[ After plenty of debate, Rung has chosen to go with video for his first post. While it's entirely possible that there may be other cybertronians here, or races who are hostile to his kind, or perhaps even those who have never seen an alien before, he doesn't want his first impression on the community to be tinged by deception.

When the feed starts he smiles, stately brows rising slightly above his optics. To all appearances a humanoid robot, in shades of orange, tan, and teal, his demeanor is calm and pleasant as he addresses anyone watching. ]

Hello! It's a pleasure to meet you all. My name is Rung. I would like to be very upfront with you all: I am an alien, although I assure you I am entirely nonviolent toward all.

[ He straights up slightly, still friendly but now a touch more businesslike. ]

I realize that being taken from one's home and placed in an new, unfamiliar, environment can be quite taxing, and I hope that we can all help each other along as best we can. If you find yourself struggling, however, I would be more than happy to help you one-on-one.

I am a psychiatrist, among many other things, and I would like to offer my services to the general population. While I am trained in a non-human species, I believe I would be capable of applying my skills to all sentient races with behavior fairly analogous to my own. Considering this species gap, though, I would feel wrong requiring payment, so please consider this a free service until further notice.

[ His smile widens, bright and sincere. ]

I'm Rebecca Holiday. I'm a doctor and scientist where I'm from, so we seem to have some things in common. We seem to get all sorts of people here. What is the name of your species, if I may be so forward?

Hello, Dr. Holiday. It's a pleasure. To answer your question, I'm a cybertronian. We're a species of sentient machines--'living robots,' more or less. Am I correct in assuming you are human?

[Sentient machines. That's incredible!]

Yes, you are. There doesn't seem to be anyone here from my home, though.

I'm sorry to hear that. Have you been settling in alright?

It's nothing to be sorry about and I'm doing just fine. [He's very sweet.] What about you?

That's good to hear. I haven't been here very long, but so far everyone has been quite helpful and kind all things considered.

They have for me as well, but I've been here a week or two. It seems okay so far... I think.

There are certainly worse places to be stuck. At least we have been given accommodations and such.

Agreed. There are definitely worse places. Things here just seem a bit... too surreal and pleasant on the surface.

But, yes. I'm happy that they've given us lodging and starting budget.

The relative freedom is refreshing alright, but... Well, cities on giant turtles are a little bizarre for me, despite everything I've seen.

[ He laughs, a little sheepishly. ]

The apartment they've given me is lovely, but I can't help but wish I had my models to furnish it with.

I'm still not entirely convinced, but I would be foolish to not assume it's a possibility. I have to go to the head of the turtle sometime soon to check out the story here.

Models?

The galaxy can be a rather improbable place... But I can only imagine the reaction I'd get from my peers upon my return home with stories of this place.

Ah, yes. I build and collect model space ships. I have a rather extensive collection, and... well, I hope they're still in one piece by the time I get home. I've had several of them for a few million years.

I'd get the same treatment, don't worry.

Really? I used to put model ships together when I was young, but I haven't done anything like that in years. It's a wonderful... hobby...

It is! I find it rather soothing. It requires enough concentration to keep you engaged, but not so much that it becomes tiresome.

[ Rung smiles sheepishly. ]

My species is rather long-lived. It's very possible for us to live to be several million years old--I've been in practice for over six, for example.

That's incredible. A human's life expectancy is so-... I couldn't imagine living that long.

So long as you keep yourself occupied with useful hobbies, it can't get that boring.
