[Jim's sitting in his suite, wearing his command golds, looking serious as a heart attack. He's leaning forward, one hand braced against the armrest of his chair, the other fiddling with something on the console. Satisfied, he leans back more fully and nods once to the camera.]

Okay, let's get the introductions out of the way first. Name's Jim, Jim Kirk. Captain of the USS Enterprise. I serve in Starfleet in the year 2259 - Starfleet being a space-based armada focused on peaceful exploration and the discovery of new forms of life in the universe.

[There's a slight quirk to his brow, he coughs and then continues with all due charisma,]

I know there's people out there that've been here longer than I have, so I'm asking for your help - and the assistance of anyone willing. We know we're here to fight something, some of you know what and why. While I can understand the reasoning behind keeping that information to allies, I'd like to stress the fact that we're all in this together, regardless of worlds, races or creeds. This isn't something we can or should fight blind. So I'm proposing a broader alliance, a centralized repository of information, and the consideration of a unified front to face whatever's coming.

Additionally, I'm interested in the martial capabilities of the landed foreigners, any contingency plans that have been put in place to deal with the situations we're potentially facing here, and the sorts of scenarios that've been dealt with in the past.

[He exhales a little more sharply than necessary, and then he gives the camera a brief, two-fingered salute.]

Kirk out.

[and edited in after the fact, private to Kyle Rayner.]

We should talk.

[ The video turns on to a view of a man’s face, and those observant enough to notice nitpicky details might realize that this is a man who’s familiar with and comfortable using strange bits of technology. There’s no fear in his eyes, no outward confusion or panic. He looks calm and in control, and when he speaks, he sounds like it, too. ]

Hello. My name’s Steve Rogers and I just recently arrived from a city called New York. I was debriefed about the situation and I wanted to offer my help to anyone who needs it.

[ He pauses for a moment as he collects his thoughts. These days, it’s not often that he goes somewhere that people aren’t at least slightly familiar with who he is. Providing a brief resume is a somewhat novel experience. ]

I’ve been a soldier for a long time, but I’m also good with my hands. Construction, farming, hunting, good old-fashioned heavy lifting, I can help with that. I can speak a number of languages, too, if anyone needs translations done. I know I’m new, but I want to pull my weight. So if you know anyone who might need a hand with something, let me know.

[ Offering a faint smile, he gives the camera a short nod. ]

Thanks for your time.

[So here's a guy smiling more than he should be. He looks downright cheerful about the whole alternate world between life and death bit, but looking cheerful is easier than people say it is. His expression is giving off the best "let's be friends" message that he's got.]

I think I hit my head. Which is kind of bad, because I can't afford to have hit my head right now. I was working on things.

Hey, anybody want to play a game? It's called "the last thing I remember". Anyone? I'll go first.

I was just about to finish a late night coffee and watching a fuzzy video with a fuzzy memory that probably means things are not going to end well very soon. The thing about that? If things were going to go bad this soon I would know about it. So that means I didn't just have an aneurysm that dropped my, uh, soul into this period fantasy. Is there a door? There has to be a door. Or maybe not. I admit soul transference isn't really my area.

[He pauses to let all of that settle before he seems to come to a conclusion.]

Not going to be a journey I go on again in a hurry.

[Wanda learned years ago how to hide her true feelings behind a calm, almost bored expression. She knew how to control her body language to seem relaxed when she wasn't, and how to rely on subtle nuances of tone to get her point across. So it's not difficult to hide the anxiousness and tension she feels in her Water sector suite. She's separated from her brother, really separated, for the first time in her life, and also from the team she's come to trust and rely on. In some ways, she even considered them her friends.

Lips pursed, she flips on the console in her suite and leans back in her chair, by all appearances entirely unruffled by her current circumstances. Dressed in her Ultimates uniform, she crosses one leg over the other and periodically takes sips from the glass of water in her hand.

Those familiar with her alternate universe counterpart might notice a striking resemblance to the Scarlet Witch they know. Though she's at least ten years younger, her hair darker and straighter, and her uniform entirely different, her face and bearing are remarkably similar.]

