[The suite is dark, all of the windows blacked out or curtains drawn and layered thickly upon her arrival. Mavis can be seen by the light of the console screen, however, and her expression is a cross between nervous and excited.]

This place is so different. There's nice kedan around to explain things. And people! Actual humans here! I can hardly believe it! That's so seriously cool!

[She shifts in her chair, almost bouncing with that nervous excitement.]

So, uh, hi. [She waves at the screen.] My name is Mavis Dracula.

[She bites her lip, a quick flickering of doubt accompanying the crossing of her fingers. The hope is evident in her gesture: Please, please let the humans like her! And not turn out to be murderously anti-vampire.]

Wait, you found some willing to explain things to you?

[BECAUSE NO ONE WOULD HAVE MADE THAT JOKE OTHERWISE, GOSH]

Also...Dracula? Like the vampire Dracula?

[...yeah, the whole excitement over actual humans thing was definitely giving that surname a few implications it might not have had otherwise.]

[The pretty red headed human looking at her through the video feed is smiling and looks terribly well put together.]

Dracula? An interesting sir name. I'm Pepper Potts. Is there anything I can help clarify for you?

Of course I did! [There's a bit of shock that he didn't.] Those guys that brought you to town didn't tell you anything?

[Whoa. Maybe they just liked her-- HOLY RABIES, WAIT. HE'S A HUMAN! And he's talking to her! She's back to nervous smiles, though it's hard to curb the usual eyeroll at the name.]

Yeah, that's me. [A nervous laugh.] Daughter of Dracula. [She tries to shrug it off . NO BIGGIE, she's totally not the celebrity that the name suggests. ] That's... cool, right?

[What an interesting choice in interior decorating. Lyall can read a lot into that, though he's not actually pinged by her last name.]

A pleasure, Miss Dracula- though I would caution you that not all of us are human.

[Oh dang, we have some serious internal conflict going on here. On the one hand, she seems friendly enough, and really cute, but on the other... Vampire. He knows they're not all evil, but Santo really doesn't want his ~~nonexistent~~ blood sucked.]

Oh yeah, humans as far as the eye can see. What's so great about that? [Part mutant pride going on here, and partly because it's his "subtle" way of gauging if she's hungry for them?]

[Oh, wolfman, another human!! With a name! ...that sounds like a condiment? Mavis bounces a shade in her chair and tries to settle down.]

Yeah, I guess. I got it from my dad. My mom-- [A pause and a flicker of sadness that she shakes off.] -- she had a different name, but I was raised by my dad, so Dracula it is!

[OhmygoreohmyGORE she's holding a conversation with a human! And there's no sign of pitchforks or torches in sight!]

I'm just... Well, I've never actually met a human! Are you guys for real?

Well, they told me a few things. Same as everyone else. But there's a lot of things they don't tell us.

[There's a frustrated sigh at that, too. He hates how annoying it is trying to get what should be basic information. Either in costume or out of it.]

...I'd probably be more skeptical about Dracula being real if it weren't for the fact we just got over being attacked by zombies. Or the whole "ghosts" thing.

[Or Hellboy, who was pretty much a trip in his own right.]

You're not going to go around drinking people's blood or anything...right?

[Because that would be the opposite of cool, Mavis :| ... you cannot just go around eating people, it's rude]

[That's not what she expected at all. Mavis squints at the screen. Funny, he looks human.]

Well, yeah. [She's trying to sound informed about this.] There's lots of kedan here too, right?

Or-- [Another close look.] -- are you talking about -- [She drops her voice to a hopeful whisper.] -- monsters?

[Because having humans is GREAT, but fellow monsters would be cool too.]

[That's not a human. Wow, that is so not a human. Mavis looks sideways at the screen a second, trying to remember if she's seen him at the hotel. He kind of reminds her of a golem, but Uncle Frank and Aunt Eunice are the only one's she's met and they're made of flesh.]

Wow. I'm sorry, I didn't realise there were other monsters here... [She trails off, staring blankly for a second.] Holy rabies, wait a second! You're here! Living with humans?!

Some of us prefer not to be referred to that way, but yes. I, for instance, am a werewolf.

[He does not whisper that. He hasn't found any reason to be particularly secretive about it- they're fully accepted back home, after all.]

Like what?

[Honest question here. Kedan wouldn't lie to her, right? Okay, well, she's supposed to be suspicious of humans because they want to steal her candy, but lies? That seems a bit far.]

Trust me, you're not the first. Most people don't believe my dad is Dracula but-- [Her nervous mile-a-minute explanation stops.] Whoa. Zombies attacked you? That's so not cool. Monsters stopped attacking humans ages ago. Did you guys rip up their gardens or something?

