Now she's bothering though, mainly because she just wants to ask:]

So explain this war business to me again. Or at least try to convince me why I should care. Because right now? I really can't find much inside to say I should.

Stupid piece of crap...

[Really, he knows how to use devices, he's just... really frustrated and mostly angry right now.]

Vergil! [Can't find his number? Call him out. He won't hear the end of this, Dante knows it, but he doesn't actually care because there are bigger issues than dealing with his paranoid twin getting his thong in a twist over shouting his name.] What the fuck is going on? You said we were going to the real world, not this place! A basin? Are you serious? Your damn number of the beast and the pentagram got us here? You know what I want? A pizza. For those of you who are familiar with it, I just realized how long it's been since I've actually had a good pizza, and it's almost criminal. For the rest of you, you don't know what you're missing.

You think we can get a pizzeria started somewhere?

And while I'm thinking here, is anyone really that uncomfortable? It's not so bad once you figure out the secret to it.

[The smile he puts on is deliberate and smug. It's the kind of expression he gives when he knows someone else wants him to have a bad day just so he can ruin their plans. Or maybe he's just trying to piss someone else off. Who knows?]

Want a hint? Here's a hint: When is a door not a door?

"Ajar" doesn't sound like "a jar".

[Locked; encrypted 50%]

That's not even the answer I'm looking for. But this is the next clue.

[Locked; encrypted 80%]

M must be for marshmallow. And we all know that marshmallows aren't that intimidating.

The answer is adaptation. The riddle was just for fun. Also it's when it's ajar. [No it wasn't. It was "code" or "back door".]

He's even smiling now, actually, attempting to look as cheerful as possible.]

Hey. Been a while since I really used one of these things. Things just got pretty busy and all that - can't help it when things like that happen, huh?

[In busy more or less equals to 'constant nightmares' and a desire to ignore anything superhero related. Hal has not been really having it easy ever since the whole fog and bottle thing last month.]

Anyway, uh--heard one of the bosses in Stark's place is gone, but the party must go on, and all that. Anybody have an idea of what kind of party they want? [Brief pause as something comes to mind.] I mean, sure, its usually only for employees, but maybe if there's enough interest we can make it a public thing. Might be good to mingle a bit more than usual crowd, yeah? As long as there's interest for it.

As some of you may have noticed, there was an incident in Kithika that resulted in numerous people being injured or killed.

Those responsible are making reparations. Visiting hours in the prison are 1300 to 1900, for anyone that wants to see Kal or Jor-El.

[His expression flicks down to paperwork on his desk, which he straightens out meticulously.]

I'm offering compensation for any injuries sustained. This was done in my service, so if you were hurt either fighting the Kryptonians or the other dangers in Kithika, speak with me.

[The feed clicks to life even as Aang is settling himself back down into the chair opposite the console. He's not a big kid to begin with, but there's something about his posture that makes him look even smaller than his usual scrawny self. Perhaps it's the overall lack of enthusiasm to his movements, or the fact that his eyes are red-rimmed, as if he'd recently stopped crying.
Either way, he doesn't look like happy camper.]

Hi. I'm Aang. I just...Toph was here a lot longer than I've been, and she knows way more people than I do. I'm sure I haven't even met a good number of you, which is why I'm using this to let you know that...she's not here anymore.

[He pauses, turning towards something off camera. Something that makes him smile in spite of his sadness. For those that'd recognize it, there's a slight background chittering of a flying lemur.]

Thanks for the reminder, Buddy.

Well someone here has completely dropped the ball. I know there are at least a few people around who are rich and Earth-savvy enough to get everyone presents for the month. Maybe celebrate the break from so much cold or the coming of good fortune or something like that. We could use a celebration right about now.

At the very least, I'll try to do my part. [Tony gives the network a winning smile and holds up a small, strange-looking flower playfully. It almost makes the next part sound more like a joke than any real offer.] I've got a few too many of these, so if anyone would like to take them off my hands, I'll be happy to give you a discount.

And if you're available, Miss Frost, I'd love to spend some quality time with you. If your schedule will allow it, of course.

I know several of you have been investigating the enemy on your own. I'm sure you all have more information than I have, and I'm hoping we can share. Some people who made significant headway are no longer with us. I'm hoping they might have told others their findings.

Here's what I have, uploaded directly from my console, so I apologize for the... not-altogether-professional language:

Among the snow is a vast collection of random junk, including some Angry Birds robots and other things people may recognize as once belonging to an absentee trickster god.

Also there's a bloodhound. A bloodhound which is rolling around in the snow and saying indistinct things about entrails and murder. Standard stuff, really, for a bloodhound.

Gene closes his mouth, whatever he was about to say forgotten in the wake of this new fuckery. He looks back, taking in the scene behind him for a good five seconds, and turns back to the camera, his face a mask of utter, dangerous calm.]

