Okay, power button. Check. I thought this could be like that episode of The Twilight Zone where they execute people by blowing up in their rooms and that maybe someone was clever for a change and made the self-destruct button look like the on/off. But! Obviously not, because I'm still here.

I think I'm getting paranoid. It's like there's this voice in my head going -

[Bart holds two fingers up to either side of his head, so they stick up through his hair like ears.]

"Trust nothing."

[He puts his arms down, and he really drops them. They're just suddenly gone, and the camera picks up maybe two frames of the action, but even that's a little lost in a yellow flash. Bart only laughs with relief.]

Hey! Look at that, they weren't lying about that either. Now, if it would just hurry up and work all the time.

Oh, I'm not degrading myself. I'm very confident in my own abilities, but you'd recognize her in an instant with the giant S on the shirt. Me? Not so much into the symbols.

I think the symbols are cool, but that's just me. I like the tradition of it. Tells you in one glance what you're working with.

Oh, they're very cool. Just not very me. [Well, that and she had a talking monkey in her team. Even if she doesn't get recognized, she's pretty sure he gets enough attention for all of them.]

You said you're really confident in your own abilities. Sometimes, I think people just say things to me because they think I'm not paying attention. You also wondered if your reputation preceded you, which means you've got a reputation.

Fallacy. You could be a class clown or the head cheerleader or just that guy in a corner, and you might think 'Oh, I'm remembered as so and so', but that doesn't necessarily mean people actually think that. Not much of a reputation there, just ego. As for abilities--- well, I can juggle, and I am proud of doing it with three balls. Does that count?

Kinda figured, but I'd like to wait until you actually let me know the whole 'secret' anyway.

Fair enough. Supes still has a lot of red. The cape's iconic.

You know what's weird? 40% of people pick blue as their favorite color. It beats the next one by 26%. But the color red attracts the human eye more than anything else.

Got me there. The cape is very attention-grabbing.

Probably because it's the warmest color. It's easier to notice colors like red and yellow because they stimulate the eyes. It's why the color red is practically synonymous to passion for most people. Blue's the opposite. It's a color that calms, and considering people are restless by nature, something less stimulating would be appreciated.

Really? I think it's the opposite of that. I'm the walking definition of restless. I need stimulation.

I was thinking more along the lines of stress, actually. You seem the type who needs to move, or from what I'm gathering, and I've met a few who moves too much and needs a time out.

Nope. Like, I've heard people go "hey, time out, guys." I figured it meant pause. Kinda does still, it was just it being a noun that threw me. We can probably blame it on an abnormal childhood.

Point. Abnormal childhood it is, though that sounds like a backstory I could get into listening to. [Well, she does garble words once in a while, like most teenagers as far as she's concerned, so she brushes off the oddity of it.]

I grew up fighting aliens and flying spaceships and going to school. Every day the world could blow up and be back again the same second like nothing had ever happened. Wake up the next day and do it all over again.
