Video; 001

[The last thing he remembered was Mako yelling something in his direction, the kaiju raising a claw for his head. Then he was on the floor, wet and cold and told point blank something about a turtle (BS.) something about the land between the living and the dead (more BS) and told point blank to fend for himself.

In essence. That's what he heard. It's not entirely clear. His brain is a mix of Yancy and Mako twisting into one face that's beyond his saving.

He needs 24 hours. Something to eat. Some place to sleep. The place could easily pass for Hong Kong's boneslum. That's sort of familiar but there's no wall, there's no air of decay..]

Are those guys always that friendly? [He snorts] Sorry I was so rude guys. I was in the middle of a fight for my life and the lives of my friends and planet. Not too thrilled about getting grabbed.

[He doesn't look good either. I mean judging from a baseline human standard of you shouldn't be pale and wearing armor like that. He is in essence wearing armor.]

Can anybody tell me where the fire district is? And after that where I can get something to eat and something - [beat] something else to wear.

I've got [He reaches into a plain black bag hoping for money and coming up with this. It falls against the console and makes a loud squeak.]

...What's really going on here? I mean really.

Metal, unless I miss my guess. I quickly learned that the fire district is the place to find a blacksmith, or the closest approximation to it, but the request cost me a pretty penny indeed. I presume it would be a far better deal if you had materials to contribute. If nothing else, it'll be worth something in trade.

And, at the risk of ruining your welcome, I've found it's good advice to be armed. The shockingly civilized welcome aside, not everything here is so tidy.

What, indeed? [A sigh] I can oftentimes hardly believe such things myself.

The long and short of it is that things here aren't the same as you're used to, I'm guessing. But in my experience you'll know quickly enough if it's hostile.

Not that I'm aware of. [A touch dryly, since they have had much larger troubles than a talking reptile.]

That other matter, however... I can't claim to be fully knowledgeable, I'm afraid, but all I've heard seems to indicate that the person, or being, that's been recently brought here is a bad sign indeed.

[The slightest of pauses. Westley's not terribly used to this "working together" thing, particularly with strangers. Then again, they are all rather in the same boat. Proverbially.]

Not a great deal of specifics, unfortunately. It seems as though each of us foreigners have been brought here in order to fight a great evil that threatens the survival of our fair turtle and all inhabitants upon it, and this Malicant fits the bill neatly.

Though as far as what, exactly, we're to do about it, I'm at a loss. Not a state I enjoy, particularly.

I hadn't asked it. But given the choice of miserable decay and inevitable death, which I can only assume is the alternative, I'd suppose it's well enough in favor.

You do raise a good point, however. Disturbing as it is to think of the earth beneath our feet as sentient.

Perhaps not, but I have seen more than one unexpected thing in my time. And I've found that worrying over things one can't control isn't worth the trouble unless it becomes unavoidable.

Not to say I'm entirely confident in my own sanity, mind. I did die moments before arriving here, which is enough to make one question almost anything.