[The image opens to a rare sight: Tony and Bruce, attempting at least for now to look professional in front of the camera. On Bruce, it just means that he looks slightly more serious than normal, still as unassuming and haggard as ever. On Tony, it means that he looks a little too perfectly put together, like a team of stylists and PR personnel came through and worked him over before letting him out in public. Visually they look like opposing bookends, especially with the varying heights.

Bruce clears his throat. Public speaking is not his strong suit, and he's a bit grim from the Archive's disappearance, which he'd noticed very quickly. It makes it hard for him to talk business, with the idea of anyone replacing her patently impossible, but Bruce never lets sentiment get in his way.]
Hi. Uh… You might know us already, but there's been a lot of-- appearances and disappearances lately, so maybe not.

[ Tony chimes in then, with a brief half-smile toward the camera that’s recording them. ]

And if you don’t know us, I’m Tony Stark, CEO of Stark Industries. [ He nods toward Bruce. ] And this is Bruce Banner, Chief—Well, basically he’s my second-in-command. Officially, he’s—What did you put on the brochure, JARVIS? Head of Whatever? [ JARVIS did not, in fact, put anything on the brochure. That was all Tony. And since there’s no one else in view, it might look like he’s talking to thin air, especially since he keeps talking without waiting for anyone to respond to the question. ] Yeah, that’s his title. Anyway, since there’s so much turnover in the city, we wanted to let those of you looking for employment know that we are hiring. If you’re a scientifically or technologically minded individual with experience in the field. We’re a company, not a daycare, so, you know, some experience is required.

Though age isn't a precluding factor, [Bruce adds.] If you're brilliant at fifteen… you're still brilliant. We try to work on things that are related to our-- stated purpose here, but while we're waiting for developments, we're available to be commissioned. I did the hydroponics greenhouse about eight months ago, for example. It's still functioning. [Mostly run by NPCs at this point, but there's no reason to shut it down.

It may be obvious that Tony hasn’t been paying much attention to what Bruce is saying as he blinks abruptly and says, apropos to nothing: ]
And Head of Fun and Mischief. [ He winks conspiratorially at the screen, dropping his voice to a stage whisper that’s completely pointless, given that Bruce is sitting right there in earshot. ] I know he probably doesn’t look it, but Bruce is like the most fun guy I know. Which means he’s in charge of organizing the monthly office party. [ If Tony has any sympathy for dropping a ridiculous promotion on Bruce out of nowhere, he certainly doesn’t act like it. ]

--Wait, what? [Bruce was trying to get through all the things he wanted to say without fumbling too much, which is really all the goal he usually has when posting, and it takes him a second to realize that Tony isn't just going off on a brief tangent, he's going off the track entirely.] I decline the position, [he says dryly, the second he recovers.] Having it monthly is… way too many parties. I know you actually do work. A lot of it.

[ Conducting official business is as boring as sitting through a staff meeting and Tony’s used up his professional quota for the month. That decline gets an immediate shake of his head, as he looks over at Bruce and points a finger. ] Nope. No can do. You can’t decline the position and then try to manage the parties. You either have to take the position or you have to attend mandatory weekly parties. One or the other.

[There's a momentary pause as Bruce calculates that in his head.] So if I take it, I don't have to go? [He's skeptical. Tony seems bound and determined to get him out and socializing, and that seems like too obvious a loophole.]

If you take it, you can schedule the parties whenever you like. [ Which Tony knows means that the Stark Industries social calendar will get really empty really fast. But that’s the beauty of being the boss; he can call an emergency party whenever he feels like it. ]

Fine, [Bruce sighs, and decides that's entirely enough of that. An astute viewer might notice him rolling his eyes as he reaches out and switches off the feed.]

[He falls silent again as he figures out what else to say.]

It's like I just got him back and now he's gone again. [He hasn't worked it out, but it feels like in all the years he's known him, Barry was dead longer than he was alive.]

( For someone who is generally a smiling presence on the network, Shockwave is surprisingly morose. Dressed in a somber black dress, hair pulled back into a simple braided bun, there's a weight to Shockwave's expression that has been absent for most of Shockwave's time on the turtle. It's overwhelmingly sad, but lacking the traces of tears or red eyes that one might associate with it. There's only so much a holoform can do - crying is not one of them. )

Orion Pax has gone. If anyone has information on what happens after we've vanished from this place, I would appreciate it. ( Call it scientific curiosity, but also call it trying to keep tabs on if there's any trace of Cybertronian technology just laying around for someone to stumble across. A second or two passes in which Shockwave buries their face in their hands, shoulders slumping. Shockwave managed to get the majority of a very emotional reaction over and done with before approaching the network, but apparently not all of it. Looking back up at the feed, Shockwave continues. ) If you had dealings with him, I apologize. I cannot take his place in law enforcement, but I will do my best to keep any other arrangements he might have made.

