[ Since Evandau's message said to use the radio for important information, Jack has made a visit to Clark and Lois' suite and asked to use the set. ]

Hi everyone... I'll keep this short, but as Evandau said, he asked me to start taking care of the new arrivals at the Welcome Center for the time being. So showing them to their suite, making sure they know about jobs -- though, uh... I guess that part's a little pointless at the moment -- and helping them with the consoles if they're not familiar.

Remember that new people coming in aren't going to know anything about what's going on and since things are dangerous right now, we'll have to make sure they're safe. So if anyone else wants to help with that, it'd be a pretty good time to take up volunteering. Come by the Center if you're interested please, since I can't answer here like with the consoles.

[ Jack will be at the Welcome Center if anyone wants to drop by. It was spared being targeted by the bombings thankfully and so is completely intact. As he mentioned, he'll be hoping that they get some new faces in, since the Center will now need to be staffed at all hours to take in the new arrivals the Emperor was speaking of. He will also ask a kedan courier to deliver a message to Korra, Julie, Booker and Hawke, asking them to come by since he needs to speak with them regarding the fishing shop. ]

[Darcy was, for the most part, feeling pretty useless about the whole situation. So when she heard about the welcome center and she looked at the small store of food she had stockpiled in her suite, she had an idea. She made her way to the welcome center. She'd never stopped before but she'd heard about it from various people and figure out the way easily enough.

She spotted Jack, though she wasn't sure if he was the one who had made the radio announcement or not since they hadn't met before. She waved, friendly as she could manage.]

Hey. Do you work here?

[ Jack looked up from where he'd been jotting down notes of everything he was thinking they'd need, given the new responsibility put on the Center. He gave Darcy a smile, recognizing her as a fellow Foreigner though he wasn't sure they'd spoken directly. ]

Sure do.

Great. My name's Darcy. [She shoots out her hand for a greeting, and smiles.] I have something I'd like to discuss. See if I can help out a little bit.

[ He offers her an easy grin, grasping her hand with a firm, yet icy cold grip. ]

I'm Jack. It's nice to meet you, Darcy. We can use all the help we can get here, what'd you have in mind?

[She's surprised at how cold his hand is, but she's too focused right now to make a big deal out of it. Maybe later if it comes up again.]

So when I heard all the talk about war here I started stocking up food. The non-perishable kind, anyway. I don't have a huge amount, but I've got enough to share for a little while. I know the food supplies got hit pretty badly, so I was thinking of rationing off what I have to anyone who wants it.

And maybe we could ask around to see if anybody else is willing to share what they've saved up. Make what we have last a little long and go a bit further.

[ The spirit smiles at her, because it's a very nice thing to offer and one that spoke a lot about a person. ]

If you want to bring it by, I know it'll get well used but I don't want you to be left with nothing.

I already put enough aside for me for a while. Like I said, it's not much, but it's something.

[ Jack nods; he understands that it's important for people to contribute where they can. ]

That sounds good, Darcy. Do you want some help bringing it over?

Yeah. That would be great, actually. Do you have any carts or something like that?

[ Jack brightens at the suggestion. ]

We do! One of the shopkeepers donated it. It's actually kind of like a rickshaw, but I've used it to carry deliveries before, when they were too heavy to fly with.

That should work great then. I'm over in the Wood Sector. Did you want to go now or stop over later?

I can come over now, no problem. I'll get the cart and meet you out front?

Sounds like a plan.

[She gives him a mock salute before turning around the move towards the front.]

[ Jack will go and retrieve the rickshaw and rolls it around front like he promised, giving her a mischievous grin. ]

You want a ride?

[She grins right back at him, more than willing to play along.]

Well, if you're offering...

Hop on!

[ Jack is stronger than his skinner form suggests, so once she's settled he doesn't have any trouble getting the cart rolling and once it's going, like any moving object, it's easy to keep that way. ]

[Darcy let's out a laugh as they begin rolling along. She hadn't been completely sure how genuine his offer was, but now that she was there, she was going to enjoy the ride.]

So how much do you charge for these rides?

For you, a special rate of two smiles and one laugh! And I absolutely am open to bargaining.

Hmmm. That's quite the price. How about two smiles, a chuckle, and a wink?

And here I thought real bargaining went out a century ago! You've got a deal, Miss Darcy.

Bargaining becomes your best friend when you travel around as much as I did back home.
