[Nita is looking perkier than she has since the Malicant mess started. She's also looking moist, since, with the return of her gills, she's been spending most of her time underwater, and only came up now to make a network post. And, last of all, she's looking concerned, because there's something that's been bothering her, and she just can't figure it out.]

I'm not even close to a magical theorist or anything, and there's gotta be someone who knows more about this stuff than I do... I have a question.

How did some of us lose things we always had? Like, I understand, sort of, how Captain America--sorry, Cap, I'm gonna use you as an example--could lose his powers, 'cause he got them from an experiment. I even kind of get how mutant powers like my ankle wings could go away, because they're genetic but they're not really normal. But my gills--and the other Atlanteans' gills--closed up! That's not special! Every member of our species has those!

What's going on with this place that it can take away ordinary things?

Oh, Neptune. I've never--I didn't know what drowning felt like. Now I understand why surface dwellers are so terrified of it.

I've never had to be scared of being underwater before. [She knows those feels brosis.]

But yeah, I think I'm ready to dunk myself in the ocean again soon.

For real. I'm gonna have to jog out there until my wings grow back, though.

Did they get hurt? [Not really knowing how the depowering affected Nita, Korra was scared they might have gotten ripped off somehow.]

I could heal them if they did. I think.

They fell off when the whole power loss mess suppressed my X-gene.

[Because Korra totally knows what an "X-gene" is.]

They're growing back, but I don't know if your heal-bending [that's totally what it's called, right?] can speed that up or what. [Touchy subject, but:] Noatak--Amon--had trouble using his bending on me when I was hurt before.

Oh. [That’s a ‘No idea what you just said, but I’ll roll with it for now.’ Oh.]

[”Growing” is a headshake. That would be like trying to use waterbending to get someone’s hair to grow faster.]

Remembering how dim Amon’s light had been when he had healed that kedan back at the satellite crash, that made sense to her. Not that Korra wanted to address it, but: Nita.]

That’s probably because he had to learn it on his own. [Korra had a teacher to instruct her and guide her through the ins and outs of healing, and it had come a long way since Katara had saved the world over seventy years ago.]

[No big deal.]

I figured.

[She laughs.]

He got frustrated and dropped the water all over me. That helped.

[Picturing Amon, the man that brought fear into her life, being clumsy actually got Korra to laugh.]

Not everyone’s meant to be a healer. Some waterbenders can’t even do it. [She was sure Tarrlok couldn’t, or at least hasn’t, from the way she heard the explanation of how he lied about chi blockers attacking both him and her. He had been healed by another.]

Hey, if I had my airbending under control, I’d fly you myself. Only fair, right? [Nita did give her a lift when she needed it.]

He...doesn't really seem to have that kind of personality, huh?

[Nita likes him, but Nita is friendship Easy Mode, and even she knows the guy is not functional.]

...Why is that one slower to come back than the rest?

No, he doesn’t at all. I think my boyfriend had it right when said “This is guy is insane.”

Oh it’s back, I just have a learning block for airbending. Mastering it is a lot harder for me since it’s opposite to my personality. At least that’s what my teacher said.

My powers are pretty much all physical, so I never had to practice that way.

"The Avatar" would make a pretty good superhero name, and I don't think it's taken.

The clothing requirement looks a bit too constrictive for me. Superhero sounds nice, but I’ll stick with the whole Avatar thing. Besides, I don’t like the term meta-human and people calling me that would just be- ugh, no.

[That’s without even mentioning secret identities. To Korra, those were just silly.]

[Korra, have you been talking to the DC crowd?]

Nobody calls us "meta-humans" where I'm from.

[And the Marvel crowd a bit too.]

So you’re from the “mutant” one then, huh? [Korra had never had an easy time figuring out which heroes came from which earth.]

I don’t get why we can’t just be humans, Atlanteans, and stuff. [Stuff would include ninja turtles.] Why all the M-words?

Well, "mutant" actually means something specific. Like, how... [oh god what does she actually know about bending] ...only Water Tribe people can be waterbenders, only certain people are mutants, and if you're not born that way, you can't become one.

And--not so sure about this one, 'cause it's not my universe--"meta-human" covers everyone with powers, the same way you're all benders, but you break it down farther by what kind of bender you are.

[Korra tried to follow, her eyebrows unable to decide which one should be raised.]

But even benders are humans before anything else. The way everyone else uses those words, it sounds like they’re treating them differently and it doesn’t make sense to me.

People are just people, right?

[As far as Nita's concerned, but some folks just gotta make things difficult.]

There are groups like the Equalists back where I'm from. They don't let people be "just people." Vic and Santo could have problems walking down the street, 'cause they look different.

OH.

I mean, they might be mistaken for spirits on my world, but that’s not a bad thing. So just because they can do something different?

Sometimes people without powers get scared. I guess it's understandable, but turning into Nazis because of it isn't right.

[Wait.]

...Nazis were bad guys from my world who were trying to exterminate anyone who was different.
