[Toro is a bit haggard from waking up from what he last remembered and finding himself in the grand hall of some other world—really, other dimensions? And here he had thought he’d never see one for himself—but not knowing how he had gotten there. The kedan had explained some to him, but they couldn’t tell him what had happened to Pappy. He sits in the chair in front of the console and works on figuring out how the computer works because it’s not like the ones he knows. Everything is just—too different. But if he’s here, maybe someone else he knows is, too. He's lucky he figured out how to work the radio-computer-camera-thing. Even if it took an hour...or two.]

Guess now I can check “traveling to another dimension” off my list of things to do before I retire. [Have a guy who looks like he’s barely into adulthood—just don’t judge the book by its cover. He runs his hand through his hair, his laugh is a bit awkward, tired.] “Get stuck on another world” wasn’t on there, but you learn to deal with the curveballs.

Torch, if you’re here, too, give me a yell, okay? [He really wants to make sure he’s okay. He doesn’t know what happened to him after they were both sprayed with that chemical. There was a fog, like he was seeing everything in a haze and couldn’t do anything about it. Torch—he doesn’t know what they did to him.]

To everyone else…Name’s Toro—not that probably means much to anybody here if we are all from a bunch of different worlds—and it’s a…really something to be here. I didn’t even know they could get computers this small and still make ‘em do anything worthwhile. Keep expecting to find a room that’s got the real one hidden somewhere and this one is just for show.

[It's about an hour and a half after his transmission; it took Bucky that long to figure out where the hell he was going, and how to get there. He'd only spent a little bit of time checking the console after getting a brief lesson from a kedan, and when he saw Toro post something, well, even if this is a dream or a hallucination, he's got to go meet up with his best pal.

So he figures out where he's living, and he does what any sane person would do. He climbs the hell out of that tree and enters through a window. He doesn't exactly trust fancy video messages right now.]

Figures you'd be the one to show up when I'm in a drugged coma somewhere. Hey, pal.

[Tom's been laying on the bed trying to get used to the fact he's trapped in a place he can't leave--can't even fly away from--and now he's somehow supposed to live in a tree. A big tree...but still a tree.

And then someone was coming in through his window and Toro jerks up, flying over the bed and a hand is already burning bright with a fireball to throw right at--]

...Bucky? [He's staring. Staring hard. His eyes are wide with disbelief because this can't be real. He sounds like Bucky. Not Fred pretending with the skill of a seasoned actor. Not a robot. It's...He'd almost forgotten what Bucky's voice really sounded like.]

Only here for a few hours and already the sick jokes are starting? [He doesn't mean to say it, but he knows it doesn't give anything away. Whoever this jerk is, they won't know about Bucky, but they'll know what happened to "Bucky." That Fred was shot and wouldn't be wearing that uniform.]

[Bucky doesn't realize it. He doesn't know how long he's been gone to Toro, so when he sees him startle and come up with a fireball, he holds both hands out in a 'woah there' gesture, smiling that patented Bucky smile.] Easy there, gonna burn the whole tree down. Man, why'd they stick you in a tree? It's pretty funny though, gotta admit. [He's pacing around, acting like he owns the place, checking the windows and doors, entrances and exits, anywhere someone might be hiding.]

Yeah, well, you know. Figure if I'm layin' up in a VA hospital somewhere with half my face burned off or somethin', there's no sense in whining about it. This is one heckuva dream, y'know? Wait'll I wake up and tell you about you living in a tree.

[Bucky is--moving--checking--doing Bucky things. The fireball in Toro's hand fades and shrinks as he tries to figure out what is even going on. Did he get knocked in the noggin? Is this some twisted hallucination from whatever the hell they sprayed him and Torch with? Are they making him see this? Are they trying to mess with his head?]

...Dream? Hospital? What are you playing at? [He's getting angry, really angry.] Who are you and why are you pretending to be Bucky? If I don't get some answers I'm going to start doing more than burning some firewood.

[He pauses his obsessive securing of the place and holds his arms out, expression hurt and a little angry.] Pretending to be Bucky? C'mon, Hot Pants, this is my damn dream an' you're givin' me the third degree? Did my mug get that ugly when I went down over the Channel or something?

Shut up! If this is someone's dream, it's not yours because Bucky die--didn't go down anywhere! He got shot and everyone knows! [He almost slips. He did. He can't help it. Who is this guy to be saying these things? If he was really here in another world...why would he ask those questions? Why does he sound so much like Bucky? He stalks forward, fist clenched.]

I want some answers or you're going back out the window you came in.

[Victor offers a little smile.] "Get stuck on another world" seems to add itself to everyone's list. It's sneaky like that.

[He thinks for a moment.] By Torch...do you mean the Human Torch? And if so, which one?

Don't be a dummy, Toro, I never got shot. [A pause, and he amends:] I never got shot within the last several months. [When Toro stalks toward him, he doesn't back down, standing a little taller and puffing his chest out just a little. If he wants to tussle, then fine.] You couldn't take me if you wanted to, buddy.

You wanna tell me why you're bein' such a jerk? What'd the brass tell you, anyway? [He lowers his voice a little.] Cap and I went after Zemo on his island in the Channel. He let loose a drone plane rigged up to blow, my sleeve got caught on it and Cap slipped off. That's all I remember.

[Wow, this kid sure does look like maybe he should be living with Namor. Did Fishstick get a new partner and not mention it? He didn't think Atlanteans came in anything except like...blue if you were arrogant princes with bad breath.

