[ VIDEO ]
[ Mandorallen has opted for video for his first post, because while he’s figured out how to use the keyboard, the notion of using it still mystifies him somehow. ]
Greetings, fair people. I thought perhaps I could trouble thee with a question of mine own, as it hath scarcely been a full day since I found myself on this strange isle. I was garbed in mail on mine arrival, and, as I had feared, my time in the water hath set it to rusting. Doth any man know of a sturdy armorer or blacksmith who might thusly be capable of mending it? The damage doth run deep, I fear, and I must confess that I feel naked striking out without its cool weight upon my breast.
[ He smiles, a bit vacantly, into the video feed -- its' definitely a foreign concept to be speaking to...well, no one at all, and yet still have an audience -- and after a moment’s hesitation, bows his head. ]
If any soul could offer assistance in this matter, I thank thee kindly.

[Just. Staring because omg what is Shakespeare doing here?]
Sorry, buddy, I haven't seen any blacksmiths around.
video;
Neither have I, most unfortunately. I shall have to continue my search.
[ dense as he is sometimes, though, Mandorallen notes Rin's reaction to his video post ]
Have I made some offense with my message? I must be frank and admit, though it pains my pride, that this queer device is quite alien to me.
video;
Uh, no, it was just. Nothing, heh, never mind.

You'd be best off trying the Metal Sector for a blacksmith, they should have someone familiar enough with mail.
video;
Ah, many thanks, my lady! It seemed as though no one might possess such an answer for me, but thou hast been most helpful.
video;
Glad I could help. I don't think many of us have really had a reason to search out a blacksmith, which is probably why no one can be much help.
I'm Stephanie, by the way. It's nice to meet you.

[ Not bothered by the strange speech. There are all kinds in Fa'Diel after all, and Imu spent a decent amount of time with a singing centaur... ]
video;
[ Mandorallen looks doubtful. ]
Forgive my saying so, but thou lookest not much like a blacksmith at all.

I must profess that I possess no knowledge to these "Asgardians". I myself am of the fair kingdom of Arendia, and such speech is common among my people -- dost thou truly find it so strange?

[ ACTUALLY NO, he probably is, but man, what an unlucky SOB if he's from like a gazillion years ago. York shakes his head even if it's not visible. ]
Haven't seen a -- [ holy shit ahah is he really saying this ] blacksmith, but if I do happen t'see one, I'll let you know.
video;
Ah, I thank thee greatly, kind sir. I only hope that the mail is still within the realm of repair -- it would, I think, be far more costly to replace it forthwith, and I would feel ill at ease without it.

Merle has been paying attention to the posts on the console in between running around and ... well... being a kid. The fact that this man speaks the way he does is the first thing to catch her attention. The fact that he looks rather like Gaddus, one of Allen's men, is certainly another.
The fact that he adds icing to the cake by asking about blacksmiths drags her right on into the mix.
So have a cat-girl, Mandorallen. Her ears prick forward eagerly and intently as she responds in echo to a few others.]
I think the metal sector would be best, Sir... [In fact, he seems to be one of the few she is going to address politely from the beginning.]
The wealthiest areas are the Metal and Fire, but I would think that metal would be best simply because your chain mail is metal... I... I could show you?
[Those wide blue eyes are young, but intent as she studies him across the console screen. She's been raised around knights and kings for the entirety of her life and this is like a tiny piece of home, even if she is from an altogether different world than he.]
video;
He doesn't quite jump, but his eyes do go rather wide, and he peers at the screen, trying to deduce if what he is seeing is accurate and actually real. And of course it talks, and Mandorallen's expression is one of pure befuddlement. ]
I pray that thou wilt forgive mine asking, but thine appearance confounds me greatly and I see no recourse -- of what race art thou? I must profess, I have never met a beast that could intimate human speech with such skill.
video;
video;
I am afraid that I do not. Who is this Thor? Hath he spread unkind words about my person?
video;
video;
video;
Say again? Like, in plain English this time?
video;
Doth my speech confuse thee? I will admit, it is perhaps archaic even by the standards of my world, but it is the speech of my people. To speak otherwise would be most disingenuous, and would feel as strange and wrong to me as impersonating another man entirely. I have no taste nor wit for deceit, unlike some of my companions.

Have you had a chance to look around your sector much? There's sure to be one somewhere. The Fire or Metal sectors would be where I'd look first.
