Sooo I am guessing that popping up in this place is the norm here, right? So are the freebies, which are really nice of these guys to offer. I'm guessing that this isn't earth though, so I can't exactly IM a location.

But wow, this place is a lot different from where I've been. I even saw a feathered cow on the way. [Wait, hold on, getting derailed.] I-- oookay, I had a reason to chat on this thing. And maybe a history lesson, since I think I got the basics down, but I'm most likely missing a ton of things I need to know.

[He's actually been here longer than that, but he staggered his appearances as Batman and as Bruce Wayne to allay suspicion.]

[... Well, if that wasn't a familiar name, she doesn't know what is.] Bruce Wayne of Gotham? [She doesn't know the ID, but she's been to Gotham. Everyone knows Wayne.] Wow, that was unexpected.

[He smiles. Bruce pretends authenticity of emotion with extreme prejudice.]

What's unexpected is that you've actually heard my name. It's alarmingly rare in these parts.

Not so alarming if we're from the same plane of existence. [... Actually, it would be too since multiverse. Ugh.] Though I'm definitely surprised to see you here.

Oh, I don't know about that. This place is practically a day spa, you're telling me you find it odd to run into a billionaire here?

That's the first time I heard someone describe it that way. A billionaire supposedly stuck in the middle of life and death, you mean?

[He laughs.]

You honestly believe that nonsense?

Why not? Spirits and purgatory exist, and there's magic even all the way back home. a limbo doesn't sound too far-fetched.

That said, I've no idea if I believe it when I've just gotten here.

And I thought 'superheroes' were an odd enough concept to wrap one's brain around.

[Yeah, that's... weird. She did hear rumours of him, but honestly she had no interest in powerful people so she probably shouldn't be surprised they have no interest in super heroes either.]

Not a fan of the capes, Mr. Wayne? I figured most people would've gotten used to it by now.

Do you have any idea how much property damage they cause in a given year?

A lot more than necessary? [She's pretty sure she has questioned where the government gets the money to pay for said damage.]

And when you own a good percentage of the city, your insurance premiums are positively brutal.

[He shakes his head ruefully.]

I wouldn't trade Gotham for the world, but it does get tiring.

Guess I can't argue with that. [Not like... she knew anything about the Suite Life of Bruce Wayne's lifestyle to imagine the costs, but she can say it sounds pretty brutal.]

I don't hear that often enough. [Or at all.] How long have you been stuck here for?

Oh, you know. A few months now. Six? Seven?

[Ten months and fifteen days, to be precise. Not that he'd ever be precise, given how he staggered the entrances of Batman and Bruce Wayne respectively.]

You don't sound too worried about being separated from your beloved Gotham for so long.

Or I'm choosing not to discuss it with a stranger.

[He sounds pleasant, but there's a hint of ice behind his tone.]

I have spent much of my life outside of Gotham, you know. Admittedly, never anywhere quite like this.

[She raises an eyebrow at that, but doesn't push. Interesting reaction. Well, the last thing she wants right now is to cause trouble while she's here, so she'll keep that in mind for something to ask about next time.]

If you say so, Mr. Wayne.

[He doesn't reply right away. He's slipping farther, faster than he expected. That was a loss of control he can't afford. So when he turns the video feed back on he's back to his neutral congeniality.]
