I am interested in power.

Training for the duration of time I have, both individually and with a mentor--[yes, she considers Kylo a 'mentor']--has allowed me to achieved a greater understanding of the concept.  However, with that understanding has come...curiosity, if you will.

Many of those designated as Foreigners have shown signs of possessing unique abilities from a seemingly infinite number of sources.  Some of these abilities are innate, while others appear to be borrowed through external means.  I am curious about these abilities and their origins, if you are willing to oblige me with this information.

[Though her voice and tone appeared neutral throughout, it was clear from the look in her eyes that Aya was more than simply curious.  She was looking for...something.  Something which she would not explicitly say aloud.]

I can elucidate some of my own, if you like. The power itself is in everything, but the ability to use it is mostly genetic.

[She wants to keep an eye on this.]

Does that mean you possess the ability to utilize certain external power sources rather than produce such power on your own?

Some of my own is required, and like every other being I have mana within me, but for the most part I gather and shape what's around me.

How are you able to detect and harness the power? Or do you find its presence consistent, regardless of location?

It's an additional sense. Humans don't possess it.

[Raine hums thoughtfully, tilts her head in a sort-of gesture.]

Mana is always there, but in differing amounts and concentrations.

Do you know if it is possible to detect this...mana of yours scientifically?

[Because the answer to everything is always SCIENCE]

It may be, yes. In our world, there were ways to blend mana with technology. Known as magitechnology, it took specialized components but was more than possible.

[She'll deal with the environmental impact later.]

Would you be interested in aiding me on a series of experiments on the subject?

[Asked in such a way that Aya would be pleased if she said yes, but not overly disappointed if she said no.]

[Raine nods.]

If you are to experiment, I would like to help.

[And, not coincidentally, supervise.]

[Hey, as long as she doesn't mess with the irrelevant equipment at the lab, she can supervise all she wants.]

[Just to make sure. Raine can take it from there, but there are several facilities in the city which may have labs.]

[It was then Aya realized her error, eyes widening as she lightly shook her head.]

Forgive me. I was under the false assumption that it was common knowledge.

While I do often visit the college, my primary residency and place of work is at Stark Industries, as it has been for some time now.

[Ah. Raine updates her mental map.]
