[The feed opens up on a...pretty beat up redhead. Dried blood, bruises starting to form, cuts and scrapes, everything short of bullet wounds, really.

Those were healed before he woke up.

It takes a second for him to realize that he got it to start recording and he blushes a bit. Not that you can tell with all the bruising and whatnot, but. He looks like any beat-up 19th century Frenchman: dirty, bloody shirt, bloody blue waistcoat...basically, he didn't bother to clean up before figuring out this console.

When he speaks, his voice is fairly soft and he's terribly awkward, and not just because he's talking into a box]

The gentleman who brought me here said I could use this...device to contact others in the city. Does...is anyone else here from Paris? If so, are you familiar with Les Amis de l'ABC? My name is Jehan--Jean, but I prefer Jehan--Prouvaire, and I need to know if I'm the only one of us here. If I am not, could you please direct me to my friends?

Yeah; I'm only 15, man. I could get a fine and community service for that, and no way I'm cleaning up parks and stuff.

Camp is like summer camp, except your fellow campers are demigods, and we train by climbing up flaming walls and swordfighting and stuff. Pretty fun as long as we remember to stay alive. [ he sounds like he's joking but HAHA NO ]

Please, speak plainly. The gods--Apollo, Artemis, Dionysus--they exist? At least...where you are from?

Yes, the gods do exist! Apollo, Artemis, Dionysus, the whole shebang--er, that means everything ever. Though, just between you and me, Mr. D--Dionysus, or well, Bacchus, at least--is kind of a jerk. Er, I mean, an ass. You olden French guys do say "ass", don't you?

Exactly like what you'd think! When a god and a mortal love each other... Well, you know. There are a lot of demigods in our world, though normal people don't have a clue who is and who isn't.

[ the humorous tone returns ] So maybe you've been around gods and demigods before and you just didn't know it.

No, I'm fairly certain someone would have said something, as often as I go on about the Classics. I study them, some.

Because my friends enjoy proving one another wrong almost as much as fighting for the people. No one would have been able to resist.

Of course they'd say that gods don't really exist, though, unless they're demigods themselves. And even then, I'm not really sure they'd go telling you about their godly parents.

[ there's an evident pause, because he's not actually up to telling random french boys about his parents, or how his mother died and how it still hurts, and how his father sucks and how he never feels that he belongs anywhere.

But he quickly puts on a cheery smile when he catches himself stalling ]

Maybe I am? [ and a bit overdramatically ] But why would you care, though? You don't believe in the existence of gods or demigods.

I never said that. I said I studied the Classics and discuss the gods.

Alright, cool then! I'm not big on Classics, but we can totally discuss gods. Want to know who's a jerk and who isn't?

Hercules. [ he rolls his eyes at that ] He's not as cool as you'd expect, really. He's super cranky, and he almost tried to kill me and my friends, too.
