[ Iorveth is set up at one of the cafe consoles inner city for once, and perhaps his first time. While he does seem uncomfortable in the setting, eyes occasionally sliding to passing strangers, particularly if they appear human, he's mostly focus on a book held in his hands over the keyboard of the console. ]

Are there any books of actual, useful content on this damned turtle? At least something aside from volume upon volume of poetry? [ A finger flips a page, and he lets out a deflating sigh, muttering as he glances over the text. ] Particularly bad poetry at that... I know drunken, randy taedh who produce better while wooing uninterested tavern wenches.

[ He clears his throat, adjusting in his seat for a moment to settle the bow strapped to his back more comfortably before continuing. ]

I've yet to find any solid history on Tu Vishan outside of... Old Jinsan's ogre of a great-grandfather... [ eyeroll, that had been a fun hour of old man rambling to listen to ] and civil wars that I assume were responsible for the burnt out villages beyond the outskirts of Keeliai. Which aren't much worth visiting unless you've a liking for rusted gardening tools.

[ A grumble and the book in his hand is snapped shut, tossed aside on a nearby table with some local drink he'd decided to try. ] Nothing giving more detail on the plight of the mainland turtles. Neén en bloede aedd. You'd think it may be a point of interest, considering.

[ Considering Tu Vishan seems like it's suffering a kind of sickness of it's own. A pause and he squints at the console for a moment, thinking. ]

If you've more information, I would appreciate it. I'll be taking another venture out onto the wastelands tomorrow. [ Read: Vague invitation for anyone who'd like to help investigate to come along, but there are definitely some people he will outright refuse. ] Company may not be refused, provided you don't nurse a habit of incessant small talk, or happen to be someone I despise.

I have seen no history, nor anything on the matter of other turtles. It seems as though there is a strong effort made to limit what we may discover- I have heard the Emperor's library has more, but I cannot be sure.

[Yeah, he might have heard all that before, but confirmation from another source isn't a bad thing, right?]

I've heard the same, but if the Emperor herself wants the knowledge kept from us, I doubt I'll find what I'm looking for.

[ It's not a bad thing, no. Hrm, still not a great situation however. ]

All knowledge is worth having. A noticeable lack of knowledge still tells us something.

That her reason for bringing us hence is something we're meant to be ignorant of. We're to go blindly into carrying out her bidding, it seems.

Yes, she goes beyond simply not telling us to actively keeping it from us. Our ignorance is not a state she has any desire to change- and it is possible she will work against efforts on our parts to do so.

Then we'll have to make our efforts more stern. [ He's got no problem doing illegal things to get what he wants. ]

So it would seem. Though one must tread carefully when another seems to hold all the power.

Ayd f'haeil moen Hirjeth taenverde. [ "Conquer with courage rather than strength". While Tu Vishan translates it to a commonly understood language, his tone is thickly accented, different from his normal speech. ] Should it come to that, I'd rather a careful plot than brute force.

Yes, I think that is the best way to do it. Courage and strength are hardly the same thing. It can take courage to be weak, too. And a careful plot is certainly... more advantageous at this time.

Courage is required for the weak and outnumbered, should they wish to rise above the lot given them.

A great deal of it, often. Hopefully there is a sufficient supply.

Aen Seidhe are not short on courage, nor strangers to disadvantaged battlefields. I will do what I can. I cannot speak for others here.

Aen Seidhe... [He rolls the name across his tongue, pronouncing it quite well.] 'Tis nearly a Cruithne word. Your people?

[aenseidhe]

Cruithne? [ There isn't actually an Ireland in his world, so the term goes over his head. ] Yes. As the humans would call us, 'elves', as it apparently overtaxes them to pronounce the proper name of our race.

A people to the north of us, across the Straits. They have a similar word, but not quite the same. [He remembers watching some courtiers stumble over basic Cruithne greetings when the Cruarch and his heir visited- it was painful.] Some people's tongues are not very agile.

Strange, that separate realms would hold such similarities. What are the people like? [ Would a language pass on with a race? ] Mh, perhaps. Learning that would require an initial attempt, however. [ Grumble grumble, biased hatred, lalala. ]

Shorter than we are, with darker hair. They tattoo themselves to mark events in their lives, and they are very noble, though more warlike than we.

[He nods.] I suppose it would.