( Shockwave pushes something away from the feed gently, a flash of plush horns and fur the only glimpse of the robotic plush Shockwave received as a gift the last landfall. But it does remind Shockwave that there's still things to be discussed rather than wallowing around in grief. )

It's come to my attention that a few datapads from my world might have ended up at auction last month. They're rather large - it's hard to mistake them for anything else. If you've managed to come into possession of one I'll gladly repay you the cost and more for their return.

And lastly, is there still any interest for a school? It would be impossible to force anyone to attend who didn't wish to, nor do I think we should be constrained by what we deem to be a traditional educational system. Just those willing to teach and those willing to learn, regardless of age.

[He needs to stop thinking that he's incapable of being surprised. By the end of the Battle of New York, Steve thought he had seen it all. Insane technology, other worlds, aliens... What else could there possibly be?

The answer, of course, is a giant turtle in a realm outside the continuity of time. He had a long chat about nearly everything with the locals that helped him earlier, but it's still crazy, and he probably wouldn't have believed it if he hadn't seen some of the turtle shell himself.

Yet here he is. It'll probably all sink in over time; Steve's been overloaded with so much information over the past few hours and it's exhausting, even for him.

Getting on the computer hadn't been his top priority, but he's already gone outside of his new home and back. Steve's experienced enough culture shock for today. He might as well at least reach out and introduce himself to all of the other people who wound up here like him.

Once he's got the computer up and running, he accesses the network using the video function. He looks a little stiff and probably as exhausted as he feels, but that's the least of his concerns right now.]

I have a couple questions that I'd like to have verified. [It doesn't necessarily mean he'll believe whatever he's told, but second opinions are typically useful.] We're all more or less stuck on this turtle, right? But there's a way back.

[That's a question as well, but it ends up sounding more like a statement. It sounds like a reasonable assumption. There obviously isn't a rush since no time is passing back home; he just wants to know.]

[ After all the news of the day, Peter found himself struggling with a very important decision. No one, as far as he knew, had been aware of what lay in his possession when he arrived here. If anyone did, he imagined people would be chasing him down or trying to beat down his door. This was majorly phenomenal cosmic power that they were talking about; imagine anyone being able to bend matter, energy - basically, all of reality - to their whims.

But there was a chance here that the object in his possession, the cosmic cube, could be used to combat whatever flarkin' jerk that was creeping about this place. He knew better than to let it be used for something that could alter history - that was a road no one should ever go down. Taking out this Malicant entity in the here and now, though? What harm would there be in that?

So after hours over agonizing, he finally settled down at his console to address everyone who would listen.
]

Evening, everyone. The name's Peter Quill, if we haven't met before. I'm sorry to be making an introduction at such a somber time, but if we hesitate, we could lose a lot of important time.

[ He paused for just a second. ]

The universe I come from, the things I've dealt with- I'm sure some of you have dealt with similar things in your universes. I've seen cosmic forces take on human and monstrous forms; in my universe, there are people who've spoken to Death herself.

These forces all function on a scale you can't even imagine, and there are things that make even them concerned.

[ Peter's brow furrowed, and his fingers laced together more tightly. ]

When I arrived here, about two weeks ago, I arrived with one of those things in my possession. Some might call it a weapon, but it's way more than that. It was way more than that, at least. [ Here came the hitch. ]

Before I go begging for any and all scientific types and magic-users to come out of the woodwork, and definitely before I let any of you know what I have with me- you all need to know that this thing is broken and needs to be fixed. It's a long shot, but it could be one of our best options in fighting whatever's floating around.

The Ironwood Emperor is-- [Here, he breaks a moment before the line of his jaw settles with stonelike strength and he continues.] She is dead.

[Centuries of war that she survived, centuries of difficulties, and he found her as innocently dead as a victim in a murder. Evandau appears torn, once again on the brink of the grief that threatens to consume him, but he forces himself into mould of a Commander so that he might serve the purpose of this message.]

The sealed scroll outlining her succession was opened this morning under my authority as Commander. [His hand moves, briefly touching a rolled up scroll set on the flat surface before withdrawing as though burned.] It was her wish that I assume all authorities and responsibilities as Emperor after her passing.

[His look is pained, but does not break.]

Henceforth, I assume the role of Alderwood Emperor and thusly fulfill her wishes. The responsibilites of the Commander will continue with me until I choose a successor.

[A pause, a breath as he composes his next words.]

The Palace of Landed Sky is closed to all petitioners until further notice. Without Eshai's power protecting it, this is no longer a safe haven for those that wish to speak its name, so do not risk it.

[For he already suspects that Malicant is behind this and will not have it invited in to make a pair of he and Eshai in death.

That brings him to the end of what he needed to announce and so he only offers one flat statement in closing.]

This changes nothing of your presence or purpose, so do not come beg of return. Those magicks are beyond me and my priority is determining what fool made the decision to kill her.