And did he just ask--]

Which? There aren't any other Torches. Just The Human Torch. Unless you mean me, but I'm pretty sure I'm not asking for myself. Does Jim Hammond ring any bells around here?

[That kills the flames because Toro is too shocked to move. No one should know that. The only person who had ever found out was from the future. And she's dead so Tom knows it's not Future Man's dame. What is this? He couldn't really be... Could he?]

If you're really who you say you are...tell me our nicknames for each other. The one no one else ever uses. The ones just between us.

[He's frustrated, ready to throw his hands up in the air or punch someone or both. First he's riding a bomb, then he's getting dragged out of some weird grand hall and carted off to a stone house, and now his best friend doesn't even believe he's himself. For all he knows, he could be dead and this is hell or something.]

You want an annotated list of nicknames? Criminey, you make us sound like a couplea secret lovers or somethin', quit giving me this 'secret names just between us' crap.

List? [Maybe that means he's on the right track. They had so many nicknames--most of them Bucky came up with to poke at Toro. But he didn't even mention a single one. That makes him nervous.]

I woke up in a weird world and got shoved into a tree house. You think I'm going to trust you just--just because you look like that you've got another thing come. If you can't even give me one name, how do I know you're not some fake trying to trick me?

[Bucky's dead. Fred was discharged. This can't be either of them and not even friend knew about most of the nickname he and Bucky used. Tom wouldn't tell him. They were between him and the real Bucky, not offense to Davis.]

[ Rikki's lips quirk into a brief smile as the video opens. ] I used to have a friend called Toro. Two, actually...

Sort of.

Anyway, uh... welcome to Keeliai? It's not bad as being trapped in other universes goes.

[Wow, how many kids are stuck here? Did he miss a memo? He gives a kind of awkward smile in return.]

Toro's turning into a popular name or something, then. And uh...thanks. I could have gone for a place that wasn't made out of wood, but so far they haven't tried to dissect me, it could be a lot worse.

[Bucky huffs an annoyed sigh, and starts to count off pointedly on his fingers as he lists them,] There's Mister T and Mister B, I've called you Hot Pants, you've called me Bucks, have I called you Flamebrain yet? I really should, cause you're bein' one.

The heck happened that you think I'd be a fake?

[Funnily enough, Vic did actually live with Namor for awhile. Sort of.]

Jim Hammond does ring a bell. [Victor takes a breath.] He's the original Human Torch and a pretty intimidating guy. [Vic's met him.] Where I come from there's another guy using the codename.

I'm Victor, by the way. Nice to meet you.

[Mister T. Only the original Invaders, Kid Commandos, and Young Allies knew about that name. He stopped using after Bucky died. He couldn't--]

--oh my God, it is you. [It's unbelievable. It took him over a year to accept that Bucky was gone the first time, but now...here he is? Could it really be that easy?]

Bucky, you--you're--[And he might be throwing himself at Bucky to hug him as tightly as he can.]

Another guy? Then...What happened to Pa--Jim? Is he all right? Why would he give that name to anybody else?

[Someone who isn't Toro anyway. How could this guy live in a world where Jim wasn't the Human Torch anymore?] Your world sounds strange enough already.

Who the heck did you think I was- ack! [All of a sudden Toro is on him, hugging him tightly, as if he's been gone for years and not weeks or months, and to be honest, he's a little surprised. He squirms a little, though he's not decking him which probably means he's only pretending to mind.] I'm not gonna be if you keep- Need to breathe, pal, c'mon. I'm what?

[Toro just shakes his head a bit, tightening his hold because he knows he's not holding tight enough to hurt Bucky yet. He's doesn't have Torch's strength.]

You're--here. Yeah I just...never thought I'd see you again. After Pappy and I--never thought I'd see anybody again.

Well, I think we're from the same world. Or at least really similar ones. But I'm from farther into the future...the year 2012. [Which he hopes answers the 'what happened to Jim' question. Even if he did come back from the 'dead'...twice. Comics.]

[Something is wrong. That's all that goes through his head and he feels a little dizzy from it. Something is wrong, besides being here, besides... everything obvious, or he wouldn't be holding on this tightly, he wouldn't seem so surprised.]

Why'd you think that? What's going on? You and Torch okay? Is he here? [But he's stopped putting up a show of trying to push him off.] What'd you mean when you said I got shot and everybody knows?

Two thousand-what? [His mind has been completely blown.] Criminy, that's something. I haven't done the time traveling thing myself, but Jim says it's a trip. I can't even imagine "2012." Do you have flying cars yet? Did the All-Winners ever get back together? I kept telling ol' Fishface we would.

[Damn. Toro doesn't want to say anything. He doesn't want to be the one to have to tell Bucky any of this. If he doesn't know--doesn't remember. Then Toro is not going to be the one to ruin it.]

I...I can't believe you don't remember getting shot. They thought you weren't going to make it. That you wouldn't be able to be Bucky anymore.

[Right words, wrong Bucky. It's not a lie. It's not. He's not lying to his best friend.]

Two thousand twelve. [He gives a little smile.] It is a huge trip from what I'm told. There are flying cars out there for the superhero and super spy types but most people keep the wheels on the ground. I think it's safer that way anyway. [He shrugs a little, rubbing the back of his neck.] I don't know if that ever happened, sorry.

Fishface is Namor, right?
