[So Prussia has found out by today that he is kind of low on those things called 'friends' and he is still currently stuck with the inability to talk. He would really like to not have that problem anymore and from what the kedan have said, he's got one shot to do it.

If he can find sponsors of all things.]

Okay, so who else has heard from the damn kedan about fixing whatever the hell happened a few months ago? When people were turning into poltergeists all over town.

[Of course everyone remembers right.]

So tell me about yourselves! Everybody's got to have some similarities. I want to know how we're alike.

[Bother to explain why he wants to know? Explain what these two things have to do with each other? Of course not! Takes too many words. Although for good measure he does put the message up in English, somewhat old-fashioned French, and Russian, too, not just German.]

[So Kurt has a tiny tree set up behind him. It's the best he could do, and he thinks it's pretty charming with it's ribbon wrapped around it and small ornaments hanging from the branches. He's also managed to find, make or whatever it was, a Santa hat.]

I know that it's been a sad affair for most people in recent days, but I was wondering if anyone else had the kedan at their door baring gifts? I'm hoping so because I really don't know what I've done here to deserve such gifts. I'm not complaining because they are wonderful.

[He holds up a glass and with his tail wrapped around the neck of a bottle he pours a drink into it, and toasts to uh, everyone.]

So, I hope it's not in bad taste if I say Merry Christmas. Emma, there's a bottle here with your name on it if you want to come for a drink. [He looks over to it and shrugs.] Might not be Cristal but it's the best I can do.

As some of you may know, I was hired to find the person responsible for multiple killings in September, along with an attempted homicide. That person has now killed the Emperor. [ There's a flash of something like remorse, but it only lasts a second before her jaw tightens. There's no time to feel guilty for not catching the person sooner. She has to stop him now, before he kills again. ]

I have a list of suspects. I've narrowed it down significantly. If you were one of the people I talked to about it, please see me immediately.

[ Jack's voice is one of the biggest changes that he'd been affected with: higher and lighter, even without the soft tone that he's speaking with right now. If you haven't spoken to him since the misspell took hold, it might even be hard to identify the audio only feed as his, unless the console ID is checked. ]

Traci didn't show up for work today so I went to check on her. Her suite is empty... it looks like she's gone home too.

[ A pause, almost like he intended that to be the end of the feed and then he speaks again, this time with resolve and a lilt much more like Jack Frost. ]

I know this has been mentioned offhandedly a few times in the past but I hadn't heard of anyone taking it on, so I'll be doing it from now on: keeping track of everyone whose come and gone from Tu Vishan. And I don't just mean their names and dates... but what made them important while they were here.

[ another pause, and the faint chirp of Baby Tooth in the background ]

That's all, I guess.

[He's short with all the roundness of baby fat in his cheeks and in a shirt much too big for himself. Some may recognize the wild hair and eyes--they are a bit redder and brighter in color than they were before. And while a lot of people may look annoyed or angry? He's positively beaming.]

Who did it? England's not around with his fairy wand, so one of you had to have done it. You may have thought this was a fun prank but it is the best day since I've been here yet! It's like it's the thirteenth century all over again. I hadn't realized I was this adorable back then. [Obviously someone has been top absorbed in himself to pay much attention to the announcements.]

So how many of you got turned into cute little kids? I bet none of you are as cute as I was. But now all of my clothes are too big. Anyone want to trade? Better yet! Anyone know a good seamstress?

[He is sitting easily at his desk, a little too pleased with himself, mainly because who wouldn't be when they just recently climbed up to the to of their house to stake a large white and black flag with a black eagle on it there. Anyone who comes by the Earth Sector-D suites won't be able to miss it. How did he manage to get a flagpole to stay up there? That's just his secret.

Right now he's smiling, leaning back in his chair with feet propped on something out of view, while looking over a book in his hands that seems simple. Nothing stands out about the dark cover, save for the golden letters etched into the front that reads Holy Bible to those that can understand it.]

Then God said, "The waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear"; and so it happened.

