[ Jack has gone back and forth between Keeliai and Tu Vishan several times, each more insistent than before, before returning to his suite to relay this message. He sticks to video because he's a little weary (mentally more than physically) and most of the people he knew needed to hear this news, he knew could see and hear him or the petite, jewel-toned faerie securely perched on his shoulder in the soft folds of his sweater's hood. The feed begins as he's still talking to her and it catches the last of his words and her soft chirping. ]

[ Then he addresses the screen properly, keeping his voice level and steady. ]

I know everything's been a little crazy lately with... you know, that message--

--but I wanted to let people know, Finnick Odair has gone home. I've looked all over and neither I nor the Wind can't find him anywhere on Tu Vishan or in Sinbrilee. I'm sure he... would have said goodbye, if he'd been able. But I didn't want people to just be looking for him and not realize.

[ a beat and then, unable to think of anything more appropriate to add: ]

I'd like to keep the fishing business open, even if it'll have to move to a building not attached to his suite but... I think he'd have liked that, and I don't want you two to be out of jobs. I'll understand if you'd prefer not to, though. I know I've... never really been around it much for supposedly being half the ownership.

Tooth fairy? I believe in a lot of things, but England's never even tried to claim the Tooth Fairy was real. [He is sure now that every world but his own is full of weird shit.] Where's her little wand?

[You know what the smart thing to do would be? To just pretend it had never happened and hope that he does the same and then things can keep on going like they were.]

[Distantly, as if the fishing business is the farthest thing from her mind, Korra answered:]

[She was looking down and frown that was pushing the edges of her lips downward had become a feeling she started to hate.]

He lied to me Jack. [She said abruptly, trying to sound angry instead of hurt.]

Finnick lied. He promised me he wasn’t going to leave after Katniss.

[She was expecting him to feel a little down. Not that down. Finnick disappearing must've hit him harder than she first realized from the initial message.]

You okay? [A pause.] No, wait, don't answer that. Stupid question.

...you dealing?

Korra...

It's, I'm sure he... did mean to. You know people can't... control when they leave. Any more than they can when they arrive.

It's fine. Hey, you should come and meet Baby Tooth, you'll like her.

[You're lying again, Jack]

I take it you two are right next door?

[She switched off the console, taking her sweet time before hauling herself out of the chair and towards her window. Taking the long way would've been too much effort, so she opted for their usual method. The one they used to use, before the whole business with the satellite. Fortunately, all the necessary branches were still intact, so it wasn't long before she was sitting on the one just outside his window.]

[*knock, knock*]

But he was so sure of it when he told me. He was helping me. I don't want the people I care about to just leave me.

[That wasn't something she wanted to bring up, not right now. Clearing her throat, she finally looked up.]

What do you want me to do? You're the boss now.

[ He'd forgotten how much he relied on the familiarity of her visiting like that and so it was with a smile that was genuine that he opened the window. His suite was quite chilly, the cooling unit that Bruce Banner had installed working excellently. He'd raised the temperature a little since Baby Tooth's arrival but it was still around 40 or 50 degrees. ]

Come in.

[She'd forgotten her jacket in her room. But temperatures in the forties were so bad, with the summer sun at her back. Pulling herself inside, she lingered at the windowsill for a moment. Something must have happened to him in the brief time it took her to get over her, because he was smiling again. A real smile.]

You look suddenly cheerful.
