[Charles looked probably particularly short when in comparison with the egg he sat beside. The egg itself had a soft luminous glow about it that was reflected in the telepath’s expression. He had one hand resting delicately on the shell and every so often would give a soft chuckle as if he were being tickled.]
How absolutely extraordinary.
[He said softly, before giving a blink and focusing back on his device. Someone had gotten distracted by tiny turtle emotions.]
I was curious about the draw I’d felt to come down this way and to this, [he looks up along the shell and well, even if it towered over him it was still an,] egg. I do not normally suffer from such compulsions.
[His control on his own mind was too strong (as a rule) and at first he’d been quite bemused at the strength of the compulsion, edging towards concerned. However, once he’d drawn closer and the egg had begun to resonate, everything had seemed to settle around him and he couldn’t imagine why he’d been concerned.
Which, of course, was concerning and had led to Charles investigating the egg with telepathic tendrils and oh what a fascinating response he’d gotten in return. In fact, it had him chuckling again as he brushed his hand lightly over the shell, almost like one would rub a baby’s back to sooth.]
I would not call it a conversation, per say but whoever is inside certainly seems to have a sweet and positive outlook on life at the moment. At least this one does.
I apologize if this has already been covered elsewhere but has anyone else come across an egg like this one?

Oh now see, that looks brilliant. Just brilliant. No thoughts, just happy feelings? I could definitely use a look at that. Or a listen to that.
[A boost of happiness among his rather awkwardly emotional social life was just what he needed. He could use a break, some time with a potential friend and a lovely happy egg. Fantastic time.]
Whereabouts are you?
video;
[Charles said cheerfully, most definitely affected by the wee consciousness trying its best to communicate with him.]
No, I do not believe it is capable of such a coherent, formed thought process right now, it feels very, very young. Please, if you'd like to come and have a look, you are more than welcome.
[He may get twitchy if you start getting overly touchy though Doctor. No breaking the egg. Charles shares a fairly generic set of landmarks for the Time Lord to follow.]

Pausing just across from Charles and the egg, he can hardly hide his smile. This was going to be a fun use of an afternoon.]
Ah, there you are! Hello again Charles. Hope I didn't keep you too long.

What is it?
[video]
[A large egg but still an egg.]
[video]
I know it's an egg.
What kind of egg? I've never seen one like that before.

I don't get it. Could you always read the minds of babies?

[Haven't had the heart to leave her own is more like it.]
You can... understand it? How?
[Considering the strange phenomena so far, Holiday's wondering if she could do that, too.]
video;
[He sounds excited about this, even though his attention is obviously split between their conversation and the egg at his side.]
It's not very difficult to understand right now, it's mostly just responding with emotional impressions.

[Charles said with a soft chuckle.]
I was exploring a few blocks over and for some reason found myself turning down a side street. Quite honestly I had not intended to go so far afield, at least not on this first exploration but I just could not seem to help myself.
Then I found this, [he motioned to the egg] and coming down this way made perfect sense.

[It may be rude to answer a question with a question but manners took a back seat to the excitement that came from finding this egg.]
I have not been able to determine that it is lacking anything. From the emotions I am able to detect, the occupant appears to feel quite warm, safe and happy.

[There were probably tests, were a sample of the fluid from within the egg extracted but the very thought of taking such a risk filled Charles with a strong protective sense of no.]
However, I feel somewhat secure in my assumption that what rests inside may be an infant turtle.
[It was pure assumption, speculation at best but sometimes hoofbeats mean horses.]

It is one of the abilities of my mutation, being able to read minds. In this case, the infant mind is too young for anything except base instincts but it is still quite remarkable.

[ACTION]
But whatever this is, he didn't ask for it, he didn't cultivate it and he sure as heck has no idea where it's going to lead him. Between recent events, the diverse range of foreigner powers, some vicious native entities and Keeliai's history of getting attacked by a wide variety of foes including specters, the young turtle is intensely suspicious and slightly unnerved. The further they travel and the closer they get to their destination however, the less his feelings about the compulsion matter.
When he finally gets a clear view of the egg from atop the skeletal remnants of an aqueduct he had been following, Leo knows at once that this thing is important, it is special, it must be protected… Aaand just his luck, it's been found by a human. Leo narrows his eyes, a jealous and powerful urge to Protect nearly overwhelming his natural caution; if that guy poses the slightest threat to the egg…
But he needs to evaluate the situation before jumping in with blades akimbo. The ninja remains hidden, listening intently to see if he can pick up any information, or figure out why the human is here as well, before deciding to take any further step. Leo knows his cousins are moving into the best support positions provided by the terrain, unseen and silent.

dangeroussignificantly unaware of his surroundings, his mind and focus was on the infant occupant of the egg. He had a hand resting lightly on the shell, the egg itself glowing softly as it radiated it's contentment.It was actually the burst of love and happiness that shocked Charles out of his distraction. There was a definite spike in the push of those emotions from the occupant of the egg and they appeared to be radiated towards something beyond Charles' connection.
There was a brief twinge of jealous feelings that rose and just as quickly fell beneath the joyhappinessdarkwarmlove from the egg. Blinking owlishly, he began to glance around, mind casting outwards touching upon the watchful attention up on the aqueduct.
"Hello?" He called out. Charles couldn't see anything, his eyes weren't that good but he was fairly confident in the accuracy of his telepathy. "Can I help you?"

video;
It better not hatch and try to eat them all, because she swears that's usually where it leads to. On the plus side, Leroy doesn't seem to have any issues with it. In fact, prior to this message, she was having an intense debate with the iguana before she settled on a 'Fine, okay, we'll check it out. I'm telling you, if it eats him-- no, you did not tell me so.']
Did Asti lay them? I was under the impression that our host was a guy.
video;
[Sorry, the question surprised him and Charles blinked before his eyebrow arched and a bemused look touched his face.]
Setting aside the fact that I'm not entirely certain these are turtle eggs, though that appears to be the most solid theory, I am fairly certain that a male turtle, even one as special as Asti, cannot lay eggs.
[Though you know ... that was a fairly narrow minded assumption?]
Mostly certain anyway.
