[Someone’s looking cheery (it’s Catty). She’s sitting in front of the screen next to a less-cheery Vanessa, absently doodling on a piece of paper] Okay, so one of the things that we found out during the whole ‘oh no the turtle is dying and turning helpless teenaged girls into shadow monsters’ thing is that, the general mood of the people on the turtle affects Asti, and vice versa.
This is important, obviously, because no one likes a sad turtle. Especially when we’re living on the back of it. And you know who some of the saddest people in the world are? Drug addicts.
[Catty, you were literally the only teenage girl stuck as a shadow. Vanessa makes a face, although it’s not really certain which part of Catty’s spiel is getting the face made at.] What Catty means is that, during our investigation, we learned about this drug called Dust. It’s getting kind of big. We also learned that it’s possible that the things we do here can affect Asti. So it stands to reason that people who are using drugs could make him sick again. [She flashes a small smile.]
We were kind of thinking of maybe starting an outreach program? To help with both teenagers and adults addicted to Dust. Or addicted to anything! [Stop putting poisons in your body, yo.]
Right, exactly. And there are only so many people we can do the goddess of hope thing at, you know? We can’t be everywhere. Plus, it turns out that not everyone is willing to listen to a pair of seventeen year old girls, so having some help would be great.
[Omg, no she didn’t. Did she really? Vanessa goes a little pale but tries to ignore the fact that Catty has totally just spilled the beans on that secret. Maybe nobody will notice. Yeah. No noticing.] You mean, not everyone is willing to listen to you. [Her lips purse.] So yeah. If you’d like to help us help not just the kedan but Foreigners too - because we need to look out for each other - let us know. [A beat.] If you don’t know who we are, I’m Vanessa and this is Catty. [Jerking her thumb at the brunette now.]
[The brunette gives a small wave and a thumbs up, and then switches off the feed]
[ooc; Catty is black and Vanessa is blue!]

That's super helpful, you must be a real winner.
no subject
I wouldn't be any help.

What's your name?
no subject
Billy Costigan. And you're.. Vanessa?
no subject
[She shakes her head, bumping her shoulder into the girl next to her] This is Vanessa. I'm Catty. You know, like-- [She holds one hand up like she's pretending it's a paw. Like a cat, man]
no subject
...Like a cat? I wouldn't advertise that if I were you. There are a lot of wrong ways that can be taken.
no subject
That gets an easy shrug] People can take it however they like, it doesn't mean they're right. That's how I got my name, what's the point in pretending otherwise?
no subject
Hopefully you'll figure that out when you're older.

I think you're a little young to go looking for trouble is all. I don't want to see anything happen to you, alright?
no subject
Also that's sweet, but you don't need to worry about me, or condescend to me. I'm already dead, I can handle a few a addicts. What would be really nice is if some jerky old guy stopped judging from the sidelines and decided to get his hands dirty helping out.
no subject
[Then he sighs.] I wasn't kidding when I said you don't want me helping out.
no subject
Honestly, the way you sound right now, you don't want anyone helping out. If everyone waited until they turned twenty five to do something important or meaningful, nothing would ever get done. Where we're from, seventeen is retirement age.

[To the later, he holds up a hand in mild resignation and sighs. Costigan doesn't mean to come across as such a jerk, but it just seems childish and he has a hard time sugar coating that.] You need people who know what they're doing to give people with a problem a reason to seek help. Wanting something isn't enough, Catty. You should have learned that by now.
no subject
Wanting something's never enough, but it's always a start. And, uh, at what point did either one of us say that we don't have experience at this? We'll help who we can. We'll ask other people to help who we can't. Maybe we won't help everyone, but we'll help more people than if we just sat around going 'wow, sure sucks about those drug addicts, huh?'
no subject
I'm sure that kind of attitude is a great place to start.