[Because what else could trigger zombie anger? Mavis is pretty sure she's never seen an angry zombie, probably because emotions are the first thing to rot off them.]

And-- [Mavis looks pretty aghast at the idea of drinking human blood. She even turns a bit green around the fangs.] Ew. Ew, no. My dad says to never eat humans. We have no idea where they've been! I eat blood substitutes. [And scream cheese. And wormcakes.]

[She looks cute. But that doesn't mean she isn't dangerous.]

[Although Ava doubts she'd go around announcing her name was Dracula if she was really that dangerous...] So where were you before? If there weren't humans.

Why not? [That's kind of what they are, after all, but-- cool! A werewolf.] Hey, do you know Wayne and Wanda? I haven't seen them here, but if you're here, it's totally possible!

In my world, we prefer the term 'supernatural'. Only those who don't like us refer to us as monsters.

[It's strange to see such a young-looking vampire- especially a female vampire outside of a hive. He's going to chalk it up to world differences and be tactful about it.]

Usually anything involving details. The biggest one is why we were brought here in the first place. I doubt you'd even be able to get them to explain why the zombies wanted to attack us so badly. Or why they were so far underwater to begin with.

[He's a bit relieved when she explains there's not going to be much risk of her using people for food, but...less so when he hears what makes up her usual diet.]

...that's...not good...can you eat anything else? At all?

[Ava, how could you suspect this darling face? Look at those widdle fangs? That she's... baring in a smile... Okay, fine.]

I was at home. [This makes perfect sense. Mavis knows that the hotel's supposed to be secret, so she doesn't go on about that, trying a different thread.] We monsters don't live near the humans. It's... weird. We haven't for decades. I was just going to visit a nearby village for the first time before, well... this place. [This wonderful, human-filled place.]

They told me that the Emperor knew that. [Completely content with that answer. Mavis is a wee bit worried about being here suddenly, especially because her dad might enter a bloodthirsty rage if she has actually been batnapped, but she figured this Emperor sent him a message to let him know she was needed here. Wherever here is.] They said he had audiences all the time, so I figured I could find out then.

[She sounds perfectly perky and happy with that answer, though her expression becomes troubled at his concern.]

I'm sure there must be some around. Do you guys have a Quasimodo here? He makes the best O-Positive sundae ever. [And she's excited again, though okay, if he's asking.] I mean, I could probably make do with wormcakes and scorpions, but they're not as filling.

I guess mons-- [Whoa, fang pas there Mavis!] -- supernatural folk are different outside of Transylvania.

[Mavis is now equally curious about his werewolfisms as she is about all the humans around here.]

Wow, you're a professor and a werewolf? [She pauses and looks at him.] You don't look very furry for a werewolf. [Maybe a halfblood?]

Every place has its little peculiarities.

[Mavis is very peculiar for vampires as he knows them, for instance.]

Yes, I am. I study sheep. [He's just forestalling the inevitable question there.] And I am occasionally much furrier.

[He'll let someone else destroy that optimism. For now, he's considering "try to find a way to help the newcomer not starve" to be a little higher on the priority list.]

That's what I was afraid of. I'm not sure we have any of that here. Or a Quasimodo, at least not as far as I know.

[PLEASE BE SAFE EATING MOSTLY HUMAN-ISH FOOD NEW FRIEND, DON'T STARVE]

Then you are definitely missing out! [That's a bit of a gush of praise and pride for the culinary reputation of her father's hotel.]

You guys don't have any bugs here? [That earns a weird look.] I guess I could go on a scream cheese diet... [A hopeful lightening of her features.] Do you guys have candy?

You study sheep? [Squint. That's a bit like a vampire studying humans...] That must be really tasty work.

[Meanwhile, the occasional bit is curious. Wayne and Wanda are always in were form. The idea of a full moon cycle is pretty abnormal.]

So, you're a werewolf that studies sheep and isn't furry all the time. [She counts off the points on her hand.] Are you an American werewolf? [She hears that they're odd like that.]

It does provide the occasional bit of mutton. [He's actually more fond of fish himself, but the pack does appreciate the presence of his flock of sheep.]

American? Heavens, no. [That's almost more offensive than calling him a monster.] I'm British, in fact.

[Mavis turns thoughtful.] Tons of monsters -- [Whoops!] -- er, sorry -- supernaturals come through the hotel, but I've never met a British werewolf. Don't you travel?

If you're used to referring to us as monsters, don't go to any trouble on my account. I do remember the days when that was what everyone called us. [He does appreciate the effort, but it's ultimately unnecessary.]

I don't believe Transylvania is on our list of usual destinations. Perhaps it should be- you say you have a hotel?
