[A device clicks on, and a face appears on the network: a thin one with a large nose and brown messy hair. And glasses. Needs the glasses to see, you know. He grins, all teeth.]
Alright, then, this is neat, isn't it!
[He's not really saying that to anyone in particular. Don't worry, happens all the time. You'll know if he's speaking to you directly. Most likely.]
Never seen this before. Well, seen things like it, but nothing's ever quite the same in two places, yeah? Bit rubbish that everything in here's made of wood, makes my screwdriver a bit obsolete, but still...
[He laughs, and steps back from the device, standing with his hands on his hips. He's in his suite in the Wood Sector. Pretty nice place, if you ignore the lack of sonic-ing abilities.]
Right. So. I'm the Doctor, just the Doctor, thank you, and I suppose I was brought here, same as all of you. Now who's got something interesting to tell me about their time here?
[A pause, and time to ruminate over a question that's been in his mind since he got here.]
And does anyone know what this planet's base is? Doesn't seem like most other ones. A bit harder, strange in places. What's it made from?

Finally, at long last, his name sputters out. She takes in a deep breath, more or less just taking in the familiar scent of him and the TARDIS disguised as a need to get air. Without really composing herself at all, she lifts her head to look up at him.]
I knew you'd get here eventually. Knew it!
[And really, she had nothing but faith in the fact that he would, she trusts him entirely.]
Took you long enough, though.
no subject
But when she hugs him, he can't help but hug back, letting his arms wrap around her and his head fall on top of hers. He never thought he'd be able to do this again. Ever. He holds her tightly until she pulls away, but he doesn't really let her get that far.]
Excuse you, s'not like I knew you were here! [He'd like to mention that she was most definitely in a different place the last time he saw her, but he'll save that for when they're somewhere more...private.]
Besides, last time I saw you must've been a few hours ago.
no subject
[She gives him a bit of sass, eyebrows arching and looking at him like he better not say he doubts her.]
Like seven weeks longer.
[And things have happened in that time, Doctor. Things. Which might explain her clinginess, as she pulls herself back in for another hug. This one is shorter, because she knows that they really need to get down to business.]
Last thing I remember before waking up here was that black hole. Y'know the one, the asteroid or whatever it was, the one with the devil down in it?
[She looks up at him expectantly, waiting to hear the last thing he remembers. If he was only with her a few hours ago, she wonders if they're from the same point in time. It's definitely possible.]
no subject
[That can't be true. She has to have gotten herself into some sort of trouble, or he'd have failed her as a teacher.
He furrows his brow at her explanation and keeps his face neutral after she's done. It takes a moment, but:]
No, yeah, that's it, down in the pit. Met the Devil and all that, blacked out, woke up here.
[A lie, he knows, but he doesn't have the heart to tell her otherwise. She doesn't need to know. They're here, together, right now. Why would he ruin that?]
no subject
To his question about trouble, she puts on an affronted act, lightly hitting at his arm and looking cross. But then she's all laughter, toothy grins and an excited gleam in her eyes. Just having him this close is enough to make her downright giddy, and also apparently flirty, as she leans in close to whisper to him:]
Oh, you know me just about better than anyone.
[She stays in close but her tone's back to normal now, animated and back to it's usual warmth.]
'Course there was trouble! Got caught up in an explosion or two, got possessed by some kinda ghost thing, almost fell off the side of a building too. Managed to get myself bumped and bruised and hurt a few times, but all that's nothing I can't handle.
[Because you see, she can handle anything, Doctor. Look at how proud she is of surviving through trouble.]
no subject
'Course it isn't. You're Rose Tyler! You absorbed the time vortex. Can't imagine there's much that could take you down.
[Excluding parallel universes, of course.]
no subject
Can I just say, that I've missed you more than you're ever gonna know? Traveling with you, I just love it, you know that! But -
[But they're stuck here for right now, and she couldn't be happier. It means time with just her and him and no impossible planets. Just a turtle. Her smile becomes a bit more subdued, but definitely no less fond.]
But it's real nice not to be here alone anymore.
no subject
Imagine so, yeah.
[He says it quietly, and then wraps an arm around her shoulders, bringing in for a hug.]
Let's go someplace else, yeah? I need you to tell me more about this place. This turtle.
no subject
There's always your place, if you wanna go there? I used to live in this district too, up until there was a big fire and my whole flat burnt up to just about nothing. Now I'm boarding with someone. A friend.
[She makes sure to add that part on, and quickly. Just so they're clear on things.]
no subject
[It's understandable; where ever they end up, Rose usually makes at least one friend by the end of it. Makes sense she'd have some after being here awhile. Seven weeks.]
What sort of friend? What's this friend's name?
[But he still can't help but feel the tiniest bit put out about it.]
no subject
[Or really, she wants the Doctor to adore him and think he's brilliant, but she's going out on a limb here to guess that won't be the case.]
And before you think anything of all that, don't. He's just a mate, not -
[The words anything like you die before they make it out between them. But it's entirely obvious by the look on her face what she's trying to say.]
It's just not like that.
no subject
He has to look away from her then, because blimey, that's uncomfortable isn't it? All that unspoken stuff between them? Right.]
Well, I suppose it makes sense for you to move in with me, then. Y'know. Since you're used to it and all. And it's where you lived before anyway.
[He clears his throat and looks at something in the distance, squinting at it while he waits for her reply.]
You don't have to, of course. If you don't want.
no subject
You sure you wanna do that? Basically the same as getting a mortgage, y'know.
[The conversation they had back on that planet isn't forgotten, and she laughs as she pulls herself in close enough to give him a nudge.]
Of course I wanna move in with you, don't be stupid! [She means it affectionately, though, and the bright smile on her face is evidence enough of that.]
What about you, though? Do you... [She hesitates outright asking, if only because she doesn't want to make him feel awkward on his first day here. But then she thinks, what the hell, she's waited for him long enough to earn herself one really blunt question that deals with his feelings toward her.]
I mean, do you want me to, Doctor?
no subject
Here, though. Here he doesn't have much choice, does he? Might as well make the most of it.
He clears his throat, shrugs.]
Wouldn't've asked, would I?
[Means yes.]
no subject
No, don't suppose you would've. Couldn't think of anyplace I'd rather be, though. C'mon.
[And despite not really knowing which flat is his, she keeps a tight hold on his and and drags him off and away. He'll take the lead in a matter of seconds, she knows.]
