Video; 001
[The last thing he remembered was Mako yelling something in his direction, the kaiju raising a claw for his head. Then he was on the floor, wet and cold and told point blank something about a turtle (BS.) something about the land between the living and the dead (more BS) and told point blank to fend for himself.
In essence. That's what he heard. It's not entirely clear. His brain is a mix of Yancy and Mako twisting into one face that's beyond his saving.
He needs 24 hours. Something to eat. Some place to sleep. The place could easily pass for Hong Kong's boneslum. That's sort of familiar but there's no wall, there's no air of decay..]
Are those guys always that friendly? [He snorts] Sorry I was so rude guys. I was in the middle of a fight for my life and the lives of my friends and planet. Not too thrilled about getting grabbed.
[He doesn't look good either. I mean judging from a baseline human standard of you shouldn't be pale and wearing armor like that. He is in essence wearing armor.]
Can anybody tell me where the fire district is? And after that where I can get something to eat and something - [beat] something else to wear.
I've got [He reaches into a plain black bag hoping for money and coming up with this. It falls against the console and makes a loud squeak.]
...What's really going on here? I mean really.

[He's just going to drop that word. see if Tony knows what it means. The moment he does however - "Yep. surprising. Kaiju are full of surprises," Raleigh said. "Now how are we going to kill it? Both plasma cannons are shot. We've got no--"
"There's still something left," Mako said, "One of my upgrades."
To an outsider it would look like Raleigh had just seen a ghost.]
I'll take all the help that I can get finding my way around.
[The guy named Mako bought him lunch, he could stand more tourguides. Make more friends.]
no subject
So you hunt strange creatures. That's your day job? Mine's fighting aliens. Takes all kinds, huh?
[ His lips twitch in a wry smile. ]
All right. Look, go outside. Be conspicuous. Preferably not around something metal. I'm going to get a lock on your armor - that is metal, right? - and I'll be there in... Let's make it five minutes. Deal?
no subject
Listen are you with the PPDC?
[He talks as he walks outside.]
no subject
[ That's that bit about consulting with SHIELD, but he doesn't like them. He doesn't want to be associated with them if he can help it. ]
ETA in four. Hang tight. We got you.
[ He switches off the feed, suits up, and flies over. JARVIS has the path already mapped out and he's on his fourth minute when he finds his target. Cutting power, he lands beside him and flips the faceplate up on his helmet. ]
Didn't keep you, did I?
no subject
Not in the slightest sir. [Why can't Gipsy fly? why did they abandon the program before they had flying robots?] Can I say that was one of the most impressive things I've seen in a long time?
no subject
[ He grins, obviously pleased by the comment. Then he nods at the suit Raleigh's wearing. ]
Can yours fly? And please, call me Tony. I'm not that old to be a sir. I hope.
no subject
No. I wish it could. It's for jaeger piloting. I thought you might be familiar with it since you knew about Kaiju. Or at least...the earliest definitions of Kaiju.
[when it hits him he really is by himself he sighs.] ...If you'd know the PPDC though...
Sorry. [He rubs his head] They abandoned any flying plans for the machines I work with.
You...a soldier?
no subject
[ It's a little distracted, the way he says it, the majority of his attention taken up by examining the helmet and the suit. He can tell that it isn't like his. It would need some major adjustments. But all it would take would be a little time, some ingenuity, and maybe...
He gestures to the suit, dragging his eyes back up to Raleigh's. ]
You want it to fly? I could make it happen.
no subject
Yeah. I mean that'd be amazing if you did. It's got some neural drift capabilities but if they could fly we could evac a lot easier.
...Fight easier. Evade easier, especially with Kaiju because...
[Wow. Right in his head is Yancy. And Mako. He presses his lips together. He hesitates before studying him.]
...Do you want to get a cup of coffee?
no subject
[ He raps a gauntleted fist against the chestplate of his armor. ]
I built. Every piece. So yeah. Tell me what you need and I'll set you up. And tell me about these creatures too.
no subject
He's thinking about being able to help Mako. This is a good thing.
He nods.] Just something able to get us out. Kaiju...
[He picks up the thing he threw earlier and hands it to Tony.] That's a Kaiju.
[It squeaks and looks like a large bat.] ..A kid's toy version of it. Big. Ugly. Their blood's poisonous. They're about...well Trespasser ate the Golden Gate bridge until we took him out with three nukes.
no subject
Three nukes? That's impressive. Only took me one to take out ET's mothership.
[ Then he has to ask, because it's just too bizarre not to, as he hands the toy back. ]
Why did it eat the bridge?
no subject
[He grimaces] It was hungry?
no subject
Where are they coming from? Radiation? Evil genius trying to build a better Godzilla?
no subject
We put aside all of it. Race. Creed. nationality. Just to try and fight them. I was fifteen when all of this started.
[He kicks at a rock, boot moving with difficulty] My brother and I.
no subject
So it was a portal. Some kind of interdimensional hole. Same thing happened to the place I'm from.
[ Unless he's talking that whole Hollow Earth thing, and Tony puts absolutely no credibility in that nonsense. ]
Sounds like your world had a better way of handling it than mine. I can't really imagine people coming together over anything. Come on. [ He waves a hand, gesturing him to follow. ] I know a place with coffee not far from here. We'll get you a sandwich, too. You look like you could use one.
no subject
[His face contorts. Sandwich] that'd be great. I just need...food and sleep. And I'll...
I won't be okay. But it'll be close.
[He has to admit that to himself.] I left somebody behind fighting one of those things.
no subject
[ Tony can't honestly remember when he last had something to eat, and now that the topic's come up, he realizes that he is hungry. So he starts walking, talking as he goes. ]
I don't think you have to worry about it. Back home, I mean. This isn't—This place doesn't operate the way the world you know does. They're fine. Just focus on you. Getting food. Sleeping. It's easier to think afterward.
no subject
[Raleigh nods.] So you said you're familiar with aliens?
no subject
[ Not that he necessarily wants to talk about his own experiences. Still, he thinks that maybe he can skirt around the edges of what happened without saying enough to make himself uncomfortable. ]
A couple of them came to Earth. Had a big fight. The loser opened a portal and brought in an army of other ones. Big ugly things, like giant flying space whales, and bug-looking robot things. It was a big mess.
no subject
no subject
[ He rolls his eyes as he says it. Because that's totally not normal. ]
