I am interested in power.

Training for the duration of time I have, both individually and with a mentor--[yes, she considers Kylo a 'mentor']--has allowed me to achieved a greater understanding of the concept.  However, with that understanding has come...curiosity, if you will.

Many of those designated as Foreigners have shown signs of possessing unique abilities from a seemingly infinite number of sources.  Some of these abilities are innate, while others appear to be borrowed through external means.  I am curious about these abilities and their origins, if you are willing to oblige me with this information.

[Though her voice and tone appeared neutral throughout, it was clear from the look in her eyes that Aya was more than simply curious.  She was looking for...something.  Something which she would not explicitly say aloud.]

Power and abilities are not necessarily the same. Many can possess the same abilities, but not the same power.

You are correct. There is a distinct difference between the two, and it was incorrect of me to use such terms interchangeably.

That being said, they are not necessarily exclusive. In this instance, I am referring to the power that allows one to possess abilities beyond the average carbon-based life form. However, the abilities themselves are also of great interest to me. Any information one is willing to volunteer, I would gladly listen to.

[Ironically, it was Hal Jordan who first came to mind. But only once she subtracted the known abilities of his Green Lantern Ring.]

A precise definition would be difficult to compile in such a short span of time...so to abridge this conversation, I would indicate it to be an individual who possess vision equitable to separating contours approximately 1.7 millimeters apart...who can hear within a range of 20 to 20,000 hertz...strength is far more subjective, but would perhaps fall within a range of 45 to 90 kilograms in a single press...and does not possess the ability to manipulate an external forces without external catalysts.

Kylo Ren. In addition to treating me as if I were any carbon-based life form, he has been of great assistance to me in understanding the abilities I currently possess but have yet to gain absolute control over.

It's an idiom.

It means that looking too deeply into something will get you or others harmed. And people getting too interested in power, in my experience, definitely falls under that umbrella.

In my universe of origin, it is those who are strongest who not only survive in battle, but are subsequently capable of using that power to assist others. That is the opposite of being killed.

Too often people think they're using it for the right reasons, and innocent people get hurt or killed because of it.

I can elucidate some of my own, if you like. The power itself is in everything, but the ability to use it is mostly genetic.

Some of my own is required, and like every other being I have mana within me, but for the most part I gather and shape what's around me.

It's an additional sense. Humans don't possess it.

Mana is always there, but in differing amounts and concentrations.
