[ be thankful there isn't actual Merb cabbage here, Anton, that stuff would break even your stoicism ]
Mostly I just have it steamed.
[ Anton may or may not have noticed, but Stork rarely partakes of the pre-made meals available to the Hotel patrons. He does, however, eat an awful lot of fresh produce. ]
[He hasn't noticed in so many words, but he does keep an eye on where the food goes, just in case someone is hoarding for themselves. And it does occur to him that he doesn't actually know if Stork's tastes are different, him being non-human.]
A good solid meal. I don't believe I ever asked what sort of food your people prefer. Are cabbages the staple?
Merb cabbage is pretty widely used on Merbia. It grows wild, and nothing else on the terra eats it, so it's never hard to find. But it's hard to get anywhere else it Atmos, because no one imports the stuff-- other races don't like it, not even Wallops.
[ Or, you know, are physically incapable of stomaching the stuff. Stork kind of dances around the question regarding the actual food preferences, though. Preferences indicate being the subject of attention, and that pings a merb's self-preservation sense. ]
Because other races can't digest it, or because they simply don't find it palatable?
[Anton mulls that over. That would make sense, if there's a great diversity of races on Atmos, and humans haven't hunted most of the rest to extinction like in Anton's own world.]
Are there any kinds of foods I should be making more easily available to you in the Hotel kitchen, Master Stork?
[ An instinctive sort of side-twitch, being singled out. ]
Uh, w-well... most fresh stuff is good. We don't always have a lot, when money is tight on the Condor.
[ Which happened a lot; they weren't exactly gainfully employed, and most of their funds went to the carrier's upkeep. ]
I can't eat most processed food.
[ Thankfully, he'd gotten to the point where he COULD have the occasional meal of pizza or sky wieners like the rest of his team. And honestly, the first few months after forming their squad had been trial and error as to where everyone's menu preferences worked. ]
[There is a wealth of understanding there. Processed food was a thing most sorcerers had submitted to out of necessity, not out of taste. Anton preferred fresh, himself, and had the means to stick to it more than most without actively living on a farm. He was a purist that way.]
I try to use as much fresh produce as possible, but in future I will label any dishes which contain anything processed.
[ Stork had definitely been appreciating that there was readily available produce in Keeliai on a scale that was unheard of in Atmos, but the offer is genuinely appreciated. He's had a couple meals here that hadn't sat well with him, not to the point of becoming ill or anything, just enough that he knew to avoid them, but this would make it 10x easier. ]
[He winds up bringing back half-a-dozen cabbages, because that's all he could find going just slightly off, but he's made a note to get more cabbages in his usual shopping runs.]

Oh, um. Thanks. That'd be good.

[ If the cabbages were too fresh, he'd just leave them on his windowsill for a few extra days. ]
