[ He'd gotten distracted with the spa day, happy vibes making him hippy out and sit on the beach smoking awesome elf weed, but as soon as Iorveth comes out of the spell, it comes to the front of his mind again - the conversation he had with the Emperor. It's extremely sensitive information and Iorveth isn't about to spill it to the general populace.

Hence the filter. However, Iorveth is from the 1200s and he has never done a filter before in his life and he already doesn't speak on this thing very often. So, uh, see Iorveth totally fail at it. Gdi. ]

I have information you'll want to know. I cannot share it here - you must come to the palace.

[ His done is serious, impassive. More so than he usually is, and forgive the ominousness. He's not about to test the 'don't speak the name outside the palace' rule. He pauses, swallowing, before he continues. ]

I know why we were brought here.

And what we are meant to battle.

[ He stares for a moment, eyes unfocused from the screen, within troubling thoughts, brow knit. ]

You may not like it.

[[ ooc; i know fail filters are dumb sometimes, but Iorveth icly would seriously tell only those five people and I didn't want to cut people off from srs plot info, so doing this for now. Granted, Iorveth will be shorter and more guarded with people not those five and people he doesn't like he may straight up refuse to tell them without convincing 8T he was the worst person to get this information p much, sob. ]]

[Reno looks fairly different from how he usually is on the network. Usually he's a bit more... Friendly. Carefree, even. (Initial post notwithstanding, of course.) Today he's serious, downright pensive perhaps. A bit troubled because a) he'd really not like to be making posts on the network at all, but also because he's 100% paranoid sure the Emperor or someone is probably keeping tabs on what they say on here.

There's no other way to go about it really, alas.]

So I've got a few questions.

[he holds up a finger, numbering each one as he goes]

One: How many of you have asked the Emperor for access to her library?

Two: How many of you have actually been granted access?

And three: How many of you have found anything that is - even by a stretch of the imagination - useful?

[He leans back in his seat and takes a sip of his tea (he's in a console cafe in Water, for the curious.) It's not bad, though maybe he's just not enough of a tea drinker to care. Anyway, he purses his lips in thought for a moment before his expression settles into an easy smile.]

"Now Reno," I hear you say, "what even counts as 'useful'? And what kind of question is this anyway?" And the short answer to that is that I have no idea. [he shrugs for emphasis] I imagine we all have a lot of different priorities here, everyone's gonna zero in on something different. Hence 'even by a stretch of the imagination'. Hell, you don't even need to tell me what it is. If it seems relevant enough to you, it's relevant enough to this impromptu survey of mine.

Just, I occasionally hear people talking about it like it's this holy grail of information, and I'm wondering if maybe we shouldn't be looking somewhere else. Not least until people start getting literate in the local languages.

Okay, the kedan are seriously getting on my nerves. [Ava's standing in front of her console just so she can keep her hands on her hips and glare unhappily down at the screen.] We didn't ask to be here!

And I really doubt we're gonna get any help we don't make people give us. So, I say we figure out who all's responsible for actual attacks on people and turn 'em over to the guards. Then they pretty much have to something, right?

And seriously, does anybody here know how to read this language yet?

[Witness one black eye, two splinted fingers, several exciting bruises, various superficial cuts. There's a big old nick in his leg, too, but nobody gets to see that because Guy's sitting down. Lounging, even.]

[Dramatic entrance. He's making one. Or a dramatic second entrance, anyway.]

I gotta ask if that's how all newcomers are treated. That whole song-and-dance about In Between? Not that I ain't heard weirder, I've heard weirder. But it's up there.

There oughta be something more than a hayride, though. Where's the feasting? Where's the celebration of my glorious arrival? I gotta tell you, I am not impressed.

If we make it to the land, can we.. actually go look around at the place without getting arrested?

And if so, who's going and why would you?

[Private to Kyle]
You can stop looking.

[Private to Bruce Banner] - (added a few hours later)
I have those blueberries, for you teaching me the code. Just don't ask where I got 'em.

