[After the encounter with Amon he wasn't much up to doing the usual Polite Politician bit, but he's had to do things he didn't really feel like doing enough times before that it's just routine by now. He clears his throat, straightens his robe a bit, and starts speaking.]

I seem to have been away for...a number of weeks, at least, if not months. I haven't quite worked out how long it's been yet.

I've noticed a couple familiar faces so far [Mostly, his brother.] but there are quite a few people I've never met, as well. So I may as well introduce myself again, with apologies for any redundancy.

I am Councilman Tarrlok, representative of the Northern Water Tribe. Unfortunately that probably doesn't mean much to most of you, but I have experience with political leadership and was trying to help out in any way I could before my ill-timed disappearance.

So, I hope to get to know you all again, and don't hesitate to ask me for help if you need it.

Tarlokk. [Name-as-greeting, purposefully eschewing his title.] I'm afraid there hasn't been much movement on the formation of a council in your absence, but we do have a welcoming committee now - and a building designated for use as a community center, which might make things easier.

[He notices the lack of his formal title, but brushes it off for now.] Any progress is good, I suppose.

...Has there been any major conflict that you know of?

[Ahahaha.] Depends on what you mean by conflict. The city was invaded by these... undead monsters, and the shell was damaged, which led to some verbal confrontations with the Emperor and Foreigner arrests.

Arrests? Over what? Just the verbal confrontations, or something else?

The turtle's shell was broken. Some of us trespassed on the repairs. [There's no way to tell what his feelings on the matter are.]

[Well...this is new, isn't it? His brows are drawn in, though one arches slightly and he stares. It's rude, but give him a moment.]

So hang on, you actually remember being here?

Yes. I was here for a few months, and to be honest it feels like yesterday even though I've been gone much longer.

[His mouth's now hanging open a little as he tries to compute this.]

You remember...I don't think any one's remembered...

Okay, yeah not a lot of people tend to come back but, wow that's so weird.

So nothing changed from back home that you remember? Was it like you just went to sleep and woke up again? Except for us, months had past?

Yes, exactly that. I didn't...go anywhere, as far as I know. I was worried I'd been injured or captured, but apparently I was just gone.

No apparently about it. No trace or anything.

Hm. A little discomforting that something like that can just happen without warning.

No kiddin'. [He's said no a lot...]

But hey, you're back here and...well I think that's the worst part. Being here I mean.

It's not all that bad. [Because he has bigger issues going on back home right now and honestly isn't sure if he wants to go back.]

Unless it's gotten worse over the last little while.

Well it hasn't gotten better. Most of the kedan still hate us, the Emperor is a total hardcore bitch. Anything goes down, we've to stay back.

Same stuff really, random things happening blah blah blah.

I don't particularly enjoy staying back, I admit. If they insist on keeping us here, we ought to be able to involve ourselves in business as we please.

Apparently we do more damage than good, which is complete BS. She made some announcement about it.

I think there has to be more to it than that. Either way, I have no intention of following her instructions without some chance for debate.

Exactly! For the moment this is our home too, right? So we should be able to fix it.

Good! There needs to be more people like us who'll stick up for, well us and not listen to her.

Unfortunately, we seem to be limited in what we can do without her permission. But we may as well do as much as we can.

Right and we can always do things behind her back or whatever.

[Mavis signs on from her suite, windows blacked-out and the lighting provided by the console is fortified by a few lit black candles scattered about. Her expression is pure happiness at another human.]

Hi! I'm Mavis. You weren't here when I got here, so it's been at least a week?

[Dookit how helpful she's being.]

From what I've heard, it's been longer than that.

Do you remember what happened when you went back?

[Because she's curious about being home... her dad's been working so hard to plan her birthday, she's worried about missing it even with the time being frozen.]

No, it was just like being asleep. It didn't even feel that long.

Did you dream about anything?

No. Or, if I did, I don't remember, anyways. [Though that was for the best as he expected his current dreams to be somewhat unpleasant.]

[Welp, that doesn't clear much of anything up. HM.]

I hope you found out how long you've been gone!

[Because tiny vampire feels bad that she can't really help.]

Not exactly, but close enough. It's been around a couple months, from the looks of things. I appreciate your concern, though.

It's nothing! That's what humans do for each other, right? [A beat.] You are human?

If you left here, how is that disappearance ill-timed?

I was trying to start up a council here to get us a bit more organized, but disappeared right in the middle of it.

Oh.

[ a pause ]

No one's mentioned it that I know of.

Yes, I'm afraid that idea has been set back quite a bit. But there is a welcome center and a community center now, apparently, which there weren't when I left, so at least some progress has been made.

[ Jack immediately perks up! ]

Yes, I'm part of the welcoming committee!

Ah, well - my apologies for not having to be welcomed, I suppose. Is the committee going well?

[ Jack chuckles a little. ]

Pretty sure no one's ever apologized for that before. And I think it's going well! There's a bunch of us, Ms Potts organized it.

I'm sorry, you must have left before I got here. My name's Jack... what's yours?

Tarrlok. It's nice to meet you. [Wow there are so many polite teenagers (or at least, people who appear to be teenagers) here. Such a nice change of pace.]

And here I was beginning to question Keeliai's curious lack of foreign politicians.

[ he says ever so dryly, mostly out of surprise that it's taken him so long to run across a politician when there's thousands back home. the term North Water Tribe draws a complete blank, but he can't help but wonder if it's a very tiny tribe he just happened to miss. ]

Are you familiar with the Iroquois League?

I've noticed that as well. It's unfortunate. [Because he wants other people to talk politics with.]

I'm afraid I've never heard of it.

Is that so? I would see it as a boon of some sorts— fewer politicians means fewer opposing parties to bicker with.

[ and no one really likes politicians am I right... ]

A disappointing answer, but expected. I didn't think I'd find someone from the Americas so easily.

It also means fewer people to discuss ideas with. From my experience, many people here are not eager for more potential leadership when we already have the Empress to deal with. But I don't think staying as we are is the best way to go, either.

[Also Tarrlok is pretty good at shooting down other people's arguments, anyways. Also everyone likes politicians okay.]

There aren't many people here from my world, either.

If those people [ read: foreigners ] accepted the Emperor as legitimate authority. I certainly would not protest to having a foreign voice in the Keeliai's political process.

[ his tones turns amused ]

A terrible blow for a politician, I'm sure.

Neither would I, but there are some who seem to see the possibility as another annoyance. [Of course, those types don't like leadership in general and therefore Tarrlok thinks they're not too bright.]

I wouldn't say terrible - inconvenient, yes, but any decent politician should be able to replicate their previous success.

Yes. It didn't really feel like I was gone at all, honestly. But it's been confirmed that I was.

When you left, you went back to your 'world'?

No. It was more like being asleep, but without dreaming.
