Guys, we need a school.

And not JUST because I've been stuck in Turtle-opolis for almost six months and I'm seriously behind in my studies. [She cycles through six different half-grumpy, half teasing faces before she assumes a more serious face.] I know people have been offering to teach self defense and magic and stuff like that, but it's not -- look, it's what we need to be doing.

Educating ourselves is how we prepare for stuff like -- you know, the thing that we have to prepare for.

Obviously, I'd mostly just be a student. I think most of the people who can teach valuable skills already are, but they could afford to be more coordinated. That means we need a Headmaster. Any volunteers?

[She clears her throat and steps back from the camera, revealing half her apartment to be covered with notes about something -- presumably this project.] Oh, yeah, I have a preliminary curriculum, lemme know what you think.

Lessee, we got... Self Defense, English, Kedan Language and Culture, Computer Science, Magic, Physics and how not to introduce stupid invasive furballs into the ecosystem.

Ahem. I mean Newcomer Orientation. Obviously there's not enough of us to really do levels or whatever, but come on. Let's get on it!

I'll be happy to help coordinate defense training with anyone heading up a school. We really could use a foreigner-run school, this is a great idea.

Yes, I think a school would be a brilliant idea or if not a centralized location for one some sort of coordinated efforts that allow for offering an education.

I hadn't thought about that before, but yes, some sort of school would be a good idea. [All you teenagers need something productive to do instead of troublemaking.]

I've got no experience with schools other than the fact that I attended one, but as far as coordination goes I've been head of a city council before.

I've been trying to do this, but it's hard. People don't really like being organized. I know some people to teach training, journalism and English, and some other basic stuff.

The first step, really, is finding a building we can use.

Yeah, well they can get over it because we need to be doing this. It's not just about 'the future' in general, it's about being ready for what we already explicitly know is coming.

I think everyone could afford to learn a little more, but I think we need to put together an advanced class about cross-dimensional travel. Work that out as much as we can. Know anything about that?

Very few people here would be able to keep up with me, and I highly doubt any of them would be willing to teach in a school.

I dunno, grades are kinda useless under the circumstances.

Marking stuff up for what's good and what needs improvement, yeah, you'll probably have to do that, but there aren't gonna be any GPA's or anything. [Is that a hint of wistfulness in her voice?]

If there's no one around to do basic physics, chem, or biology, I can always chip in with some stuff.

[ He's like sixteen, but heck, he probably knows more than your average high school student in those areas. Just don't ask him to brain uberly complex math at this point. ]

We can group people into levels and split 'em up that way. Self Defense is definitely gonna be high on the priority list.

No, we gotta talk to one of the big shots about where. Unless we can people donate their apartments, but we'd need, like, a whole building's worth of suites for probably a full forty hours a week at least.
