[ The video feed opens with not one Bakura but two, the first standing central to the screen and the other offset to the side and whose nervous posture indicates he's still trying to slide even farther away. Separately it would be easy to call them identical but side by side, there are differences; slight but present. The voice is the biggest giveaway though, as Bakura's bears almost nothing of Ryou's accent. ]

Pay attention:

There are, as you can see, actually two of us. I'm the one who thinks you're all expendable idiots and treats you accordingly, not him. So taking your anger at me out on the new arrival here without listening to him merely proves my point.

For those of you whom I so easily fooled by calling myself "Ryou"? This is the real one, so go... make friends or something.

I need him to stay alive here and to return in one piece. If he doesn't, I don't know what happens to the Ring in my world, and without it... well, I'm not looking forward to spending another three thousand years in a void.

[There's a short pause, because Costigan respects what he got. Then he nods, though the guy can't see it.]

I'll keep an eye on him.

As you want; presumably the less I associate with him here, the better off he will be. Though I suppose this is better than having him regressing to when he insisted I was a hallucination.

[Another pause. The undercover's voice is lower but softer.]

[ He doesn't know; neither seems to fit. Costigan hasn't known Ryou long enough to be genuinely worried about the teen being here (physically perhaps; not mentally) but concern for Bakura himself seems grossly misplaced. He says nothing. ]

[There's a considerable silence on Costigan's end as well as he thinks about what to say, about how he could open up and apologize or try to make things right. In the end, pride and paranoia win out.]
