_{( Actually, it's "fear Greeks bearing gifts." But given Jason's recent experiences, saying so seems disingenuous. Speaking of which, here's Jason: sitting at a console somewhere in the city, elbows up on the table and fingers steepled together. He's regarding the console carefully through bright blue eyes, skeptical but determined. )}

But it would be pretty dumb to say no to having a place to sleep, since I don't know how long I'm going to be here. I've taken a look around, and this place is really... something. I barely know where to start.

_{( His face scrunches, like he's considering something. Then he lets out a breath, offering the console a half-smile. )}

Hi, I'm Jason. It seems like there's a lot going on here, and I'd like to do what I can to help. So whatever's going on--I heard something about rationing? And someone mentioned other problems--please, let me know.

_{( He nods, with some sort of finality. He's about to end the feed, but thinks better of it, blurting out as an addendum: )}

_{( Looking slightly sheepish, he ends the communication there. )}

How nice a gift the suites are depends on where it is. Some sectors are a little... worse, than others. Wood's okay, for the record. [She can tell from the background where he is ok.] Rationing is definitely a thing, though. And there's a lot of problems I could go into.

[Awkward pause.] Hi, Jason.

[Percy spent most of his shock on Nico earlier, but there's still a faintly puzzled edge to his expression] Welcome to the turtle, dude.

The housing may be a gift but the rest of the stuff you've got to buy, so think of it more like a trade than anything.

It's not really much of a gift. More like a boon for being kidnapped across dimensions. [Vanessa gives a brief smile.] The rations are in place because Tu Vishan is sick, so everything's dying. I know they're always looking for more hands out on the farms for food.

_{( After Annabeth, he shouldn't be surprised. But he still really, really is. So there's a moment's pause before he gives Percy a flat look. )}

No chance of giving the turtle a healthy dose of Vitamin C, huh?

_{( His eyes get a bit wider at "four months", but he doesn't comment on that immediately. Instead he runs a hand over his face and then shifts his gaze away from the console for a moment. )}

We got back to the Argo II. Right after you and Annabeth...

[His jaw clenches slightly at 'you and Annabeth', because on the heels of Nico, Tartarus is starting claw back up the back of his mind again. He breathes out slowly, nodding] Okay, so you're from pretty much the same time as the rest of us. When I showed up, Annabeth didn't know anything about what happened after the Argo II reached Camp Jupiter. [A faintly awkward pause.] Oh, uh - Leo's here. And Nico just showed up. And you've spoken to Annabeth - but that's everyone. I mean, unless someone else has showed up but hasn't gotten in contact yet. [What he's trying to say is, sorry about your Piper life, bro]

[Of course Annabeth notices the expression on Jason's face. Reading people is second nature, something she does without even trying. It gives her pause, and she doesn't even need to ask what he lasts remembers, because it's not hard to tell.]

[But his question offers her a way to break from her own tension, what with the way he's looking at her.] Actually, we could technically all be clones. [Drops it nbd. Then a pause.] But generally speaking, yes it's me.

As far as I know, nothing about the suites is really all that dangerous. Suspicion is good, though. [You're so wonderfully optimistic, Vanessa.]

No. [She frowns then.] There isn't any real cure.

_{( He nods once, twice, processing the various pieces of information. Sure, the idea of Percy and Annabeth being here, and okay, still doesn't quite compute, but it's better than the alternative and so he's wiling to roll with it. His placid expression shifts abruptly towards the end, though, and he looks mildly troubled.

The realization that Piper isn't here doesn't have time to sink in, either. He was just standing next to her a few hours, ago. Still, he's keeping it together pretty well. He gives himself points, for that. )}

_{( He purses his lips, thoughtful for a moment. )} Well. That's hopeful.

[Percy slams up Leo's encryption] We were brought here by the Emperor to either fight something or...be fed to it, I guess. Asti - the turtle's dying. If we defeat this thing, he might be able to survive. [Three guesses what Percy has decided to care about while on the turtle] I don't think the Emperor's targeting us. She doesn't seem to know - or care - who comes through, so long as they do.

I can't say for sure either way. As far as I'm aware, it hasn't been confirmed, but a cloning facility was discovered under the turtle. There were copies of people. Ask Percy, he was one of the people who found it.

[No, no, don't say that. She's not exactly okay, not with how much she thinks about what's coming. But physically okay, since she's not in Tartarus right now? That's applicable. She tries for a smile, but it's pretty dry and doesn't quite meet her eyes.] I'm always okay. Not that this place is the pinnacle of safety either.

Yeah, but this? Being able to sit here and talk? That's better than a lot of other options.

The danger's probably just always going to be there. But what kind are we talking about, here?

[Precy makes a face] No idea. We can't even talk about it properly outside of the palace without drawing its attention. And we can't go looking for it, because there's a barrier around the whole turtle. No swimming under, or flying over. [SUCK IT]

Paranoia's another good one, but I've been told it's actually pretty bad.

[She gives a strained smile.] I've seen more impossible situations, so who knows. [A beat.] Anyway, don't let me scare you. This place, it's not hell or anything. [Yet.]
