Sooo I am guessing that popping up in this place is the norm here, right? So are the freebies, which are really nice of these guys to offer. I'm guessing that this isn't earth though, so I can't exactly IM a location.

Not that I have my phone with me. [Oh boy. Hopefully dad won't freak... or the guys... or--- yeah okay, hopefully no one notices. On the plus side, not the Reach. On the down side, not Earth either.]

But wow, this place is a lot different from where I've been. I even saw a feathered cow on the way. [Wait, hold on, getting derailed.] I-- oookay, I had a reason to chat on this thing. So hi again, nice to meet you all. Any chance a lovely person out there would be willing to give me a second tour of the place? And maybe a history lesson, since I think I got the basics down, but I'm most likely missing a ton of things I need to know.

Well... that's been quite a while. Guessing they weren't kidding about the whole we can't leave so easily thing then.

So-- what exactly do you do around here?

No. They were not 'kidding.'

As to the other... maybe we have not left at all, or something to that effect. Nobody remembers - or has been changed by - having been here, anyway. Not when they are 'home.'

... Huh. So some sort of stasis? This sounds like something a lot more in the realms of time travelers to me. [Or reaaaaally powerful magic, beyond what she can imagine.

I was exclusively home-schooled. But I did excel at everything, I can assure you.

Stasis would not explain how nobody else is missing people. Some that I know have been here for over a year, but that absence has not been noted at home. So maybe time traveling. Or some other explanation.

If this place isn't moving along the same timestream as the world they're going in, they might be missing for years and it'll be like what? Five seconds back home. You can also technically freeze time long enough if you're that good, but that's unlikely in this place.

Virtual reality achieved by technology, magical pseudo-reality, and, the current theory here goes, cloning.

The turtle wouldn't. He would rather we were all safely home.

The Emperor, however, has different ideas.

And these ideas involve cloning us, possibly from different universes with different memories with different physiology that may or may not have been altered just to fit this universe why?

The current theory as clones is because there was a cloning facility discovered and watched destroyed, a while back. Why would the Emperor decide on this...

She probably could answer, if you would ask her in a way that she deems acceptable. But she claims she has brought us here to protect this world from a Threat. And she needed heroes for that.

Some of us were brought in by mistake, of course.

How exactly do you define 'acceptable' in her terms. I don't suppose it's just a matter of how polite you can be, is it?

Supposedly, saying the name of it will endanger everybody within Tu Vishan's protection, and, supposedly, it is simply a matter of not enough known.

... Seriously? That sounds a little too much like one of those fantasy books to me. [Though she won't argue it past that.] Guess that's going to be a mystery for a while. [Mysteries, unfortunately, are things Traci enjoys trying to uncover.]

It can be spoken within the protection of the Emperor's palace, supposedly. Not everybody here likes that place very much.
