001; Video | Off my lawn you hipsters
[ There’s a narrow face peering close at the console - high cheekbones and a nasty scar poking out from under the red cloth that covers the man’s right eye. Or lack thereof. He peers for a moment before leaning back, arms crossing as he speaks up. ]
I’m looking for other Scoia’tael in the area. I’d settle for another elf alone, between the mass of humans milling around here. [ A derisive snort, and Iorveth looks to the side for the moment - pointed ears at the side of his head incidentally apparent. ] The dh’oine stink of this place is enough to make one gag.
[ A moment of contemplation and the elf picks at the dirt under blunted nails idly as he speaks. ]
I’ve set my camp in a tree on the outskirts of the wood sector. [ His tone goes a little deadpan, with the same kind of condescension in it, but it’s very matter of fact. ] It’s a mass of wooden planks, rope, rough cloth and a six foot, one eyed elf - it shouldn’t be that hard to miss. I’m giving you dh’oine fair warning - there are traps laid around the perimeter and any who manage to pass those will take an arrow between the eyes.
If there’s a need for me to say it more than once, your race will likely be better off without you.
[ A pause, and he’s about to end the transmission, when he glances back, considering. ]
Gwynbleidd - If you’re here, come speak with me.
[[ ooc; On translations: I left the original Elder Speech words in here, even though they’ll be understood by anyone listening just like anything else, mainly to signal when Iorveth’s accent would have shifted between what he understands as Common and what he says in Elder speech. ANYWHO. Here.
Scoia’tael - directly translated: squirrels. It’s a band of nonhuman guerrilla warriors, though. But all that would be understood is ‘squirrels’ :’|
dh’oine - human. spoken in a derogatory tone

Also, um. Most of the foreigners here are humans. I promise we're not all that bad, and you might want to cool it on the death threats.
[ There's a snort at 'we're not all that bad', but he ignores that part otherwise. ] It's a warning, not a death threat. If no one comes wandering near where I'm camped then it hardly matters.
It's practically courtesy. [ considering his usual interactions with humans. ]
And that... might make sense if you weren't camped in a city. Even if part of it is made of trees. Someone's probably gonna wander by.
Would you like me to put up a sign, for the especially unobservant?
And uh... yeah, actually. Most people don't see treehouse in the Wood Sector and automatically think fantasy novel escapee sniping at anyone who gets close.
The traps will stop them before the sniping. And the sign defeats the purpose of traps a little. ...Fantasy?
And wouldn't it be easier warning people off with signs than having to pull people out of traps?
[ There's a long pause while she considers his question, and then says slowly: ] We don't have elves where I'm from. We have stories about them, though.
Implying I'd be pulling them out at all. [ They got into it, they can get themselves out :| ] What manner of stories?
Umm... usually they're the kind of stories with lots of magic and battles and stuff. Or some big bad evil that has to be destroyed. And they're not just about elves, there's humans and dwarves and wizards and all that too, but there're elves... in them...
It seems enough like my world, aside from the nonhumans and humans fighting side by side rather than against one another. [ Granted, Vergen had been a different story, but he's accrediting that completely to Saskia. He'd heard what the townspeople said of the Scoia'tael occupying the area. ] The evil is less apparent, however. And often imagined.
Anyway... yeah. That's about what most people here will know about elves, I think. And even if you don't like humans... which, I get if you've been fighting or whatever... most of the foreigners are, and I'd trust them a lot more than I'd trust the kedan.