[ clink ]

[ clink ]

[ clink-- POP ]

... there we are.

[ /ahem. ]

While I understand completely the feeling of inherent laziness that no doubt consumes those of shofter life spans, ironically enough, it simply boggles the mind that so much time and effort goes into the process of skinning, slicing, and preserving simple fruits far more easily obtained from a tree.

I doubt this is even a real peach.

[ there's something to be said about all the added sugar, though. It's like peach soup. ]

Of course, the obvious lack of bountiful orchards in the immediate vicinity is to be blamed currently, but one wonders where the fruits come from if not a garden or orchard nearby.

[ clink-- POP. Sigh. ]

Hm. Money that would've been far better spent on a book.

-- should anyone suffer from a sudden brain injury as a result of an errant can of carrots, you've my most sincere apologies.

[Much as he hates saying 'told you so'--no, that's a lie, he enjoys it very much sometimes--he just can't resist the urge. He's been watching the kedan get more and more aggressive by the day. Hell, he just lost his job, too. Good times.]

Considering everything that's happening, maybe the next time I tell you people that these kedan aren't friendlies, you'll actually listen.

[HAHA NO, NOBODY EVER LISTENS TO DEAN 8|]

[ Iorveth is set up at one of the cafe consoles inner city for once, and perhaps his first time. While he does seem uncomfortable in the setting, eyes occasionally sliding to passing strangers, particularly if they appear human, he's mostly focus on a book held in his hands over the keyboard of the console. ]

Are there any books of actual, useful content on this damned turtle? At least something aside from volume upon volume of poetry? [ A finger flips a page, and he lets out a deflating sigh, muttering as he glances over the text. ] Particularly bad poetry at that... I know drunken, randy taedh who produce better while wooing uninterested tavern wenches.

[ He clears his throat, adjusting in his seat for a moment to settle the bow strapped to his back more comfortably before continuing. ]

I've yet to find any solid history on Tu Vishan outside of... Old Jinsan's ogre of a great-grandfather... [ eyeroll, that had been a fun hour of old man rambling to listen to ] and civil wars that I assume were responsible for the burnt out villages beyond the outskirts of Keeliai. Which aren't much worth visiting unless you've a liking for rusted gardening tools.

[ A grumble and the book in his hand is snapped shut, tossed aside on a nearby table with some local drink he'd decided to try. ] Nothing giving more detail on the plight of the mainland turtles. Neén en bloede aedd. You'd think it may be a point of interest, considering.

[ Considering Tu Vishan seems like it's suffering a kind of sickness of it's own. A pause and he squints at the console for a moment, thinking. ]

If you've more information, I would appreciate it. I'll be taking another venture out onto the wastelands tomorrow. [ Read: Vague invitation for anyone who'd like to help investigate to come along, but there are definitely some people he will outright refuse. ] Company may not be refused, provided you don't nurse a habit of incessant small talk, or happen to be someone I despise.

Va faill.

[[ ooc; like the last post, I kept elder speech bits in to signal where his accent would change, as he switches between that and Common when he talks, though all the Elder Speech bits would be comprehended just as well /o/

[One of the first things you learn in the Turks is not to let your shitty mood interfere with your work. One of the other things he's learned in his time is that having too much pride makes an excellent painkiller. He's sort of come to turns with the fact that he doesn't know this place well enough yet to not ask for help, but by george is he ever unhappy about it. He can, however, do a quick once over of the last few months on the network and hide the fact that he is in agony right now - it's probably obvious that he's hurting, but he's also going ahead and acting like it's no big deal.

Have one battered and bloody redhead speaking to you all casually and whatnot, Keeliai!]

Just for reference: This definitely isn't the Lifestream?

[because that would suck. but he also feels like he'd know if he was dead, and so he presses on with that same tone.]

[SHRUG] Anyway, uh. I could really use a doctor or a heal or a potion, if any of those are things you have around here. [...] And a new shirt, while I'm at it.

Thanks. [should he introduce himself? ??? ??] Name's Reno, by the way.