[He gives a chuckle and moves his feet and as more of his head comes into view it's rather obvious that a little yellow bird is currently perched on top in the nest its made of his white hair. Its wings flap a bit to stay steady in its spot and Prussia doesn't even acknowledge it. He just keeps talking.]

So I guess we did the exact opposite here, didn't we? Who needs waters to move when you can dive to get to the land. [He shuts the book and holds it up.] And never let it be said that the great Kingdom of Prussia doesn't give faith back to those that lose it. Kurt, you shouldn't leave the good book around. You're lucky I found it and not some crazy book burner.

[He doesn't actually know it is this Kurt's but really he doesn't know any other Kurts, so he's going to assume it is. The little bird on his head jumps up and flaps its wings as if in agreement only to plop itself back down on Prussia's head. Still, he doesn't notice. Either the bird is too light or his head is too thick? Someone might want to mention it since it has been on his head for two days now.]

[The post is the first word from anyone in Team 7 since a few days before the 13th, and unusual for Temeraire in more than a few ways: the feed is audio only, for one, and when he speaks, for another, his voice is hesitant, slow, and clearly shaken.]

This is--

This is hardly the best time to say this, in light of all our recent difficulties, with these creatures, and I do not know where to begin--I must beg your pardon, but--

--it came for us.

[He falls silent. An astute listener might notice significantly less trilling coming from the feed than most broadcasts on the network: he has been taking out his frustration on the tribbles, and his apartment is, for the moment, mostly tribble-free. Well, mostly free of living tribbles. Pity, really, since it sounds like he might have needed the calming effect.

He takes a deep breath, and tries again.]

We were in the palace--there were interrogations to be conducted, on behalf of Evandau--and it came for us. It took us--

[Silence again. Clearly he is choosing all the wrong places to begin, and it is some time before he resumes with:] Annabeth spoke of a realm of Death, in her last post, and what I saw, for a moment, was very like her description. In any case--there is no question that is its country; that it may do whatever it likes to whomever is unfortunate enough to enter it; and that what occurs in that realm, however fleeting the event, feels as real and vivid as if it had occurred in this reality.

I know that we must fight it regardless, but I fear I cannot imagine how.

[And this time there is only a moment of silence before he lets out a quavering breath, and cuts the feed. Any responses to the post come several hours later.]

[Kurt has spent some time looking over the network and thought about what it is he actually wanted to say. He's sat with one elbow perched on the desk area and a curious expression.]

Has anyone ever actually gotten beyond the barrier around the turtle? I know that people have gotten close and have apparently fallen unconscious, but has anyone attempted to jump beyond it?

[He leans back and leans further into the chair he's sat on.]

In theory, I should be able to get from our side to the other without much hassle. All I'd need to know is how far it takes before things happen to make people black out.

I know someone was talking about making a ship, sorry, I didn't catch your name, but if people do black out and if I can get through without anything happening, then I might be able to help people get through without losing consciousness. Assuming the reason for the ship was to also leave the shell and go beyond the barrier keeping us here.

I'd want to try it out before committing to anything.

[Sabriel is so relieved that her magic has returned that she's conjured up several twinkling, multicolored lights just to prove that she can, and there's happiness in her expression, but it's mingled with a deep anxiety and something almost like fear.]

I think it's perfectly clear now why we were brought here, and what we were meant to face, although how is still not entirely clear how we're expected to stop- what we're here to stop. [She really needs a euphemism for Malicant.]

If anyone here is interested in learning magic, I'm willing to teach them- even if you couldn't use magic where you come from or if it simply doesn't exist, you should still be able to learn Charter Magic- it can be used to protect others, as well as for healing, self defense, and many other uses, although if you seek to abuse it, you will not enjoy the consequences. [Sabriel's voice carries both the solemnity of someone who can back up their words, and the hesitation of someone who would prefer not to.]

If you're already trained in some form of magic, I'd like to speak with you as well- I want to see how well our different abilities can link together.

And there's one last thing I need to say. [Sabriel straightens up, her tone becoming almost painfully formal.]

