[Sabriel is so relieved that her magic has returned that she's conjured up several twinkling, multicolored lights just to prove that she can, and there's happiness in her expression, but it's mingled with a deep anxiety and something almost like fear.]

I think it's perfectly clear now why we were brought here, and what we were meant to face, although how is still not entirely clear how we're expected to stop- what we're here to stop. [She really needs a euphemism for Malicant.]

If anyone here is interested in learning magic, I'm willing to teach them- even if you couldn't use magic where you come from or if it simply doesn't exist, you should still be able to learn Charter Magic- it can be used to protect others, as well as for healing, self defense, and many other uses, although if you seek to abuse it, you will not enjoy the consequences. [Sabriel's voice carries both the solemnity of someone who can back up their words, and the hesitation of someone who would prefer not to.]

If you're already trained in some form of magic, I'd like to speak with you as well- I want to see how well our different abilities can link together.

And there's one last thing I need to say. [Sabriel straightens up, her tone becoming almost painfully formal.]

At my latest meeting with the Alderwood Commander I learned that my father has- has died. [All the formality does a poor job of hiding her grief, though she forces her way through it.] So the title of Abhorsen passes to me. My duty is to protect people from dangerous magic, whether in the form of necromancers, dangerous spirits, or the Dead, as well as laying the dead to rest. [Sabriel steadies herself before adding one more thing.]

I know this isn't the Old Kingdom, but I still intend to fulfill my duties here to the best of my abilities.

I want all of us to meet together- I know magic isn't as strong as it should be, but with everthing that's happened, and what we've learned about our enemy- I want to teach all of you as much as you're able to learn.

[EDIT: While Sabriel will happily try to teach everyone, only those without pre-existing superhuman/magical abilities will be able to actually learn Charter Magic!]

I... don't know. It's worked on everyone I've baptized, except one person who already had a power. [Although Sabriel's not sure if it's because Amon was a waterbender, or because of the unusual circumstances of the baptism.]

[Traci really needs to work on her schedule, she knows, especially since she's shoving lessons and work in between her own practices so she can absorb as much information as she can here, but on the other hand...]

Never quite tried that magic before. How does it work exactly?

Charter Magic? It draws on the Charter- the- it's a kind of force that exists in the Old Kingdom, and her as well. People who've been baptized into the Charter are able to pull symbols from it and work spells with the marks.

I've been teaching it to people who don't have any special abilities here, to help them defend themselves.

Don't have those in my world, but if it's magic, I'd love to learn it. [Expand her knowledge and all, because there was nothing wrong with getting rid of her limitations if she could.] Is it only for combat? Or does it do more than that?

Magic, huh? Why is it everything around here has to do with magic? [There was not nearly as much magic shenanigans going on back home, unless England was up to something that day.]

And if we're here to kill the Energizer Bunny, what good is it if he just slinks off to come back later? We can't stay indefinitely.

Because there are many mages here, of various kinds.

And we'll just have to find a way to stop our enemy permanently. [Sabriel does her best to look determined, though she doesn't know how they'll be able to defeat Malicant permanently.]

[Prussia still finds it kind of stupid how everything comes back to magic because magic is also what got them trapped there...somehow. Doesn't make magic come out looking all that great.]

Kill him, you mean. This isn't some bad dog you can stick in a kennel. The thing needs to die.

Scott knows that grief, turned into his own personal security blanket after Cassie's death, and he hates seeing that grief mirrored in the face of this young woman.]

I'm sorry. About your dad. [Softly. Solemnly.] Is your mom still around at least?

[Somehow he suspects not, but he can't help but ask regardless.]

No, she- she died shortly after I was born. Father talked about her, sometimes.

[For Richard, the wound of losing his father is still not healed. Korra's recent reminder on what being king at his age means for his father only makes the injury feel more fresh, and he can't help the sympathy he has for Sabriel.

So, with his head bowed in respect of the dead, he gives a Windor expression of condolence and congratulations,] I'm sorry for your loss and wish you well in your new position. May the wind guide you.

[He locks his fingers together as he focuses on the rest of it.] I am trained in magic and am interested to see how various abilities can be worked together for greater effect.

Thank you. [Sabriel's had only a month to come to terms with the fact that not only was her father dead, he'd been as good as dead since before she'd set foot in the Old Kingdom. But here, as in her homeland, there were things she had to deal with beyond her own grief.]

Thank you- I think that our best chance against our enemy is to work together as much as possible.

I've studied many types of sorcery but I've never heard of "Charter Magic".

It's the most widely practiced form of magic in the Old Kingdom- I suppose you could say it's one of the country's foundations.
