Voice;

Some time ago, I posited the idea of building a ship. While it was met with derision by some -- [You know who you are.] -- recent events have convinced me that there is no other reasonable course of action.

We are entering a time of ease now, and I feel very strongly that we must act before the next catastrophe arises. While we have the opportunity and the materials, we can construct a proper ship. This will give us the freedom to explore beyond the turtle's shell, and give us a means of escape, should it sicken again.

I believe there is enough wood from the homes destroyed when the satellite fell to salvage and build a modest ship. It will not hold all of us, but it is a fine start. With more mobility, I believe we can find the materials we need to make a proper go of it.

For those who question my qualifications, I am an Admiral of his Majesty's navy, formerly in the employ of the East India Trading Company. I have more than the proper qualifications to oversee the construction and voyages of such a vessel.

Even if we never need it as an escape vessel, if there's another food shortage, fishing will help with that. And there are methods to preserve fish.

I've been keeping track of the turtle's course as best I can. It would be more helpful if I'd started before the last landfall, but the next one, we'll know where it is relative to our current location. Or if we run into another fertile patch of ocean.

[It also relies on it being a round planet with time zones for Zel to get anything resembling longitude.]

[it's not minionhood, it's pragmatism... Zel just has to keep telling himself that]

I know someone made a post about fishing at some point. You might inquire as to their status.

[Navies and men made of rock don't always go together.]

Right. I don't remember who was asking, but they'd probably appreciate anyone who knows the ocean.