At my latest meeting with the Alderwood Commander I learned that my father has- has died. [All the formality does a poor job of hiding her grief, though she forces her way through it.] So the title of Abhorsen passes to me. My duty is to protect people from dangerous magic, whether in the form of necromancers, dangerous spirits, or the Dead, as well as laying the dead to rest. [Sabriel steadies herself before adding one more thing.]

I know this isn't the Old Kingdom, but I still intend to fulfill my duties here to the best of my abilities.

[Locked to her students; Basic encryption]

I want all of us to meet together- I know magic isn't as strong as it should be, but with everthing that's happened, and what we've learned about our enemy- I want to teach all of you as much as you're able to learn.

[EDIT: While Sabriel will happily try to teach everyone, only those without pre-existing superhuman/magical abilities will be able to actually learn Charter Magic!]

[Sadie turns the feed in a fairly okay mood. She has a box in front of her, and it seems to be making squeaking sounds]

First--whoever finally got the turtle moving again and whatnot? You are amazing. I thought I'd be okay not having my magic but I was wrong and those aren't words you'll hear from me all that often.

Second. [She taps the lid of the box in front of her] So when I got here, there was a boy. He was a very rude boy, who made fun of my boyfriend. He hit on me as well, but mostly he insulted my boyfriend. I am very protective of my friends and family, so insulting them is the fastest way to get me angry at you. And people don't like me all that much when I'm angry. Things tend to blow up and people usually spend a few hours as a banana slug or an earthworm or something. [Or there are threats of slugification] Not that I could do anything to this boy, as almost as soon as I got here my magic stopped, but I swore I'd get him back. So, when I woke up this morning and realized that oh, hey, I can blow things up again, I went to go find this boy.

[She opens the box and pulls out a brown hamster who squeaks]

Say hello to the nice people, Leo. [Boy, it feels good to have her magic back and turning people into critters (and then using said critter as a sort of warning that, hey, you might not want to mess with her). She smirks.] I have to say, he's much cuter as a hamster.

[Hannibal stands centered in front of the camera, looking oddly calm and not disheveled in the slightest.]

I suppose I should make a proper introduction, and this seems the best way to do it although it's dreadfully impersonal.

I am Dr. Hannibal Lecter. I'm a psychiatrist, and was a physician for many years before my retirement from that field. However, if I've understood correctly we are facing some difficult times here, so I am happy to offer my medical services if needed. A shame about the rationing, too. Proper nutrition is essential, and there's nothing quite like a well-cooked meal.

But, regardless of the situation, I am very pleased to meet you all and I hope we can get to know each other better.

[Carol is seated calmly in front of the console in her suite, long hair braided and pulled over her shoulder, dressed casually in a t-shirt, her chin resting in her hand]

So no powers. Kinda sucks, I guess, but what're you gonna do? At least there's not a dinosaur chasing me this time. [She shrugs, casually, as if she's not at all bothered by the loss of her powers. She is bothered, of course, but she has other skills to defend herself with. Military and martial arts training can't be taken away from you like superpowers can be]

Anyway, the real point of this is that I'm curious. How many of our previously powered population [Alliteration!] actually know how to fight without their powers? Because apparently we're here to fight something and we have no idea how long this no powers thing is gonna last. Just, you know, for reference. And if you don't know how to fight powerless, would you be willing to learn? Actually, how many of our always unpowered population know how to fight? That's probably important. [She just kind of assumes a lot of people without powers would know how to defend themselves. That's how it works in her experience] I know someone else offered to teach and I probably could too.

Just a thought.

[Jim's sitting in his suite, wearing his command golds, looking serious as a heart attack. He's leaning forward, one hand braced against the armrest of his chair, the other fiddling with something on the console. Satisfied, he leans back more fully and nods once to the camera.]

Okay, let's get the introductions out of the way first. Name's Jim, Jim Kirk. Captain of the USS Enterprise. I serve in Starfleet in the year 2259 - Starfleet being a space-based armada focused on peaceful exploration and the discovery of new forms of life in the universe.

