I would be more concerned with the health issues of swallowing a gem than the metaphysical issues. As long as it's still in your possession, you shouldn't sicken, but rock and metal were not meant to be internalized.

[Aionis aside. Raine also seems to have ignored the 'hypothetically' part of Kitty's question, as she is, in fact, familiar with teenagers.]

[When Raine arrives, she orients on Kitty immediately and crosses to her, brisk. Raine has two different vials in one hand, a staff in the other, and a determined look in her eye.]

[Pepper vaulted from the house once she got off the console with Kitty, and she arrives just as Raine is starting to shepherd her into the bathroom.]

[Kitty coughs, waving at Pepper as she's shepherded around by Raine.]

[Raine waves an absent greeting to Pepper, and continues to shepherd Kitty toward the bathroom, assuming Pepper will either help or stay out of the way. Pepper is sensible like that.]

This one has an olfactory trigger; I'd prefer not to make you swallow something else unless absolutely necessary.

[She tucks one of the vials into her pocket, has the other ready to wave under Kitty's nose as soon as they're to a toilet.]

[Pepper doesn't plan on being in the way, especially now. That would probably end unpleasantly. She follows the healer and her 'patient' to the bathroom, silently breathing through her mouth, even though the vial Raine is holding almost certainly won't affect her.]

I'll just, you know, be over here. Til you need me.

[She was serious when she said she'd hold Kitty's hair, if that becomes necessary.]

Cheers, thanks a lot, [she says to Pepper as they approach the bathroom. Once they reach it, she grimaces, getting to her knees in front of a toilet.]

Nice t' meet you, by the way, [she says to Raine.]

[Raine kneels by Kitty, pops the stopper off the one vial, and puts it where Kitty can get a good whiff. She's prepared for the likely consequences.]

Well, at least it's memorable, [Pepper says, shrugging. She stands on the opposite side of Kitty from Raine, trying not to make faces.]

Ha ha, [is all Kitty has time to say before she gets a whiff of it, and--

Well, it sure has the intended effect.]

Oh, good lord, [she chokes when she gets her breath back.] I think I just puked up a lung.

[Raine's just thankful they don't have to resort to more stringent measures. With a wrinkled nose but little other sign of disgust, she snags Kitty's soul gem and stands, leaving Pepper to comfort and reassure Kitty as she cleans the soul gem and ensures there's no damage.]

[...She's going to have to heal Kitty as well, judging by the size of the gem. In a few minutes a healing glow will settle over Kitty, paired with Raine's murmur of first aid, and shortly after that Kitty will be offered her soul gem back, good as new.]

[Pepper looks away until Kitty starts speaking again and immediately kneels next to her. She grabs some tissues and offers them to the other girl, placing a gentle if slightly awkward hand on Kitty's back.]
