01, time slowed (AUDIO)

[The audio clicks on. Jesse's a fast learner and prefers this method to potential misspellings.]

I've already been informed of the majority of information relevant to my situation. If anyone has anything to add and could get to speakin' up, it would be much appreciated. Else I will remain ignorant, which is not a state I fancy being in more than is necessary.

One thing these kedan did not seem to understand is that I'd also like to be finding a church to worship at on Sundays, as was tradition. Does anyone here know of any such place?

[...American. Oh well, he's asking so Jehan might as well answer]

I am afraid there is no church in the city, or at least I have not found one. The locals are not Christian and religion does not seem to be a primary concern of most of the guests.

Not to my knowledge.

Yeah, like was said - nothing's organized.

Don't think there's anybody ordained here, anyway.

This ain't purgatory, pal. I don't really know what it is, in the end, but it ain't purgatory. Too sparsely populated, if nothing else.

[Deep breath, and his words slow down to normal, again.]

I'll ask. If anybody's been through the bookstores for one already, I have some idea who that'd be.

Actually... [Bucky's voice gets... duller. Tired. With the memory of the mausoleum.] Seen enough of the mainland to be pretty sure they ain't there, either.

And that's no problem.

Name's Bucky. Bucky Barnes.

Nice to meetcha, too.

Seen some roads, not as much as many. [Beat.] Not enough back home. Mostly lived in New York, there.

Sure, yeah. Did lots of exploring around the turtle early on, and up and about during the first landfall. Curious 'bout something in particular?

When we - and by that I mean the turtle we're on - comes against land. It's a naval term.

Here? There's the city, and then mostly wilderness or ruins - including mines ruins in the mountains - all to the beaches along the shell's edge.

Yeah. Turtle. Giant one, we're all on top of it - kinda makes it interesting when he dives an' all. Also, Bucky, or Sergeant Barnes.

[Mr. Barnes sounds plain weird, nobody's ever held that sort of respect for him until he signed up and all.]

Mmm. There's four sectors. Earth, Metal, Fire, and Water. They meet in a central area, but they're pretty separate. There's markets in each section, though they specialize in different things, and banks... I guess so, though they belong to pretty much the same merchant. Never tried to have dealings with him, other than... what's been happening as matter of course.

D'you know what's your suite address? Lookin' for something in particular?

There's no churches here, I'd have felt them already.

How are there no churches? No one built any, obviously.

[ She actually understood what was being asked but responded that way purposely to see if this guy was interesting. ]

Excuse me, I'm quite "tangible".

[That's a break and Ororo's just... Look, she learned a good chunk of her English off old Westerns that fell right about then for setting, so it's weird. Very weird.]

Yeah, you're so not wrong there. The year's 2001 in my head, not like it matters in turtle hell anyways.

[A shrug on her, though it can't be seen.]

Ororo Munroe, mutant and X-Man.

[It's a pretty dry reply.]

You having any luck with that church search?

[GJ, Ororo. Assume the nineteenth century n00b knows about the X-Men? GJ. Facepalm.]

It's someone that's sick of humans being mean to each other.

[That's about as layman's as she can get it and she moves on quickly.]

What's with the change of heart?

Killing my kind'd count, in my books. Calling me a freak. [There's a shadow of old bitterness in her tone.] Those kinds of things "constitute" it.

[A beat.]

I guess if that works for you. I've never been huge on religion myself. [Aside from another version of her being worshipped as a goddess, but hey.] Around here, I'd bet you wouldn't be too judged for skipping out on the prayers.