[There's a slight quirk to his brow, he coughs and then continues with all due charisma,]

I know there's people out there that've been here longer than I have, so I'm asking for your help - and the assistance of anyone willing. We know we're here to fight something, some of you know what and why. While I can understand the reasoning behind keeping that information to allies, I'd like to stress the fact that we're all in this together, regardless of worlds, races or creeds. This isn't something we can or should fight blind. So I'm proposing a broader alliance, a centralized repository of information, and the consideration of a unified front to face whatever's coming.

Additionally, I'm interested in the martial capabilities of the landed foreigners, any contingency plans that have been put in place to deal with the situations we're potentially facing here, and the sorts of scenarios that've been dealt with in the past.

[He exhales a little more sharply than necessary, and then he gives the camera a brief, two-fingered salute.]

Kirk out.

If I had known there was going to be a vacation so suddenly I would have booked first class on the coach ride. Or at least have asked the kedan before we moved out for an upgrade.

Not going to be a journey I go on again in a hurry.

[The light smile he had been playing with slowly turns downwards and his brows come closer together.]

They aren't exactly the talkative kind, are they? I'm assuming there are people here that arrived like me? I'm also going to assume that there's probably no point in asking where the exit is, huh?

[Carol is seated in front of her console, in civvies. Actually, sitting might be the wrong term. She's more floating a few inches above her chair, legs crossed. She does this sometimes without thinking when she's sitting. She looks mostly unbothered by this whole thing. A little frustrated maybe but at most it seems to be a minor inconvenience]

So. Alternate universes are a bitch, huh? Or whatever you'd classify this as. You would think whatever bigger power it is you believe in would have decided by now that this has happened to me enough but I guess not. Oh well, what can you do? [Said oh so casually like she has just seen way too much of of this shit. Which she has. Weird happenings are sort of a thing in her life ]

Anyway, alternate universe craziness aside, my name's Carol. Nice to meet you guys. Under the circumstances and all. I'm sure you hear stuff like this a lot but let's just get this out of the way first: What's the progress on not being here anymore?

And while I'm asking things, how many people here are from Earth? Better yet, who here has heard of the Avengers, the X Men or Captain America? Or who knows anything about superheroes at all, even if it's not any of the things I just mentioned? Let's just say I want to know for my own reference.

[She'd also like to see just how many people ended up here from her world. Or a world similar to hers. Having more superheroes around never hurt. She pauses and glances off to the side, looking at something intensely for a minute as if considering something very important before turning back to the console]

Unrelated but can the fires around here actually burn things? Just, you know, curious.

[Ah, success! Eponine has succeeded in getting the console to work, which she considers quite a lofty feat since devices like this are not exactly common where she is from. But in any case, it is on, and that is what counts.

She is seated and looking quite comfortable in her room. Yes, she feels comfortable, but a little bored at the same time. She has been passing the time by wandering about the city, but surely people here do more than that to pass the time.

And that is the reason why she has turned on the console: to learn from others what sort of things they get up to for enjoyment and amusement.]

Ah, hello! Now that I have succeeded in turning this object on, I have something I would like to ask you. [This does feel slightly awkward, speaking to people she has not yet met, but she presses on resolutely anyway.]

Because it seems as though we are going to be here for quite some time, I have begun to wonder about some things. How do you pass the time? I find myself growing rather bored, although I have spent some time walking through the city. But I cannot do that forever, or I do not think I want to do that forever.

Come! You must have some favorite thing that amuses you! I would like to hear it, if you are agreeable.

I gotta ask if that's how all newcomers are treated. That whole song-and-dance about In Between? Not that I ain't heard weirder, I've heard weirder. But it's up there.

[When the video turns on, Lyall is doing up one of his cuffs, his expression rather more sour than usual. He quickly drops his hand when he sees that the camera has turned on already.]

Is anyone keeping track of the places where our kedan friends have devolved into open hostilities? Are there any particularly risky neighbourhoods? I was just forced to ruin a nice set of clothes to escape a particularly rude group. I liked that waistcoat, and I don't suppose I'll be able to replace it any time soon with supplies being what they are. What a pity.

At least I saved my hat.

[Indeed, people who were in the Fire Sector earlier may have seen a small wolf (or possibly a large fox) running through the streets with a bowler hat in its mouth.]
