As the collection and sharing of information seems to become an increasing problem the more newcomers are brought in and old residents are lost, I have attempted to collect what data is available on the network and record it in audio so that it can be understood by all. A link is attached to this post.

The information is sparse enough, and I'm afraid that I am not accustomed to this kind of information gathering. If there is data that I have overlooked, I would welcome it.

[Richard wears the mask of measured calm and confidence that he is accustomed to sporting for all official matters, so he does not let himself look tired, but he is. He is so very is. He has searched through as much information archived on the network as he could, and he now understands why his advisors seem kind of irritable sometimes. New appreciation for the clerical staff in his administration right here.]

The intention of this collection of data is, first, to have it given to newcomers on arrival, and second, to have a central location to which we can add new information and updated reports. The hope is to keep us all better informed and make it easier to establish what information needs to be gathered from what is already known. While we can give his file as asked for by new arrivals, any suggestions from those technically inclined on how to make the data more easy to access and update is welcomed. Commander Evandau has also expressed a willingness to give this information to new Foreigners on arrival, should the Emperor give consent. [If only to spare Evandau and Eshai getting the same questions over and over at audiences, but hey: it will solve problems of distribution if they can do that.]

I'm afraid I didn't catch your name, monsieur?

[Richard inclines his head in greeting, and the formal greeting gets an equally formal reply on reflex.] Richard of Windor, ruler of Windor Kingdom and eldest heir of the late King Ferdinand. It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr Dååhd.

[ Royalty. He can practically feel the muscles in his back stiffen up, resulting in a slight straightening of posture — which is saying a lot for a man who already walks with a straight back and head held high. Old habits die hard. He needs to remember that this isn't Stockholm and associating with royalty will not reflect on his standing here in any way. ]

The pleasure is mine, your majesty. [ A slight, uncomfortable bow. ] I will make sure to add to the information bank, when possible.

[It is impossible for Richard not to notice the change. He is more than used to it, of course; it has happened frequently over the course of his life. But this is not what he wants. With a genial smile, he says,] There is no need for that. A field surgeon will be of more help to us here than another monarch, I suspect. Please, call me 'Richard.'

As you wish... Richard. [ Another short bow at that. He doesn't ease up much — doesn't trust so easily. Maybe with time and small talk. ]

Have you been here long?

[Note to self: train self not to use full title in response to other people using full titles.]

About two months, now. [A gloved hand lifts with the corners of his mouth.] Too little time to grasp the full picture, but long enough to realize that my knowledge of our situation is much lacking.

[ He dares a smile, still reserved but certainly friendly. ] Then we are in very similar positions. You do seem to have taken better measures than I have in correcting that lack of knowledge.

[A smile is good! Richard will have to work on this—not because he is concerned with being liked, but because he regrets that he has put Dååhd ill at ease and wants to rectify his error.] Others made the need clear to me, and I couldn't break my word to them. Yet I still feel very far from my goal of understanding the situation we are in.

There is certainly a lot still kept in the dark... though hopefully your endeavour will shed some light on the situation. It's always easier when the facts are laid out in one place, rather than scattered.

At the least, we may be able to avoid searches that lead us to the same information over and over. The next step, setting aside preparation, would seem to be to decide how to actively seek new information.

That does seem to be the best course of action. Without organization such as this, it would be impossible to efficiently search in the right places. A thorough investigation relies on procedure such as this.

[ More than a field surgeon? Absolutely. ]

[Colour Richard curious. He can imagine his doctors discussing proper diagnoses, and it's almost comparable, but it just isn't quite this.] Are you familiar with this kind of investigation?

[Don't think he missed that 'former' in your CV-introduction, mister.]

Ah... in some ways, yes. I served as a quarter commissioner under the chief constable in Stockholm over the last nine months prior to my arrival in Keelial.

[While much of that refers to institutions foreign to Windor, the idea of the constable exists, and he can deduce something of what is meant from the context of the conversation.] Forgive me; it seems our countries have a few differing institutions. You investigate crime?

I did, yes. Murders mostly, although the thoroughness of my investigations were not commonplace within the institution. [ No one else really seemed to care. ]

[That's surprising. Murder is a grave crime and should have been investigated with utmost dedication. But Richard doesn't say as much, reframing his opinions on trained reflex (can't offend Eigen by calling him a dictator) to avoid criticizing the structures of a foreign country. ] The people of your city must have been all the more grateful to have one such as yourself looking after them. No doubt, we'll have much reason to appreciate your thoroughness here.

[ Oh, he would agree. It was certainly a question of social class and justice not belonging to those that landed too far down in the hierarchy. ]

Some were, I'm sure. My skills lie mostly in medicine, but I suppose the time as a commissioner will come in handy here. The people does seem to be of a more inquisitive nature.

You mean the kedan themselves?

Ah... no. I should've clarified: I meant the foreigners. Us.

Ah, true enough. Most seem ill-content to sit back and allow mysteries to stand.

Exactly. It's... refreshing, to say the least. [ A beat. ] I should let you return to your work though, I'm sure you have much to attend to.

[Richard smiles.] It was a pleasure speaking to you, Mr. Dååhd. I hope we'll have the opportunity to work together in the future.

Likewise... and I'm certain there will be plenty of opportunities. [ A slight bow and then he cuts the feed. ]
