[It's about midday when Shayera turns on the comm, sitting in the comforts of her suite in the Earth Sector. Her expression is her default serious, and her overall demeanor shows she means business, despite feeling a tad unusual about making a public appearance that's not in person. But that aside, she knows that she has something that needs to be said, and a little awkwardness isn't going to stop her.] My name is Shayera Hol. Most of you probably don't know me, but that's not the point here. I'm here to talk about training for self-defense in battle.

[She leans back in her chair to get comfortable, arms crossed as she speaks.] I know there's been a few other posts about this, but having more offers doesn't hurt things. A-- [There's a brief hesitation as she decides which word best describes Kyle. He said family, but... she never agreed to that.] friend of mine brought it to my attention that there are people here who need to know how to fight. There's things here that can kill, and people should be prepared to defend themselves against them should the need arise. I'm a pretty competent fighter, so don't worry about me knowing what I'm doing.

[Then there's the fact that there's teenagers here, and they're really going to need help unless they have some form of fighting on their own.] Even if you have your own powers or whatnot, knowing how to fight is still crucial. I'd be willing to help anybody out, so just give me a call, or come to my apartment, EA-2C. I'll be starting the lessons in a couple of weeks, if nothing unexpected pops up.

[filtered message to Captain James Kirk and Clara Oswald]

[Once that's been taken care of, she fixes up a filter to the two Kyle told her about.] The little ball of sunshine told me about you two in particular needing training, so don't expect to get out of it. If you've got any questions, feel free to drop by.

[And he's gonna show up, just to troll her. He's dressed simply, dark coloured pants and t-shirt, with his tank top underneath it so he can dress comfortably for whatever she has planned. And he's not wearing his ring.]

[Chirps:] Reporting for duty, ma'am!

[... WOW HE WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO BELIEVE HER oh well, now she gets to boss him around woo. She has a few mats laid out on the floor of her suite (with the booze safely tucked away and out of sight and mind), and abruptly points to said mats.] You've got five minutes to stretch, then I want you to start out with two sets of fifty one-handed push ups, five sets of twenty crunches, and two sets of twenty chin ups. [She has a bar all set up for you, too.] No time limit. After that, we'll work from there.

[He doesn't even bat an eyelid. She did say her standards would be Thanagarian, and he was just gonna have to roll with it. Besides, he liked how well he slept when he was physically worn out.]

[He takes off his shirt, shoes, and socks, placing them next to the bag. His tank top is grey, and only exposes the shoulders, and partially, the remains of the injuries left on them. He's usually more conscious of this but Shayera's family. He's not worried it'll change her opinion of him negatively.]

[He does impress her with how willing he is for this, but that is cut short once those scars come into view. Part of her knows she shouldn't ask, but those are fresh cut marks that have recently started healing. And after learning about various weapons and what the cuts look like, it doesn't take her long to piece it together.] Stop.

[It isn't her place to do any of this, especially since he didn't care about her past. But he knows, and if they're going to make this family thing work, he needs to do the same.] What happened?

[He looks at her quizzically. That wasn't terribly specific.]

What happened when?

Your shoulders. [Of course she can tell they spread to his back, but that's where her focus is right now. What aren't you telling me?]

[imaginate]

[He looks at his hands, focusing past them to the ground. She's from one of their multiverses. She'd recognise the names, and more than that, she might go after them. From what he knows... this Corps is still standing. Their Kyle isn't... damaged, like he is, and it's likely the same things wouldn't happen to him at all.]

[But it's extremely unfair to keep this from her. He thinks of windows, and blizzards, and his lips purse.]

What will you do, if I told you?

Depends on what you tell me. [Cryptic response to a cryptic question. And it's the truth. If someone who was present on the turtle did this to him, she'd go after them like there was no tomorrow. If they weren't, she'd hit a few things and be done with it, though the names would stick to her mind as though she tattooed them on her brain.]

[imaginate]

[He'd be a fool not to sense the anger radiating off her. He sighs.]

Sinestro. [a beat, and then he adds:] Imprisoned me.

[He doesn't meet her eyes, not wanting her to see that his expression is a mask of pure hatred that matches the ice in his tone.]

[wingedwarrior]

[Sinestro. That name was familiar. Hell, she remembered fighting the asshole. And she wanted to mace him before learning about this.] Next time I see him, he's dead.

[On the final word, she throws her mace to the wall, knuckles ghostly white from gripping it so tightly. There's now a dent where it hit, but she'll patch that up later. Now? She's furious.]

[imaginate]

[He wonders if he should temper it, with he's not the same one, and it might not happen in your world, but instead, he wryly remarks:] But you barely know me.

[A shrug. He can roll with it.]

Push-ups first, was it?

I-- [That... renders her speechless. She finally raises her head to look at him, disbelief in her eyes once again because of him. What is it with this kid? This is different, she thinks to herself. And then she realizes.

It isn't.] ... deserved that.

[She sighs deeply, pushing her hair back with one hand. She nods once curtly, before waving her figure for him to come closer to her.]

[imaginate]

[He looks surprised for an instant, then grateful, and then his grin turns cheeky, boyish and he comes over.]

[Well, for that grin, he gets a quick, but hard slap across the head. For basically everything that's happened since she got here because it's totally his fault and she just needed to hit him.

Then she grabs his head, pulling it to her shoulder for a small hug. Maybe he didn't need it. But he deserved it.] You're a lot stronger than I gave you credit for. I admire and respect you for that. [A beat.] Little brother.

[imaginate]

Ow!

[He makes SUCH A FACE when she hits him but he returns the hug.]

And as your little brother - just. [be careful. He swallows that.] Good hunting.

[wingedwarrior]

[You've got family again Shayera. Don't you dare mess it up. She can tell what he wanted to say, many others have hushed the same words countless time before. The hug lasts a brief moment longer before she pulls away with a smile.] Thanks. And don't worry. I'll be careful.

[Just to reassure him.]

Be careful? Are you kidding? Beat the crap out of him.

[Because Feelings, okay. He stretches his arms, and grins at her.]

Oh, I'm going farther than that. [She won't even try to lie and cover it with a simple "he'll get the beating of his life" or anything. She wants him dead, screw morals.]

[His smile fades, and he looks at her consideringly, pensively.]

In my world... he gets the death sentence. For what he did. [To the Corps. To me.]

He deserves it.

[wingedwarrior]

Good. [She respects Batman and Superman's morals, she truly does. But there are some psychotics out there who need to be put down for good.] I'll do the honors myself in my world.

[But seeing him like this, completely different from his usual chipper self. It makes her give him a few thoughtful glances.]