As it seems highly unlikely that our hosts have provided full and completely honest details about our situation here, I'd appreciate any insight you all may have, or information they may have neglected to to give me during their orientation.

[After a brief pause she continues, though the words are completely foreign to Wanda.]

It also appears to be required that I find work as well. Unless anyone's spoken to a man by the name of Fury recently, recommendations as to where I might begin looking would also be welcome.

[She ends the transmission without offering her name or listing any of her affiliations save that of Nick Fury. Those who know her will contact her, she's certain, and perhaps those familiar with Fury will as well. Anyone else she has no intention of enlightening any more than is absolutely necessary. Not until she gets a better impression of the climate of the city and the other foreigners living in it.]

[Well, this time around at least the technology was familiar. Time had been spent adjusting to the idea that he had been drawn back to this world after what seemed like having just left, though from what he'd learned from the kedan it had been quite a few months since he'd last been aboard the turtle's back.

He had found it easier to speak with the kedan this time, discussing the various events, such as the turtle's dive and the unruly actions of some of the residents that had resulted in punishments and imprisonment. Charles hinted at the palace, trying to discover if there had been any headway made with the Emperor and also seeing if he could get any sense of whether or not the book he'd found had been taken back to the palace.

From what he could gather, it did not sound as if there had been any sort of scandal surrounding the discovery of palace property in a visitor owned business, so Charles had hope. Hope that he needed to put into action, to see if he could secure that book before either it fell into the wrong hands or he was shut off from it.

Triggering on the device, he gave the camera a warm smile before reaching up to sheepishly rub at the nape of his neck.]

Good afternoon,

I suspect my face will be familiar to some of you as this is, quite interestingly, not my first trip to Tu Vishan. To those I have not had the pleasure of meeting before, my name is Professor Charles Xavier and I was a citizen of the city for a few months back ... well back a few months ago. I had left but it appears that perhaps my time here was not complete, as I find myself returned.

[And given what the natives told new arrivals about the city and the turtle, about the nature of dreams and the place between life and death, Charles was more than a little curious about being brought back. However, that curiosity was going to have to wait for now.]

Mr. Wayne? I was wondering if you were still about and if so, this is quite forward of me I suppose but if so, could I petition to have my job back? If you haven't had cause to change the layout of my original lab and office, they would be perfectly acceptable accommodation as would my original salary.

[The last was tacked on in a bit of a rush, not anything too untoward, unless you knew Charles well, in which case it might have sounded a bit ... odd.]

[. . . Kind of. There’s also something a little off about that glare. It doesn’t quite seem to focus like a glare should.]

Okay, so whose bright idea was it to put dirt on some of the turtle shell, but not all of it? If you’re going to put dirt on a turtle in the first place, you should at least not be stupid about it and finish it off.

Also, what kind of turtle are we talking about here? Is this a turtle-duck, or a lion-turtle, or what? I tried to ask one of those kedan guys, but they wouldn’t tell me.

[A small smirk, highly self-satisfied.]

Guess they were still sore.

[She shrugs.] Anyway, name’s Toph for anyone who cares. You’ll learn it soon enough.

Which, weird – seriously, who expects the afterlife to be so high tech? Also, sorry about the possession thing, that must've sucked. But I have something a little more important to ask about right now.

[She leans back and gestures at herself. She’s wearing a green dress that, while it looks good on her, isn’t exactly appropriate for every day wear] Does anyone have clothes I could borrow? Pants, especially pants. You have no idea how long it’s been since I even saw a pair of jeans.

Other than that, does anyone know if there’s a dance club around here or something? I had a look around myself, but maybe someone who’s been here longer can help. There’s gotta be some place teenagers can go to let loose, right? [She winks, and reaches forward to turn off the camera when something else appears to occur to her]

Oh yeah! I’m A – Catty, I’m Catty. [She holds her hand up in a Vulcan salute] Greetings to my fellow inter-dimensional travellers. Especially those of you with pants.

Ah, here it goes! Thank goodness for computer skills or else I’d have had a hell of a time even getting this thing on, let alone connected to the internet. ...Assuming we're using some kind of internet. [She pauses and tucks some of her hair behind her ear]

Right so, waking up in a palace, bit of an usual form of kidnapping if you ask me. Not that I'm complaining. Take that over an alien dungeon any day. Still, not where I expected to end up.

