Presently, I am attempting to make gunpowder. [Because guess who found his musket. :D]

What brings this about then?

I found one of my muskets in Sinbrilee. I thought it might be best to lay in supplies. [Or else he's been a bit paranoid since the events with Malicant, there's that, too.]

THAT is wonderful news. Especially considering...

Well, things. I found some coin. After I paid a debt I have quite a bit left to help in terms of the supplies. There was also...

[And Enjolras is switching the video on to show Combeferre the xylophone waistcoat. Just the waistcoat since there are circles under his eyes after all of this, and he doesn't want him seeing THAT. And then the video's going away again.]

I do rather wish I'd found something more useful to your goal.

I do not know what we will need the supplies for, but it would be safest to have them in any case.

[And he blinks a bit at the waistcoat, but that's ...certainly something.]

Only what you know and are willing to teach me though, of course. [And is that a bit of amusement there? Perhaps, and something of nostalgia tossed in there as well. That he can shoot at ALL, he owes to Combeferre, so it's only natural to ask him for help.]

Oh, perhaps. Iskierka seems fond enough of it of all people.

[A chuckle.] Of course. It would be my honor, my dear.

Well, then: I do think Temeraire will certainly like it.

Well, we are settled then. Some sort of weapon for me and you to teach me. It seems reasonable enough.

And likely the earring too. [Which Enjolras is sot of fond of, but acknowledges was kind of an idiotic spur of the moment thing he's just decided to own for now.] I do not believe I've seen him in person in...quite some time.

We shall have to look, in Sinbrilee, and see if we might find one for you as well.

[There's a bit of a lipquirk.] The earring has ....grown on me, I must admit.

That would be good, yes. I could stand to explore a little more.

[And he's shrugging a little, tugging at his earlobe.] If nothing else, it serves as a reminder, I suppose.

[A quiet laugh.] So if you are Saint-Just, who does that make me?

[He can't say that he honestly thinks he will be amazing company for this sort of thing, but still. ~~romantic ghost lit evenings~~. They always claim a change of scenery is good and I will like it well enough if you are there.

Someone he ought have listened to a bit more, I should think.

So it will. [There's a beat.] I am not much given to such flights of fancy, but -- it might be almost like we are in Ancient Greece.

[He has never minded when Enjolras isn't amazing company, and that will not change here.]

And so it might. [Enjolras is tilting his head a little, at that suggestion. He is not saying what he thinks but, well, if his grin is a little playful here, for half a second, you only have yourself to blame, Combeferre. You and your ancient Greece.] And what might we do WERE we there?

More than perhaps. A Desmoulins I think. There ARE reasons I named the tribble as I did.

[The grin he gives back is just as playful, though it is brief.] Why, if it were truly Greece, I should think I would wish to hunt down any and all philosophers we might find. [And take copious notes. Because he's a NERD.]

It is not, though, so I think we shall have to consider something else.

Ah! [He chuckles a bit, slightly embarrassed.] I am flattered.

And then, none of us would ever see you again. We need only look for the pile of scrolls to FIND you, I suppose, but after that... Well it would take the force of everyone to get YOU out of Greece.

So we shall. Well, we are ever resourceful, aren't we? I'm certain there is SOMETHING we can find.

This is slightly stupid but...when I could not speak to any of you... Well, it was like a very poor substitute to talk to something the color of your hair?

Oh, yes, though I suppose I might be tempted away, if given proper...incentive.

...That is rather more endearing than stupid, I should think.

I strongly suspect I may arrange...something for that.

It is overly sentimental and was idiotic of me to think that I could not come to talk to you. That is the stupidity in the whole thing. Talking to myself and pretending I was talking to the tribble, well. Enough people do that sort of thing I am told here that it is not quite frightening at least.

Frightening would be if I told you he has suggestions for our work here and wished to come to meetings. [There's a bit of a laugh in his voice there.]

Oh, indeed?

No, I am rather used to that sort of thing coming from you. [He's grinning.] Well, if a dragon may talk, a -- tribble might, I suppose.

Indeed, if you would try me on that count.

[And that's a definite snort on the first part of what he says at least.] If they could speak, perhaps the chaos when they came here might have been avoided. Doubtlessly there is SOME world where such is true, though.

I would imagine there must be, but I have no idea where that place might be.

Ah good. I HAD hoped not.

Nor do I know if I would entirely wish to imagine it myself. Our lives here defy so much logic already.

Quite likely. There is enough to come across now, I would imagine. I suppose that if it happens I would not be surprised but until it does, I think we are safer as we are.

[Silence. Then, quietly and firmly:]

I will not let him take the eggs.

[Enjolras nods, even though that cannot be seen, and he seems relieved as he responds to that.]

Good. On both of those counts, good. I am certain you will protect them.

[Silence a moment longer.]

I cannot think we were the ones which brought him here, when it has been several weeks already: do you think it was true, after all, that calling him by name summoned him?

I would think that if it had been us, it would have been some time ago, yes. Perhaps the realms of death and dreaming we've been able to reach here might have something to do with it as well.

This summoning business...well, it seems to be quite POSSIBLE in light of everything else. Odd but possible.
