? We can't all child genius'; but when the alternative is sitting back and doing nothing?
[a moment of silence]
That's not an option.
[And it seems he's actually getting a little angry. Though maybe not at Robin. Well, not completely at Robin]
no subject
I've heard that there are other ways in which people don't do 'nothing,' too.
[Superior and entitled? Check. But, basically, Damian is a brat, this is a situation where everybody having their heads in the game matters, and he's unlikely to let up. Regrettably.]
Glad you're okay. If you need a partner for... you know... rooftop stuff - someone to watch your back or whatever - you can give me a call.
no subject
[A laugh, let's share this moment of amused frustration with that kid.]
And thanks, I guess we just have to wait and see how all this plays out.
[audio]
Well, I guess we know better now.
[finding camaraderie in this seriously messed up situation]

But I think even for people with a bit of guard up, everything that happened was still a little unexpected. The kedan most of us encountered were welcoming. The division among them was the unclear part.
no subject
It's, well I don't know. Whatever this division is, it feels like it was here long before we got here.
no subject
I agree. It's possible our sudden presence intensified it.
no subject
I think it's going to be something we're all going to have to watch out for though.
[He laughs.]
And here I was thinking the afterlife was supposed to be the end of all worries.
no subject
I don't think even the afterlife can do that. If it even is the afterlife, which I don't believe. I've been there, and this isn't it.
no subject
Looks like the future's going to get pretty interesting for us, doesn't it?

[It's weird - talking like this - over a computer feels so impersonal and hard; Peter wasn't even fond of it in his world. It's too difficult, talking when he can't see the other's reactions.]
You okay, where you are?
[audio]
[A pause -- she's not sure if he's noticed they're in the same building or not, but she doesn't bring it up yet]
My apartment. Why?
[She gives a bit of a salute to the camera.]
You got away okay, right?
[Audio]
[Flustered, wow he sounds flustered. All the worry; Asami seems a little fragile to him]
Me? Yeah, no, I'm fine, I'm fine. I wasn't, I wasn't close. I was. I was pretty far away.
[she may or may not have been right on the scene.]
[audio]
Yeah - I was lucky - were you, were you too close? Actually, you don't have to answer that, if you don't want to. What do you think it was all about?
[audio]
[aka: she got Yue away from the danger, and Nita made sure the other woman was safe. Everyone else seemed like they could protect themselves, and she hasn't heard of any other casualties. That's a good day, in her book.]
Um. I'm not sure, but... do you really think it's a good idea to talk about on these consoles? I mean, the kedan did build them.
[audio]
You're probably right. I swear, I'm not always this stupid.
[He smiles, even though she can't see it]
I'll talk to you next time we run into each other, okay?
[audio]
video
I see you have not been defeated by the riotous reaction. Your Kung Fu is stronger than it appears.
Re: video
Yeah, my kung fu. You got out okay?
[You're small okay? You're totally going to be worried about, no matter how good at balancing you are.]
video
Yes. I am fine.
[No bragging, no posing. A statement. Simple.]
And my name is Shifu.
no subject
[audio]
[audio]
Yes yes, snookums -- I'm quite fine.
[audio]
[Snookums?]
[audio]
Are you asking me out on a date?
[audio]
Then he laughs an awkward laugh; one that halts, starts up again and then stops again. Peter's not sure if he's being serious, or joking, or offended, or a million things.]
I'm not, I wasn't asking you out. I wasn't doing that..
[He literally has no idea how to respond to that.]
Just. Well I thought.
[Peter scratches his head.]
I am presuming we'll see each other. At sometime. In the future. Or something.
[audio]
Megamind smirks and is now realizing just why that long haired weirdo had goaded him so badly.
It’s fun.]
Ah. Atop a roof under the moonlit sky?
[audio]
[Okay, now Peter's pretty sure he's being messed with. That's odd, being teased without actual malice. He laughs.]
Maybe, if we're lucky.
[audio]
This is way better.]
Sounds romantic.