Anyway, introduction and information seeking time; my name’s Clara Oswald and I’m in search of a job. Back home I was a nanny, not sure if they’re in high demand here, but if anyone has a precocious kid or two who needs some extra supervision, I’m your girl. Other than that… got a Literature degree but… that’s probably as useful here as it is back home. [Not very, says her tone.] Oh! And soufflés! I can bake soufflés... or more honestly sometimes I can bake soufflés. It’s a skill in progress. Still, could lend a hand or two at a bakeshop, I’m not entire hopeless.

[Then there’s a pause and she bites her lip as though considering if she really wants to ask the next question. Oh to hell with it, she’ll ask.]

And has anyone seen a bloke who calls himself the Doctor? Floppy hair, purple tweed jacket, bowtie and a ridiculously big chin? It’s maybe unlikely, but with his knack for finding both me and trouble, I figured it's worth at least a try. [And though she tries to keep her face calm and her demeanor cool, there's definitely a trace of concern and urgency in her voice.]

it's taken her a while before she decided to actually sit down and use the computer in her suite, because it feels so- dumb. she never used social media at home, and she's glad for it, because none of it mattered once the virus took over. more to the point, where are all the zombies in this place? crowds of people ( or whatever those mutated human-ish people were ) and none of them were carrying guns or looking to make a meal out of her. which, for some reason, makes her feel more nervous than when she and Little Rock had to search the supermarket for food. it made no sense. none of this makes sense.

so when she turns on her broadcast, she looks a little peeved, dark bangs covering dark eyes, her mouth pressed into a line.

Ahem. Hello. My name's Korra, I just got here. I'm the Avatar, but I'm not too sure that means anything here. [She looks both angry and confused, immediately wondering why she just thought of that now instead before.] But anyway, the kedan informed me that I should probably get a job. [Of course it probably sounded a lot nicer when they said it.]

So if anyone knows of a good place to work at, I'd appreciate the help. [She leans forward and puts her forehead in her hand, admonishing herself for not bringing up what she would able to do for work.] Um, I'm a bender, I can create fire and move water or earth around or into just about any shape or form you need? [Ice sculpting crossed her mind. She'd never given any thought to it. Then again she was never too artistic to begin with.] I don't know if fire matters? Burning things doesn't sound a like it'd be in big demand...

Also I'm a former pro athlete! If there's any kinds of sports going on I'd like to get into that! [A smile spreads across her face.] Doesn't even have to be a job, just for fun.

I'm in the Metal Sector if that helps. If anybody's from there we can meet up and you could fill me in a little more about this place? Looks pretty cool to be honest. There's a smear of black ink in the corner, because they said you could make words with it but why aren't the words coming out of the ink. This is stupid, and the expression on the dog's face accentuates that. It is in fact very expressive for... well, a dog. It actually scrunches up its face in annoyance.

In comes a round of plain barking at the thing, but obviously it doesn't work.

Possibly defeated by the really awkward technology, the dog sits back (are those flowers growing around its paws or are you just going crazy?) for a while, staring at its console, before getting up and disappearing off camera.

So it's time to just roll with the punches and take things one hour at a time, to meet new people and maybe get in a few laughs.

Currently, she's writing down a list of things that she eventually turns and holds out to be seen. There's only a few words written down, and one is lightly crossed out

Anyway, alternate universe craziness aside, my name's Carol. Nice to meet you guys. Under the circumstances and all. I'm sure you hear stuff like this a lot but let's just get this out of the way first: What's the progress on not being here anymore?

And while I'm asking things, how many people here are from Earth? Better yet, who here has heard of the Avengers, the X Men or Captain America? Or who knows anything about superheroes at all, even if it's not any of the things I just mentioned? Let's just say I want to know for my own reference.

[She'd also like to see just how many people ended up here from her world. Or a world similar to hers. Having more superheroes around never hurt. She pauses and glances off to the side, looking at something intensely for a minute as if considering something very important before turning back to the console]

Unrelated but can the fires around here actually burn things? Just, you know, curious.
